man, the music really adds alot sure the movies are good and silent is silent but without the piano it loses something and seems kind of boring. however thank you for posting this and i really enjoyed it.
In terms of dialogue this was silent despite it being '31, but, Charlie commissioned some music, but for me, silent is silent. I even strip the melodramatic cinema style piano accomapniments off silent films, if its good / funny, it will, or should, stand up on its own.
TY for posting my favourite film of all time! From what I understand, Charlie Chaplin wrote the score to City Lights (as well as Modern Times). It was a pantomime but it had a soundtrack.
