why do you have two stacks on the front and im asking this because the one had a lot more exhaust coming out of it than the other so whats the reason for that?
@zman4ish The smaller one would have been the wastegate that is used to control boost. It bleeds off excess exhaust pressure that isn't needed to spin the turbo. Usually it's plumbed into the exhaust after the turbo, but in this application, it's better to have its own exhaust.
OK guys, here's the deal..Any engine will put out a LOT of power if you throw enough money at it. I personally own a 2001 7.3 and love it. I looked at all of them before buying. The Cummins is a great engine, but in my opinion, way too noisy and too expensive to repair if the need crops up. The Duramax is good, but I don't want a Japanese engine. (Isuzu). The T444E IH is a great engine, parts are plentiful and affordable if you need them. It gets good mileage and is tough as nails.
LordHumungusFL... Cummins guys aint the only ones that talk shit buddy, and most of the dudes that do run their mouth about a truck are between the ages of 13 and 19... What does thar tell you. Btw, the name is not CumminGs. Now, while it is true that a mechanically injected Powerstroke is one bad MFer, the conversion is extremely expensive, to modify a Cummins is easier,,cheaper and more reliable
Most of the Cummings guys talk shit because they are scared that there little inline 6 cylinder Honda engines are getting smoked now by the big V8's...ditch the HEUI system on a 7.3 or 6.0 PSD and you have a bad truck ! This 7.3 is spinning 7,000 RPM and has a stock crank and a stock block !
@LordHumungusFL.... your a retard if you knew half of what you were talking about then maybe you would sound like you had half a brain. Put an egual amount of money in a cummins and stroke and i bet you the cummins will put out more power in the long run. take a page from DrMcelroy
@Cummingetit03 Your Cummings is still a gay Honda sport tuner engine lol.....oh and they really do sound like a Jeep that has had its exhaust cut off.
are you all stupid? obviously this truck has no where close to 600 horsepower, obviously its the girl who posted this video who has the pstroke with 600 hp, that sled truck right there though has 1800 hp, triple 600 for those who don't know math and my guess is most people into sled pulls dont..
well dumbass. What hasn't been done to that truck would be a better question. Probably over 100k into custom work. Something you'll never be able to do

yea the factories spend millions of dollars on reserch to get the lines perfect,, they are as close to the same length as possible for timing reasons,, it only takes a few milli seconds for the "pulse" of fuel to travel down the lines,, and you damn shure don't want it to be too advanced "BTDC", if you inject fuel before top dead center, very bad things happen..
yes that is what I said "and you damn shure don't want it too advanced" I wasn't for certain you would know what I meant so I put it in kinda laymans terms and spittin' injectors have been the demise of many a piston crowns
My injection pump has duel stage injection, evidently most do, that is pre injection squirt then main injection after a few degrees whish is interesting.
All engines have different cam rings/ pump cams for different engines, evidently, I was trying to adapt a bosch pump for my car but failed for this reason.
I have a lucas pump, at full fuelling but hardly any smoke, need more power, my boost cant safely go any higher with this intercooler. Was considering a little more advance- what say u?
What kind of vehicle/engine?? it might help to count the # of teeth on old pump gear are they strait or helical cut??? I seen the Double Overtime truck in person last year at the DHRA finals and I told my buddy thats a fuckin Cat pump from a 3408-- 08 meaning V8 the guy was dumbfounded that I knew that, and not to give away all his secrets he said "yea it has a few Cat parts on it"!!!! so everyone can argue that it's a MACK pump, I think the magazines got it wrong...

Its a 7.3L powerstroke bud. Its got a custom injection set up. And anything can make 1800hp if you threw enough money at it. Dont be all scared of it just because its a powerstroke and its making cummins type hp.
thedieseldr, in your other comments you seem to know your stuff pretty well, VERY rare on youtube or in general... i don't believe that the owner of this truck has ever actually told the magazines that it is an injection pump off of a mack like many people say, i think they just took a guess... you could be right though with the Cat pump, i have no idea about Cats and we won't know until other people start going with mechanical 7.3s
stroked out is a very good running truck but not AS competitive as double overtime has been, this year might change that though? well then again so will the common rail 7.3s... ;)
It would be nice, but the heads still flow crap. And the rod ratio is still not good. The blocks crack as well. For below 800 rwhp its is not bad, but to go over that I think that the new 6.7 ford built will be our best bet yet. graphite deep skirt block, 6 bolt mains, 4 valve heads ect solve all those probs, and the stock rods are Mahle!

hey tyler, i understand what your saying here, and your right, a 12 valve would be extremely cheaper. But that wasn't the point behind it. He wanted to build a powerstroke that could keep up with the cummins. And Pattyrack : That second exhaust is for the turbo blowoff
Yo fordcountryboy I agree.. Man Idk much about Diesels, but I do know a little and even I knew that second pipe blowing black smoke was a blow off valve... Ppl like us have to edify the idiots... lol
Congrats I'm not a Diesel man, and I even said that Idk much about Diesels.....! I know my bad a blow off valve is plumbed into the intake tube and relieves intake pressure during gear changes.. And the waste-gate is plumbed in with the exhaust system..
(Qoute) "Yo fordcountryboy I agree.. Man Idk much about Diesels, but I do know a little and even I knew that second pipe blowing black smoke was a blow off valve... Ppl like us have to edify the idiots... lol"
I rest my case the comment was on the original not the follow up "DUH" .
wow!!! I would like to see this truck go up against Big Bad Dodge some day for a little friendly competition. Hope to see D.O. in near future. Great video!!! What model ford is it?
i think it's funny how all the cummins guys have to come in here and start talking some mad shit... read the diesel power mag and see what it has done to it and quit your crying cause you can't believe a 7.3 block can crank out this power. and any truck can pull 400 feet if the sled isn't set up right... i can admit if a cummins or dmax or cat or whatever is a bad ass truck/drivetrain. it's pretty sad that all you can't
@fordcountryboy I am a Cummins fan\owner, and I can admit this is a bad truck but the guy has way to much money in it. The owner said in DP he has more money in the heads as he does in the entire shortblock and he would not do it again, he just wanted to compete with the Cummins and Duramax big boys and he has done it. Nice setup but everyone knows cummins is way easier to get big power from.
@90dsm1 I have had 2 cummins. got one sittin in my driveway leakin all over the place. I love them both. reliable as hell and great torque. I understand how expensive it is to build a powerstroke. hell, i'm gonna drop 2 grand into mine just to keep it running for years. i haven't done anything preventive maintenance wise to my cummins other than head studs and a water pump and its around 450 hp, if i did that to my ford, boom. some people just like to be a little different, not follow the crowd
@fordcountryboy i know i agree with you man. u never see the ford guys go on the cummins or dmax vids and talk shit but they always come on the ford videos and tzlk shit about the fords. the 7.3 is the best engine for small trucks
runner4life1984...i meant to say that the block itslf has not been honed or tamperd...the internals have been swapped out for stronger pieces of course...no stock internal cummins, d-max, or PSD can handle 160psi...and yes running a stock block/internals with this much is just insane...and messy once u break everything as u pull out of the drive way lol
actually yes stock cummins internals can handle 160psi the only think that you have to do is stud the head and get a marine copper head gasket to hold it together the pisons rods cam crank all that can hold the boost
yea ok maybe...ONCE... but for a full season? i doubt it...i know the rest of a dodge truck will fall apart before the cummins does but that only goes so far...this truck had no exdpense spared
no a stock cummins cant handle 160 pounds of boost with the stock compression ratio. ever wonder why they start pulling and drag cummins with either??? because they dont have stock compression ratios because the pistons have had the tops machined off a few thousands. fwi most extremly high hp 1400+ cummins trucks dont run dodge cummins blocks. their a marine block usually. so the block wont break in 2
Why run stock with that much hp? Stock engine will soon give out since its not made to handle the hp and higher compression. Engine must be modified to produce higher hp from the twin turbos and the upgraded fuel injectors. Its common sense!!!!
have u seend scott vorhees modified 1,800 hp cummins? check out "svorhees" and the puller with a ford body, double overtime is NOTHING! Scott made a 350 foot pull in Redding, CA, thats right 350!
thats why double over time has won many many pulls. + i would be any amount of money he isnt running a dodge cummins block. its a marine or genset block. this 7.3 is using a heavily girdeled and reinforced stock psd block that came in the trucks.
I've seen Cummins powered trucks pull nearly 400 feet before. Also those Cummins trucks DO run factory Cummins blocks, and at those power levels they also do a lot of reinforcing. No marine or genset blocks needed.
bullshit at that horse power that truck can not run a stock crank its a proformance cranks its not stock i should now my 800hp cummins does not have a stock crank in it
if it did the engine would just eat it apart with the horse power its pushing.
you are right my friend, that's one of the very few things stock except the interior and it even has a friggin' hand control throttle so it's more consistent, now one thing is how much more power could he gotten out of a cummins for the money he had to spend to get the power out of the stroker, i admit it's cool a little impractical but cool non-the-less
ya i have no idea about that block, i know it is girdled. this cummins is currentley "detuned" because there is no one on the west coast that can compete with it, helps with longevity too. he could have pulled farther on the 350 footer, but there was no track left, lol.
you are all wrong i seen this truck in diesel power and it stated that there are way north of 1500 horsepower under that hood the radiator is in the bed cause the turbo is so big
Well, interestingly enough it's Cummins I6 engines that have been dominating high performance diesels for years now, producing more power than the competitors. Cummin's record speaks for itself.
No it's a 3408 Cat pump, I seen it in Baytown TX at the DHRA finals, I pointed it out to my friend, also all the injector lines are bent all nice a strait and pretty, HOW THE FUCK CAN THEY BE IN TIME???? I'm talking micro seconds here but it's still an edge..it still takes a specific amount of time for the pulse of fuel to travel down the injector line.. that is why everyone else's lines look like spagetti, so they are in time!!!!! My name wouldn't be THEDIESELDOCTOR if I didn't know anything
powerstroke2100 if that's the case then explain why DO is the ONLY 7.3 in this class, the rest are all Cummins powered trucks and they all pull just as well on any given day. You clearly showed how little intelligence you have with that comment.
this truck has maxed out the range almost every time it has pulled, i have been watching it very closely. and the only reason it is the only 7.3 is because it is easier to get that power out of a cummins so no one has really tried it but if you have enough money you can build any diesel to that kind of power.
Vapor you're waaaay wrong dude! It's pretty much a one-off 7.3. You should probably try a q-tip sometime, you might be able to hear a little better....you should be able to tell these engines apart by sound.
why do you have two stacks on the front and im asking this because the one had a lot more exhaust coming out of it than the other so whats the reason for that?

On modern high powered or competition diesels do they actually focus on shape of injector lines for optimum flow etc?
I visited a cummins factory on a tour and they talked about tuned length injector lines, all lines being same length.
Can u tell me anything about this/ have u found out much about this?
Making injector lines must be tricky to get right, do u make em up at ur shop?

Congrats I'm not a Diesel man, and I even said that Idk much about Diesels.....! I know my bad a blow off valve is plumbed into the intake tube and relieves intake pressure during gear changes.. And the waste-gate is plumbed in with the exhaust system..
PureAmericanMuscle69 3 years ago
not all do. mine doesnt. and dont try to tell me im wrong. ight?
powerstroke45 3 years ago
Its not a blow off valve its a waste gate that was dumping excess exhaust presure into the air.
eric1978 3 years ago
eric1978 No Duh!!! That is what I said...!
PureAmericanMuscle69 3 years ago
(Qoute) "Yo fordcountryboy I agree.. Man Idk much about Diesels, but I do know a little and even I knew that second pipe blowing black smoke was a blow off valve... Ppl like us have to edify the idiots... lol"
I rest my case the comment was on the original not the follow up "DUH" .
eric1978 3 years ago
I called em out on it too!!! To edify an idiot,, Diesels have waste gates !!!!! haha

What's the secondary exhaust? WG?

wow!!! I would like to see this truck go up against Big Bad Dodge some day for a little friendly competition. Hope to see D.O. in near future. Great video!!! What model ford is it?
runner4life1984 4 years ago
i think it's funny how all the cummins guys have to come in here and start talking some mad shit... read the diesel power mag and see what it has done to it and quit your crying cause you can't believe a 7.3 block can crank out this power. and any truck can pull 400 feet if the sled isn't set up right... i can admit if a cummins or dmax or cat or whatever is a bad ass truck/drivetrain. it's pretty sad that all you can't
fordcountryboy 4 years ago 15
@fordcountryboy Its a 7.3 bottom end but the rest of the engine while still international is far from a 7.3
budbullrider 1 year ago
@fordcountryboy Isn't that a tube frame truck anyway, so OEM frame is kind of a moot point to argue? W/e. Fanboys are impossible.
Reaper87xx 1 year ago
@fordcountryboy I am a Cummins fan\owner, and I can admit this is a bad truck but the guy has way to much money in it. The owner said in DP he has more money in the heads as he does in the entire shortblock and he would not do it again, he just wanted to compete with the Cummins and Duramax big boys and he has done it. Nice setup but everyone knows cummins is way easier to get big power from.
90dsm1 1 year ago
@90dsm1 I have had 2 cummins. got one sittin in my driveway leakin all over the place. I love them both. reliable as hell and great torque. I understand how expensive it is to build a powerstroke. hell, i'm gonna drop 2 grand into mine just to keep it running for years. i haven't done anything preventive maintenance wise to my cummins other than head studs and a water pump and its around 450 hp, if i did that to my ford, boom. some people just like to be a little different, not follow the crowd
fordcountryboy 9 months ago
@fordcountryboy i know i agree with you man. u never see the ford guys go on the cummins or dmax vids and talk shit but they always come on the ford videos and tzlk shit about the fords. the 7.3 is the best engine for small trucks
getajobobama 9 months ago
runner4life1984...i meant to say that the block itslf has not been honed or tamperd...the internals have been swapped out for stronger pieces of course...no stock internal cummins, d-max, or PSD can handle 160psi...and yes running a stock block/internals with this much is just insane...and messy once u break everything as u pull out of the drive way lol
seniorcat03 4 years ago
actually yes stock cummins internals can handle 160psi the only think that you have to do is stud the head and get a marine copper head gasket to hold it together the pisons rods cam crank all that can hold the boost
fasttalker83 4 years ago
yea ok maybe...ONCE... but for a full season? i doubt it...i know the rest of a dodge truck will fall apart before the cummins does but that only goes so far...this truck had no exdpense spared
seniorcat03 4 years ago
no a stock cummins cant handle 160 pounds of boost with the stock compression ratio. ever wonder why they start pulling and drag cummins with either??? because they dont have stock compression ratios because the pistons have had the tops machined off a few thousands. fwi most extremly high hp 1400+ cummins trucks dont run dodge cummins blocks. their a marine block usually. so the block wont break in 2
psdpowerstroke 3 years ago
zookie400 is correct...block has not been honed or tampered with in any way...sick powerstroke!!
seniorcat03 4 years ago
Why run stock with that much hp? Stock engine will soon give out since its not made to handle the hp and higher compression. Engine must be modified to produce higher hp from the twin turbos and the upgraded fuel injectors. Its common sense!!!!
runner4life1984 4 years ago
screw u and ur cummins this truck here could kill any of em
sam95e 4 years ago
That ain't no damned cummins. Thats a Ford 7.3 liter diesel. Highly modified with 160pounds of boost from the two turbos.
woodsman1989 4 years ago
in diesel power it says upwards of 200 psi that turbo is bigger than a bulls ass
love the injection setup on it too
peterbiltforlife 4 years ago
have u seend scott vorhees modified 1,800 hp cummins? check out "svorhees" and the puller with a ford body, double overtime is NOTHING! Scott made a 350 foot pull in Redding, CA, thats right 350!
jdmtv140 4 years ago
thats why double over time has won many many pulls. + i would be any amount of money he isnt running a dodge cummins block. its a marine or genset block. this 7.3 is using a heavily girdeled and reinforced stock psd block that came in the trucks.
nm389 4 years ago
oh i forgot doubleovertime has pulled about 368 feet before so looks like the 1800hp cummins is still 18 feet behind the psd.
nm389 4 years ago
I've seen Cummins powered trucks pull nearly 400 feet before. Also those Cummins trucks DO run factory Cummins blocks, and at those power levels they also do a lot of reinforcing. No marine or genset blocks needed.
DieselTruckin 4 years ago
double overtime has the factory block, and crankshaft
zookie400 4 years ago
And?
DieselTruckin 4 years ago
bullshit at that horse power that truck can not run a stock crank its a proformance cranks its not stock i should now my 800hp cummins does not have a stock crank in it
if it did the engine would just eat it apart with the horse power its pushing.
dodgedude101 4 years ago
read the article on this truck in "diesel power"....stock crank, 7000 rpms, and in excess of 1500 HP
zookie400 4 years ago
you are right my friend, that's one of the very few things stock except the interior and it even has a friggin' hand control throttle so it's more consistent, now one thing is how much more power could he gotten out of a cummins for the money he had to spend to get the power out of the stroker, i admit it's cool a little impractical but cool non-the-less
tylerw1901 4 years ago
ya i have no idea about that block, i know it is girdled. this cummins is currentley "detuned" because there is no one on the west coast that can compete with it, helps with longevity too. he could have pulled farther on the 350 footer, but there was no track left, lol.
jdmtv140 4 years ago
cummins is strokers mess in that pull deerfishshoot is right its a HIGHLY customize 7.3L POWERSTROKE 1500 HP ford baby
sam95e 4 years ago
you are all wrong i seen this truck in diesel power and it stated that there are way north of 1500 horsepower under that hood the radiator is in the bed cause the turbo is so big
deerfishshoot 4 years ago
there are 2 of those big turbos actually.
zookie400 4 years ago
you wish that was a cummins, dodgeboy. why do you think mine engines are v8's? Cause They produce more POWER!
dieselman0 4 years ago
Well, interestingly enough it's Cummins I6 engines that have been dominating high performance diesels for years now, producing more power than the competitors. Cummin's record speaks for itself.
DieselTruckin 4 years ago
No Its actually a 7.3 V8 with a Mack V8 injection pump.
Bennyboy46a 4 years ago
No it's a 3408 Cat pump, I seen it in Baytown TX at the DHRA finals, I pointed it out to my friend, also all the injector lines are bent all nice a strait and pretty, HOW THE FUCK CAN THEY BE IN TIME???? I'm talking micro seconds here but it's still an edge..it still takes a specific amount of time for the pulse of fuel to travel down the injector line.. that is why everyone else's lines look like spagetti, so they are in time!!!!! My name wouldn't be THEDIESELDOCTOR if I didn't know anything
TheDieselDr 3 years ago
Cocky aint ya?
Bennyboy46a 3 years ago 2
thats a cummins motor in that truck.
Vapor300 4 years ago
a cum sucker couldnt pull that far SORRY plus why disgrace the ford with a straight six
POWERSTROKE2100 4 years ago
powerstroke2100 if that's the case then explain why DO is the ONLY 7.3 in this class, the rest are all Cummins powered trucks and they all pull just as well on any given day. You clearly showed how little intelligence you have with that comment.
DieselTruckin 4 years ago
this truck has maxed out the range almost every time it has pulled, i have been watching it very closely. and the only reason it is the only 7.3 is because it is easier to get that power out of a cummins so no one has really tried it but if you have enough money you can build any diesel to that kind of power.
POWERSTROKE2100 4 years ago
check last month diesel power magazine, double overtime is on the cover, and that is no freeking cummins!
zookie400 4 years ago
never said it was?
POWERSTROKE2100 4 years ago
Negative ghost rider. 7.3 ppumped. 100+k motor alone.
07psdrookie 4 years ago
Vapor you're waaaay wrong dude! It's pretty much a one-off 7.3. You should probably try a q-tip sometime, you might be able to hear a little better....you should be able to tell these engines apart by sound.
DieselTruckin 4 years ago
nope your a dumb ass
