It is a legend. Obviously, some have believed and some contend this aspect - but for me it isn't any issue.
If you want to not to have any dehdhari guru, nobody can deny this to you (which is a false notion anyway as Gur-Khalsa is also one of the Deh of the Satgur) - and if some people have a mentor, a teacher, an inspiration or a guru, one cannot deny this.
No idea can ever be imposed on anyone and that is the Gur-Sikhi way.
Mom-dad, any elder who has ever taught you is your dehdhari guru....
Well well. The ultimate controversy rages on. As Sikhs, how do we live with two sets of rules? This has always confused me. On one hand, it is in our tradition that we have a living Guru. On the other there is now a prohibition. One has to look at what other Gurus said about this and it is very, very puzzling. Indeed. Guru Amar Dass said "Guru Bina Gat Nahi, Shah Binah Pat Nahi" and In Aasa Di Vaar it says "Gur bin Gian Nah Hoe"
In AAsa Di Vaar, it says, "iF THERE SHINED UPON YOU THE LIGHT OF A THOUSAND MOONS AND A THOUSAND SUNS, YOU ARE STILL IN THE DARK WITHOUT YOUR GURU". Now, as a Sikh, how am I supposed to regard the words of the other Gurus who did practice the tradition of having a living teacher. Hmmmmm. All of our Gurus said there must be a GURU. And they did mention anything about the Guru Granth Sahib. However, It is also said by Guru Gobindh Singh, who I believe in dearly, that
Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khas, for example. Rahini Rehe Soie Sikh Mera,........Mai oska Chehra.....Jab Lag Khalsa Rehe Niara, Tab Lag TeJ dio Mai Sara". Guru Gobindh Singh made it clear that he was investing his Guruship to the Khalsa Panth. He said "where there are five Singhs, there you will find God" Guru Gobindh Singh I believe may have broken this tradition and that was his right. He made it clear that his Khalsa Panth was now "in charge" and there was no difference between him and them.
So the million dollar question is this - What was Guru Gobindh Singh's intent when he said that the "Khalsa is my life" ? Or when he said the Khalsa was his Guru? He did bow to the Pan Piares and take Amrit from them, so obviously, he meant that he and the Khalsa are inseperable. So, it becomes very clear that the Khalsa's role may be the replacement for a living Guru. "Wherever there are five Sikhs in one place, there is God in that place". Hmmmmmmm.
Guru Teg Bahadur is the only martyr who paid with his life to save the right of every individual to worship in the way they want. No body has any copyright on anything.
As a Gurusikh it is also our responsibility to not to dishonour and disrespect any one and their feelings.
If some want to have a guru in person - they have every divine right to do so and on the other hand if their are people who do not want to have any human embodied master - it is fine.
Guru Teg Bahadur was starting a new religion. His mission was to spark a new movement and give the Gurgadhi to his most worthy son, whose mission it was to execute on the will of Akal Purakh. Guru Gobindh Singh, the incarnation of Shiva on Earth, was the executor of God's Will and Pleasure. The method of delivery of the Gurgadhi was most proper and righteous via his martyrdom which proved that he was beyond the fear of death. Let me correct you. He was starting a new faith.
Satguru Nanak did not create a new faith. He was God himself and did not cater to "faiths". Creating a faith was beneath him. "Just like the colors of the safflower are impermanent, such are the colors of religiosity". He viewed very dimly "religions" of any kind. The only reason Guru Teg Bahadur wanted to create a seperate religion was so that Guru Nanak's teachings and the order he started would be preserved in it's original form, rather than seeing it get swallowed by Islam or Hinduism.
Talk about music man! what this shit about namdari and sikh?
my mom was a sikh and she taught me somethin man nothin changed from Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh! I dont keep no hair and smoke too but my heart is sikh like my mom.
i love pinky man - he god for me
harisinghnalwa1 u know nothin man. nobody can swallow siki man nobody!!!!!
okk then ur not a sikh if u dont follow the rules...namdharis arent namdharis if they dont follow there religion..veryone shud follow there own religon
@harisinghnalwa1 brother i like everything else you said. but this is wack and embarrasing that you said this. you can state the khalsa panth is a step ahead of sikhi which in fact is universal to those who wish to follow it. but to be khalis, part of the khalsa is more because they are akal purakh ki fauj, which fights for all that need aid desptie color caste creed e.g. unification with surnames singh and kaur, creation of dress code, (Bana) etc. but no, not a new "religion." sikhi leads to it
Hari nos nothin maan! for me who tinks Guru Nanak is different than Guru 9 and 10 is no sikh dont get overexcited man. Gru 10 said 'those who call me god shall perish in hel". hari who call Guru Nanak god goes to hell. man good luck there/
If you don't understand the concept and fact that Guru Nanak was Akal Purakh himself in a human body, then you don't ever have a chance of being a Sikh! In fact, Guru Nanak himself was frustrated at the world for not recognizing him for what he really was. In Sindh, when the Muslims tried to kill after calling him a Nonbeliever, they tied him up with ropes wrapped him in a blanket, attached bricks to him with chains and threw him in the ocean.
To their shock and amazement, he was standing 10 feet behind them, smiling. They panicked and started running, screaming out that they had seen a ghost. Instead of recognizing God himself, they called him a Ghost. Guru Nanak writes "Koei Kahe Bhootna, Koei Aakhey Betala, Koe Kahe Aadmey, Nanak Bichara". Translated "Some call me a Ghost, some say say I am a phony, some call me just a man but no one could recognize me for what I am". He was God on Earth but very few could see it.
That is why we say, Dhunn Dhunn Satguru Nanak, Tuhin Nirankar " or Satguru Nanak Bhargattia, Mitti Dhund Jagg Channan Hoa". He was one and the same with Akal Purakh. God is so complex, there is no way we can see him except when he takes the form of a human. This is a fact. And yes, Guru Nanak was very different from the other Gurus, but that does not mean they were not great. They were greater than we can imagine. But Guru Nanak was the light from which all light comes from.
First of all, you are very arrogant to act as if you understand the true nature of God, Akal Purakh. Before you repeat Gurbani, please take the time to immerse yourself and understand in it's entirety. That sentence you pull out, was meant to show us and tell us that we need to be humble. You cannot recieve God in your life unless you are humble and understand that it is like a marriage and you are the bride. His intent was only to humble us. It does not reflect who he was.
Now, on a personal note, before you call me a kid, bear in mind that I am 5 years your elder. I spend four hours everyday reading the Guru Granth Sahibh. The only one who needs awakening is you. How can there be any hope for you when you refuse to give Satguru Nanak his rightfull place in your mind. In our religion, the true Guru is the same as God. In fact, once you find the true Guru, there is no need to look any further for anything. Guru Nanak is that Guru for me.
So, mr. Bakwas, what do you think Guru Nanak was? Some kinda Saint or do you think he was "like Jesus" or a "teacher"? You seem like one of those fools who wouldn't recognize God when he right in front of them. Guru Nanak was Akal Purakh in a form our eyes and ears could handle. Fool! How can you not know this! '"Moorakh Sach Na Janani, Manmukhi Janam Gagaya, Vich Dhunia'ch Kahe Aaayaaaaa, Vich Dunia'ch Kahe Aayaa". Please, recognize the Avatar of this age, our Beloved Satguru Nanak.
you just proved my asesment of u rite. what about he sayz 'main banjaran ram ki'? he is honest so does not say main ram. speaking about him the way you do does not make him anything big. respecting him n believing what he says he is, is actually respecting him. u r too much of 'my god and their god' n what is religon btw? GN sayz there is no relizon no hindu muslman sikh or any thing else. we all the same kind but what would u know? enjoy the music kid n let others talk filosofee not ur cake....
Bakwas2z, the Guru's all taught us to be humble. But just because one is humble does not take away greatness. Guru Nanak was the Kalyug da Avattar. Ask any Gursikh or Giani. I don't mind you calling me a kid. As you get older, you like holding on to your youth, but I need to remind you that I am your elder. Bakwasa2z, there is no sense in explaining this stuff to you. You just don't get it. I am sorry I wasted my time trying to explain to you the truth.
I suppose I should ask you first before passing judgement on you - What do you consider Guru Nanak to be? You say your mother is a Sikh - does that mean you are one? I you know so much, then teach me. What was Guru Nanak? Was he just an ordinary man? Was he an ordinary Guru? Was he some Yoga guy? Was he just a poet? What was Guru Nanak, in your opinion. Shed some light.
hsn1 you did not answer my first question. do you believe about the 3 day n night act of disapearnce in the river by GN? what did god sayth to GN? he was like gawd had become one with gawd but he never said i am god. i will believe what he says about himself and not what ur kinda understandin wanna portray to people. i have respect for the granthis ragis and sants etc but they have their own agenda n i wld rather belive what GN says.
believe what you want, don't try and FORCE what you believe on others. This makes every one happy and allows every one to believe what they want to believe.
Yes, I do believe the fact that Guru Nanak dissapeared into the river just as written in Janam Sakhi Bhai Bala Sandhu. I don't know what happened underneath the water. Perhaps one day I will know. What to do you think happened? What did God say to Guru Nanak? I really don't know. Do you? Ragis and Sants do not have any agenda. They are providing a service for all of us sinners and Beh-Gurs out their. Do not speak bad of Sants and those who sing Bani. This is a sin.
hsn1 do sum reserch boy. if i sayth somethin u will just wanna deny it. i seen plenty of ragees and sunts very rare gud people cum arnd - mostly just after money n power. they r like beggars tat i hav seen. no wonder i stay away frm them now. 2-3 godlike have died in last few yrs so i am very sad and upset the kinda variety tht i c, no disrepect but speakin straight frm the heart.
I appreciate that. The heart is where everything you say should come from. While I agree with you that some people out there take advantage of devoted people, we cannot allow them to define us. There have always been people who take advantage and are fake. When Guru Teg Bahadur was found, there were over 22 Sodhis claiming they were the Guru. Guru Gobindh Singh had to burn the Massandhs when the refused to stop desicrating our holy places. This is nothing new. But, you cannot allow
people like that to keep you away from ever opening your heart and mind to the real saints and the real people like the ones I know from entering your life. You cannot allow yourself to be a cynic. I sense that in you. You cannot allow the bad in the world to define you. We, are always seeking the people in this world, however few they are, that are real.
May Guru Nanak shower his blessing on you. Vaheguru.
Guru Arjun Dev Ji says "If you fear your death, if this makes you worry, SEEK THE COMPANY OF SAINTS". Look, don't let the bad spoil your chance of being in the company of good people. Even when Guru Nanak was around there was plenty of fakes. This is nothing new. Some people even called Guru Nanak a fake, just to give you an example of how this kind of cynical mindset could actually keep you away from a Guru, Sant or Mahatma. Don't let this screwed up world define you.
Let go of your hate and arrogance. Squeaze the bitterness out of you like you would squeaze dirty water out of a towel. You have let this world affect you. I can sense it and I can feel it. STOP IT NOW! There is hope, but there is no hope for a cynic. Stop being the Cynic. Everyday you are alive is a good day and better days are to come if you live a good life. Keep speaking from the heart, but always look for the good and give humans the benefit, nomatter how bad they may be. Sat Kartar.
@khalsafauj47 ,have you ever read the Gurugranth? understood each phrase? on which page it was mentioned Guru saheb said there wont be any physical Guru after himself? i feel pity on peoples who have never understood nor never read it properly and just come up with baseless topic to argue. Guru tradition can not be end. even many holy literature have been modified by some of selfish and British. Open your mind by saying that you are stopping your options.
Guru or no Guru - Fuhgeddaboutit... look at the content of what they are sharing. You don't have to agree with everything to appreciate and learn something great. ENJOY and relax. no need to start a jihad.
Bhai Sahib, this video is awesome - if you can please post the full video.
Its a shame some people are too ignorant to appreciate this piece of art and spend time bikcering over Namdharis and Amritdhari - just rememeber that we will be judged by our actions not our titles or status !!!
Bhai Baldeep Singh Ji, I was very pleased to see this video. When the blessings of SaguruJi, I have had the privellage to acompany all of those mahan Raagi's on stage. PLease send me details about how I can see full video. Keep up the great work. Sarbath Ka Bhalla
just to clarify, the namdhari satguru does not "replace" the presense of guru granth sahib ji. he himself sits below the guru guru granth sahib ji when the parkash is taking place, this in itself says everything to those who believe hes taking the gurus place. the satguru's job is to teach gurbani from the guru granth sahib and guide namdhari sikhs.
The love and the vision with which Maharaj Pratap Singhji inspired a generation of responsible bearers of the excellence endowed by Guru Nanak and subsequent gurus, encouraged his two illustrious sons to spend thousands of hours in learning the Har-kirtan vidya, who have in turn done something extraordinary in producing a generation of kirtan enthusiasts and practitioners - Is this not a proof enough of the status of Gurbani and its upved, Kirtan, in the Namdhari tradition?
What have the rest of our friends (enemies) of both, the tangible as well as the intangible heritage of the Gur-darbar done in the last 70 years? Destroyed it!
Where, how and why has shastra/shastr/kirtan vidya, aesthetics/semantics/mannerism /ethics,
humility/truthfulness/a sense of civic-social sense
and responsibility, to name just a few, vanished?
A critique, objective and constructive in nature, but only of a vidvan or a knowledgeable one counts!
Raj karega ga khalsa!!!!!!! All 10 gurus were unimmaginably great! And made such fierce sacrifices for our religion!! And dhan sri guru granth sahib ji has eternal reign as guru for us!!! How can such human being take the place of maharaj!!! foolish!!
My 9th Guru Teg Bahadur is the only martyr, to my limited knowledge, who paid with his own life to save this privilege from being taken away that every person/s have a divine right to choose and practice their own path.
No can challenge that.
This place is not to discuss these matters either.
The Namdharis have not concocted a new music. They learnt it from some of the most important Rababi and Gur-Sikh exponents, such as Bhai Tabba, Bhai Naseera, Bhai Arjan Singh Tarangar, Bhai Harnam Singh..
If you would ever get to know the humility of Maharaj Pratap Singhji, who would seat the legendary Bhai Sahib Bhai Jwala Singhji of Thatha Tibba on his pillow side, then you would perhaps have a change of mind.
Maharaj Bir Singh Namdhari used to write me letters containing some of the compositions he learnt from my great elders. He did not discriminate me just because I was an 'amritdhari'.
If by any chance you have been hurt or disappointed by a Namdhari's conduct, which may have led you to believe as you do, I can tell you, sadly though, that I have seen countless idiots within the Sikh community. Before I can hurl invectives at others I am reminded of the sad state of affairs within the house I count as my own.
Sikhs themselves, and not others, have lost their precious heritage.
Rather focus on values & inner wealth that the dear gurus endowed us with, to become 'nyara' again.
Do you think we care whether you think we are sikhs or not. Tell me much of a gursikh are you? Here is a simple question for you. Did Guru Gobind Singh Ji write the dasam Granth? Secondly who stood up against the british raj? Answer Namdhari Sikhs with the blessings of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji.
jbudwalji, one must not get perturbed by opinion making. People have opinions which aren't necessarily correct. Moreover this is not a forum for entering such debates. Personally, it is sad when a viewer gets entangled in the performer' names & dress codes without giving any consideration to what they present or represent (Gur-kirtan in this case). One must be objective & keep personal preferences, tastes, beliefs and even tampered histories at times out of such forums.
If a sikh is a learner, who can say who is and who is not?
It's great to see this website celebrating a common heritage, recognizing what makes us the same. Guru Nanak brought people from different religions together into one community. Is it possible to bring people from different expressions of Sikhi into one community?
This video is a part of the documentary - The Sacred Music of the Sikhs - and will be available in it when the movie is made available later this year or early next year. I have plans o include complete shabads in the DVD for the benefit of all Kirtan students and heritage enthusiasts like me and you. Thanks for your interest and patronage.
I wouldnt refer to these great artists as "Bhais" they are Ustads... Ustad Harbans Singh Namdhari ("Ghulla"), Ustad Sukhdev Singh Namdhari and Ustad Balwant Singh Namdhari.
Where can i view the entire video this seems to be only a short clip, have you got anymore by this raagi, who is he ?? name etc , places to download or listern to his kirtan
Initially it would have taken time, but just last week the 250 GB Maxtor hard drive with all my earlier film projects crashed! I was hoping to do the final edits before releasing it but it seems now that the version that I showed at the Spinning Film Festival will be the one i will have to release on DVD soon, perhaps later towards the end of this year.
I had spent hundreds of hours editing various documents/aries and that edited part is on that HD. Today I had a good news that the files are retrievable but is going to be expensive, but of course I have given a go ahead. All files, they said will be in one folder no linkages, so we shall see what is possible.
The originals are on tape and we are planning to raise funds for a 12TB Promise Storage for Apple and a newer Macpro computer. Hopefully our non-profit will get them soon.
people have 4gttn that baba ram singh did alot of seva for the panth and he made 6 million gursikhs or so at one point in time punjab was full of namdharis ! gyani gian singh ji has said nirmale nihang kook singha are 3 khalse of guru maharaj !
There is huge criteria to be considered as Gur-Sikhs, although this isn't a forum to discuss issues apart from the posts, to my knowledge Namdharis have a lot of inner wealth to be called as Gur-Sikhs.
If you allow me to play DA, your very question can disqualify you as a Sikh! No offense meant here, but let us not just get in to such judgmental quandaries...
The 10 beloved gurus have left behind an extraordinary riches. Our Namdhari friends have received a lot of that riches, let's cherish it.
Loads of things have been askd and said, many a historians have debated alot over this but still no conclusion..so better leave this on akal-purakh to deciede wat they are and wat they arent..assi mahapurkha di charan dhool de samaan vi nahi to conclude anything.
Bhai Baldeep Singh ji I still haven't been able to find your documentary is there any chance you can help me.

He made it clear that his Khalsa Panth was now "in charge" and there was no difference between him and them.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
Hopefully, you do regard the words of Guru Gobindh Singh as the Word of God himself.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
So the million dollar question is this - What was Guru Gobindh Singh's intent when he said that the "Khalsa is my life" ? Or when he said the Khalsa was his Guru? He did bow to the Pan Piares and take Amrit from them, so obviously, he meant that he and the Khalsa are inseperable. So, it becomes very clear that the Khalsa's role may be the replacement for a living Guru. "Wherever there are five Sikhs in one place, there is God in that place". Hmmmmmmm.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
Guru Teg Bahadur is the only martyr who paid with his life to save the right of every individual to worship in the way they want. No body has any copyright on anything.
As a Gurusikh it is also our responsibility to not to dishonour and disrespect any one and their feelings.
If some want to have a guru in person - they have every divine right to do so and on the other hand if their are people who do not want to have any human embodied master - it is fine.
Look at the virtues and nothing else.
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
Guru Teg Bahadur was starting a new religion. His mission was to spark a new movement and give the Gurgadhi to his most worthy son, whose mission it was to execute on the will of Akal Purakh. Guru Gobindh Singh, the incarnation of Shiva on Earth, was the executor of God's Will and Pleasure. The method of delivery of the Gurgadhi was most proper and righteous via his martyrdom which proved that he was beyond the fear of death. Let me correct you. He was starting a new faith.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
To my knowledge, there were no two faiths from Guru Nanak till Guru Gobind Singh.
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
Satguru Nanak did not create a new faith. He was God himself and did not cater to "faiths". Creating a faith was beneath him. "Just like the colors of the safflower are impermanent, such are the colors of religiosity". He viewed very dimly "religions" of any kind. The only reason Guru Teg Bahadur wanted to create a seperate religion was so that Guru Nanak's teachings and the order he started would be preserved in it's original form, rather than seeing it get swallowed by Islam or Hinduism.

@harisinghnalwa1 brother i like everything else you said. but this is wack and embarrasing that you said this. you can state the khalsa panth is a step ahead of sikhi which in fact is universal to those who wish to follow it. but to be khalis, part of the khalsa is more because they are akal purakh ki fauj, which fights for all that need aid desptie color caste creed e.g. unification with surnames singh and kaur, creation of dress code, (Bana) etc. but no, not a new "religion." sikhi leads to it

bakwasa2z 3 years ago
If you don't understand the concept and fact that Guru Nanak was Akal Purakh himself in a human body, then you don't ever have a chance of being a Sikh! In fact, Guru Nanak himself was frustrated at the world for not recognizing him for what he really was. In Sindh, when the Muslims tried to kill after calling him a Nonbeliever, they tied him up with ropes wrapped him in a blanket, attached bricks to him with chains and threw him in the ocean.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
To their shock and amazement, he was standing 10 feet behind them, smiling. They panicked and started running, screaming out that they had seen a ghost. Instead of recognizing God himself, they called him a Ghost. Guru Nanak writes "Koei Kahe Bhootna, Koei Aakhey Betala, Koe Kahe Aadmey, Nanak Bichara". Translated "Some call me a Ghost, some say say I am a phony, some call me just a man but no one could recognize me for what I am". He was God on Earth but very few could see it.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
That is why we say, Dhunn Dhunn Satguru Nanak, Tuhin Nirankar " or Satguru Nanak Bhargattia, Mitti Dhund Jagg Channan Hoa". He was one and the same with Akal Purakh. God is so complex, there is no way we can see him except when he takes the form of a human. This is a fact. And yes, Guru Nanak was very different from the other Gurus, but that does not mean they were not great. They were greater than we can imagine. But Guru Nanak was the light from which all light comes from.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
GurNanka was then according to you lying when he said "Nanak sada suhagani jine jyoti jyot milae" (Nanak is ever the bride of the One....)
wak up kid i like your respect of the gurus but ur confusing too much things
bakwasa2z 3 years ago
First of all, you are very arrogant to act as if you understand the true nature of God, Akal Purakh. Before you repeat Gurbani, please take the time to immerse yourself and understand in it's entirety. That sentence you pull out, was meant to show us and tell us that we need to be humble. You cannot recieve God in your life unless you are humble and understand that it is like a marriage and you are the bride. His intent was only to humble us. It does not reflect who he was.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
Now, on a personal note, before you call me a kid, bear in mind that I am 5 years your elder. I spend four hours everyday reading the Guru Granth Sahibh. The only one who needs awakening is you. How can there be any hope for you when you refuse to give Satguru Nanak his rightfull place in your mind. In our religion, the true Guru is the same as God. In fact, once you find the true Guru, there is no need to look any further for anything. Guru Nanak is that Guru for me.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago

GN sayz there is no relizon no hindu muslman sikh or any thing else. we all the same kind but what would u know? enjoy the music kid n let others talk filosofee not ur cake....
bakwasa2z 3 years ago
Bakwas2z, the Guru's all taught us to be humble. But just because one is humble does not take away greatness. Guru Nanak was the Kalyug da Avattar. Ask any Gursikh or Giani. I don't mind you calling me a kid. As you get older, you like holding on to your youth, but I need to remind you that I am your elder. Bakwasa2z, there is no sense in explaining this stuff to you. You just don't get it. I am sorry I wasted my time trying to explain to you the truth.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
I suppose I should ask you first before passing judgement on you - What do you consider Guru Nanak to be? You say your mother is a Sikh - does that mean you are one? I you know so much, then teach me. What was Guru Nanak? Was he just an ordinary man? Was he an ordinary Guru? Was he some Yoga guy? Was he just a poet? What was Guru Nanak, in your opinion. Shed some light.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
hsn1 you did not answer my first question. do you believe about the 3 day n night act of disapearnce in the river by GN? what did god sayth to GN? he was like gawd had become one with gawd but he never said i am god. i will believe what he says about himself and not what ur kinda understandin wanna portray to people. i have respect for the granthis ragis and sants etc but they have their own agenda n i wld rather belive what GN says.

What to do you think happened? What did God say to Guru Nanak? I really don't know. Do you? Ragis and Sants do not have any agenda. They are providing a service for all of us sinners and Beh-Gurs out their. Do not speak bad of Sants and those who sing Bani. This is a sin.

But, you cannot allow
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago
people like that to keep you away from ever opening your heart and mind to the real saints and the real people like the ones I know from entering your life. You cannot allow yourself to be a cynic. I sense that in you. You cannot allow the bad in the world to define you. We, are always seeking the people in this world, however few they are, that are real.
May Guru Nanak shower his blessing on you. Vaheguru.
harisinghnalwa1 3 years ago 2

Sat Kartar.

just to clarify, the namdhari satguru does not "replace" the presense of guru granth sahib ji. he himself sits below the guru guru granth sahib ji when the parkash is taking place, this in itself says everything to those who believe hes taking the gurus place. the satguru's job is to teach gurbani from the guru granth sahib and guide namdhari sikhs.

The love and the vision with which Maharaj Pratap Singhji inspired a generation of responsible bearers of the excellence endowed by Guru Nanak and subsequent gurus, encouraged his two illustrious sons to spend thousands of hours in learning the Har-kirtan vidya, who have in turn done something extraordinary in producing a generation of kirtan enthusiasts and practitioners - Is this not a proof enough of the status of Gurbani and its upved, Kirtan, in the Namdhari tradition?
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
What have the rest of our friends (enemies) of both, the tangible as well as the intangible heritage of the Gur-darbar done in the last 70 years? Destroyed it!
Where, how and why has shastra/shastr/kirtan vidya, aesthetics/semantics/mannerism /ethics,
humility/truthfulness/a sense of civic-social sense
and responsibility, to name just a few, vanished?
A critique, objective and constructive in nature, but only of a vidvan or a knowledgeable one counts!

They learnt it from some of the most important Rababi and Gur-Sikh exponents, such as Bhai Tabba, Bhai Naseera, Bhai Arjan Singh Tarangar, Bhai Harnam Singh..
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
If you would ever get to know the humility of Maharaj Pratap Singhji, who would seat the legendary Bhai Sahib Bhai Jwala Singhji of Thatha Tibba on his pillow side, then you would perhaps have a change of mind.
Maharaj Bir Singh Namdhari used to write me letters containing some of the compositions he learnt from my great elders. He did not discriminate me just because I was an 'amritdhari'.
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
If by any chance you have been hurt or disappointed by a Namdhari's conduct, which may have led you to believe as you do, I can tell you, sadly though, that I have seen countless idiots within the Sikh community. Before I can hurl invectives at others I am reminded of the sad state of affairs within the house I count as my own.
Sikhs themselves, and not others, have lost their precious heritage.
Rather focus on values & inner wealth that the dear gurus endowed us with, to become 'nyara' again.
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
Do you think we care whether you think we are sikhs or not. Tell me much of a gursikh are you? Here is a simple question for you. Did Guru Gobind Singh Ji write the dasam Granth? Secondly who stood up against the british raj? Answer Namdhari Sikhs with the blessings of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji.
jbudwal 3 years ago
jbudwalji, one must not get perturbed by opinion making.

How is Bhai inferior to an Ustad? A gurus Kirtaniya is not a notch lower to an 'artist'.
Ustad is a musical-world acclaim where as Bhai is when the Guru honours a Gur-Sikh as his brother/sister.
Personally, I would not touch the comment introducing them.
bhaibaldeep 3 years ago
I second that notion, Rababi and infact Gursikh Parampra used the word Bhai and not Ustad.
Or is it a must to say USTAD Harbans Singh but BHAI Mardana remains a mere Brother?

There is huge criteria to be considered as Gur-Sikhs, although this isn't a forum to discuss issues apart from the posts, to my knowledge Namdharis have a lot of inner wealth to be called as Gur-Sikhs.
If you allow me to play DA, your very question can disqualify you as a Sikh! No offense meant here, but let us not just get in to such judgmental quandaries...
The 10 beloved gurus have left behind an extraordinary riches. Our Namdhari friends have received a lot of that riches, let's cherish it.
