i lowsided one time goin bout 85 on my r6...i burnt bout half of my toe off, half of my palm, all the skin on my knee and a qaurter of my thumb...luckily I did have on a helmet and a leather jacket so my head arms and torso went unharmed...but i wish i had on some boots instead of a pair of nike airmaxs and some gloves on when I went down.....wear your gear people it saves lives and skin.

Carrying a helmet around is annoying enough, II'd rather have road rash scars than to carry around a change of clothing for the times I ride my bike to go to work and other normal person things. If you're riding your bike for the sake or riding your bike, go for it. But some of us have lives that get messed with from jackets and pants. Bleh.
All good points - I've picked up a couple of clowns who thought they were invincible - hence didn't wear appropriate gear. I've had two sliders since I started riding in 2006. Once on the track and also once on a open road in PA. I mainly stick to the track but both times the leather saved me for sure. Both crashes were about 80-90mph without a scratch, just bruising on my hip. Make sure your gloves have pinky protection too! Riding without full leathers won't happen for me. Pants are just as important as a jacket, all it takes is for you to witness one person go down without them. I've seen a knee with no skin...

gear will not save you all the time.I had a friend die on one of our rides.Full gear on.He lost control on a tar strip and hit his head on a light pole.It took his head clean of his body.Another friend who races also died wearing full gear.Same thing lost control because of the road and hit his head on a light pole aswell.The impact still killed him even tho he was wearing an expensive helmet.

At least for skating... One thing protective gear does for you is allows you to concentrate on your surroundings. You know you are not going to get hurt if you fall, so you can concentrate on the important things, like trying to avoid getting run over by a car. Grieves me to see skaters without even a helmet.

People say they can take the pain of bad roadrash... After seeing my buddies roadrash (who was hit by a lady doing 100+ mph from behind) no one would take that pain. 2 riding jackets shredded, 2 pairs of leather bottoms... shredded, $1,200 CF helmet, cracked in half, and half an asscheek gone, both legs basically skinless from rash. You wouldn't take that. Don't take a chance.
this past year i was riding my CBR 600 and no i wasnt going that fast i was at about 40 MPH i was wearing no helmet or gloves i had my jacket on because it was a little cool at night and i had a idiot cut in front of me and hit the brakes hard i layed down the bike and i didnt get road rash the only thing that happened is i smashed my knee between the bike and the ground i didnt hit my head on the pavement, when all was said and done i was able to get back on the bike and go your pics are fake

I recently twelved my 07' R6 while riding a 2nd gear wheelie wearing a cut-off t-shirt riding home after work...... @Jasonbjamin That picture is fake. But that does happen it's called "De-gloving" where all the skin off your hands is burnt, ripped, or scraped off down to the bone. If you really want to, search pictures on google, it's pretty gruesome :/ Usually happens with bikers that don't wear any leathers and crash and slide on the pavement.

I've had two sliders since I started riding in 2006. Once on the track and also once on a open road in PA. I mainly stick to the track but both times the leather saved me for sure. Both crashes were about 80-90mph without a scratch, just bruising on my hip. Make sure your gloves have pinky protection too! Riding without full leathers won't happen for me. Pants are just as important as a jacket, all it takes is for you to witness one person go down without them. I've seen a knee with no skin...

It's dumb to ride without gear. If you honestly think you can never get in an accident, then you don't ride enough to know what you're talking about.
I hate seeing people without helmets wearing shorts and a t shirt. Not because I hate them. I don't. But it scares me seeing them like that. I've had to many friends lay their bikes down. Unfortunately, it almost always seems to be the guys not wearing gear too :/

gear will not save you all the time.I had a friend die on one of our rides.Full gear on.He lost control on a tar strip and hit his head on a light pole.It took his head clean of his body.Another friend who races also died wearing full gear.Same thing lost control because of the road and hit his head on a light pole aswell.The impact still killed him even tho he was wearing an expensive helmet.

At least for skating... One thing protective gear does for you is allows you to concentrate on your surroundings. You know you are not going to get hurt if you fall, so you can concentrate on the important things, like trying to avoid getting run over by a car. Grieves me to see skaters without even a helmet.

@soul111smasher i agree i did get lucky and yes it did happen and if i hadnt had the jacket on i would have gotten dome road rash but what i am getting at is you dont have to be wearing a bunch of protective gear to walk away unharmed if you ride responsibly then you shouldnt have to worry about it and the gear yes it normally helps but i know more than one person that have ridden there whole life and have gotten hurt worse wearing gear then when they have only been wearing a jacket

People say they can take the pain of bad roadrash... After seeing my buddies roadrash (who was hit by a lady doing 100+ mph from behind) no one would take that pain. 2 riding jackets shredded, 2 pairs of leather bottoms... shredded, $1,200 CF helmet, cracked in half, and half an asscheek gone, both legs basically skinless from rash. You wouldn't take that. Don't take a chance.

this past year i was riding my CBR 600 and no i wasnt going that fast i was at about 40 MPH i was wearing no helmet or gloves i had my jacket on because it was a little cool at night and i had a idiot cut in front of me and hit the brakes hard i layed down the bike and i didnt get road rash the only thing that happened is i smashed my knee between the bike and the ground i didnt hit my head on the pavement, when all was said and done i was able to get back on the bike and go your pics are fake

I recently twelved my 07' R6 while riding a 2nd gear wheelie wearing a cut-off t-shirt riding home after work...... My arms looked just like the guys at 0:28 and I wish I wouldn't have been so stupid as to try and show off for the car full of women....luckily I was wearing double knee carhart jeans and they slid excellent! nothing but a burn on my leg from the pipe. Needless to say, anything can happen out there, so always wear your gear no matter what! AGATT (all gear all the time)
