  • Dat glass.

  • I really like, wait like? No not like, I mean love the blue color on all your stained glass instruments. @chrisx8x23x95 You got the right letters it the word, but they're used way to much.

  • with a hammer

  • I used to play gongs like this, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @LastBreath343 ... LOL ...

  • I love the part where you hit the stained glass gong that you made.

  • smashing

  • now hit it harder.

  • i really like that sound it makes. is it hard to make one of these?

    CRASH

    broken...

  • I'd hit that.

  • @DesmonJones id ttap it not hit it >=)

  • this would be really cool for sound effect stuff

  • sweet

  • LOL :D Omg . I'm going to make one of these , and hit it when ever someone says something stupid .

  • it has a really nice sound

  • It sounds like the one in mass. the communion part...???

  • And the #1 rank of "most useless" instrument goes to!...

  • not necessarily useless.

In Orchestra, we just played a piece that required a Water Gong.

  • but not a glass gong...

  • I bet this could be used to create a cool musical effect though, like something Pink Floyd would have used.

  • Speaking of water gong. If you EVER have to play a water gong part ever again, save yourself the trouble. Bringing a gong on stage is annoying, especially when they don't have wheels. Bringing a tub full of water and causing excessive water damage to the wood floor is bad. Instead, turn a large cymbal upside down on your largest timpani. Roll the cymbal, play with the pedal. Sounds just like a water gong but without the hassle. Just in case you wanted to know.

  • 2 Things:

    1....I wouldn't REALLY consider that a "gong"

and 2...Yeah the cymbal rolling on the largest timpani would give a similar effect, if you're doing a live performance the visual effect is also a big part of what submerging a gong in water is about. I saw a girl perform a piece she wrote with JUST gongs at I&E...it was pretty sweet, but it probably was a hassle to get the tub of water in the performance room!

  • I know this sounds stupid, but what exactly is a water gong? i don't know what it is and there's nothing on youtube about it

  • I wouldn't imagine there would be. It's not its own instrument, but a technique. Not real common in performance. But basically all you do is lower a gong into a deep container of water and it bends the pitch.

  • Check out videos of the Schwantner Percussion Concerto -- the second movement features the water gong very well, and the camera zooms in on the soloist so you can see it very clearly. It's an awesome haunting effect.

  • LMAO!

  • haha

  • Where can I get one of these? I love it!

  • How interesting.

  • Awesome
