  • Pau Casals, Mischa Maisky and Anner Bylsma have in common? The magnificent Gofriller cellos. Casals tried a Strad, made an offer for it which was not accepted and he continued playing without regret, the Gofriller that was his concert instrument for over 60 years. I can hear strong tonal similarities between these current superb recordings by Maisky and the much older recordings of Casals.

  • That awesome moment when you learn your favorite cellist speaks English.

  • i wonder if the string has ever pulled his hair while playing?

  • @akboredum123 Im sure

  • Perfect.

  • Why is this vdeo getting so little views compared to the No.1 one? That's just tragic.

  • @Surtak The videos quality is not measured in views, but in the viewer base.. e.g. a very popular video will have a good amount of shallow viewers who listen to it because it is popular, where here you will find people who actually appreciates the music.

  • I Love it !!

  • Guitarlegend0123: He is wearing, from what it looks like, Issey Miyake - les plissés d'Issey: a very luxurious silk fabric that has elegant tiny folds.

His interpretations are intense, passionate yet so beautifully soft like velvet!

  • Stupendo violoncello!!

  • He looks like Sylvester Stallone, but in an older more wrinkled form

  • take that justin bieber!

  • @danepstein138 what does this have to do with justin beiber XD

  • I can't imagine another cellist on earth or elsewhere can perform this prelude with such intensity and yet so lyrical and emotional elaboration, even Bach himself could never predict or even dream that this piece wil ever reach this possibility.

  • @hshshs2007 ....even Bach... what ????? i think you are kidding :)) this is a very simple thing to do for Bach, at least for a brain who composed St mathaus passion or other great compostions....i think Bach just reflected the whistle of the God, and thats all...

  • Oh he's Danish then

  • @meowthecow1995

Apparently, I arrived at the same conclusion :)

  • wait a minute.. this was in Copenhagen.. damnit How Could I miss this ..

  • oh\

    oh

  • oh

  • not have brasilian with come the feet this

  • The fuck is he wearing? xD

  • @Guitarledgend0123 He actually told someone in an interview (I believe you can find it somewhere on YouTube) that hates quote, "Dressing like a penguin". He prefers to dress however he likes, and often gets a lot of comments about it. In conclusion, he just hates the fact that everyone expects you to wear a suit and a tie if you're a solo cellist.

  • God bless you....

  • baba adam akıyor ya

  • what does the symbol on his necklace mean?

  • more expressive and passionate than his younger time!

  • my favorite cellist! his playing is so 3 dimensional! phrases just jump off the page and into listener's ears!

  • the no.2 is the one that was made in heaven among the whole 6 of them.and Maisky is the write tool for bringing it out .he captures all the drama and tragic ending for the prelude.incomparable to any living or dead cellist.
