Oh hell I had the greatest time of my life in 1997 the girls the trash fight the pot the traffic hot as hell the best time of my lift I miss the younger years but hell I still have fun even in my 40's liven life like a saying goes (Live your life so the preacher doesn't have to lie about it at your funeral)
that was a good concert.... however I had to leave once bush started playing. someone threw a turkey leg at my freaking face from out of nowhere.... hahaha it was kind of funny.
HA! I just found this. I was there ALL DAY!!! Man, it was hot.
Concert was pretty good with lots of acts: Wallflowers, Bush, No Doubt, Counting Crows, etc. Bush played last.
To Cowboylikeme, YES, I very vividly remember the trash fight. I also remember another war with the yellow tops to those lemon freeze things. I looked like a crazy movie scene. Awesome!!
I was just telling my son about this day. Had to go thru thigh deep trash to get out, how the ppl who got hit with the water bottles from the bleachers looked like they had been shot. And yes, still the best concert i had ever been to...
hell yea, that big trash fight started right after no doubt... it was like on minute im chillin, and the next its raining water bottles, watermellons, ice, an all other kinds of crazy shit
Just had an idea to search for videos from this concert, was happy to see some. This was such an awesome day of music that i will always remember. I tried to fight my way through the crowd to get close to the stage for NoDobut but wasnt able, but managed to get within probably 50 yards of the stage when Bush played. It was crazy to look behind you and see nothing but people as far as you could see.
I had no idea that video clips from Rockfest 97 existed! ahhh... "camping" in the car the night before in the parking lot... brought my young kids... we sat way in the outfield... my son's favorite memory is when a trash war rained down on the field and a corn cob pelted us... a miracle no disasters happened that day with the heat, inadequate water and outdoor porta potties... but we saw a lot of great music acts... no regrets!
How about the traffic to get out of the parking lot? We ended up sleeping in the car. Traffic was fine at 6am. It was the most awesome concert[certainly the biggest] I have ever been to.
I was very low on gas and couldn't wait in that traffic. So, I got off on to the access road and bypassed the traffic. I probably would have run out of gas had it not been for the fact that the access road was open with very few cars. To this day, I have no idea why everyone else didn't do the same thing.
I was front row and had a great time there. It was so hot in the crowd that people were passing out, but they were spraying water on us so I got cold. Gwen rocked! Great performer. Thanks for posting this and bringing back memories.
