  • If I did not understand English as well, IDK if I would of been able to recognize this type of error & injustice.

  • all these crazy diseases and problems are permeating all and other aspects of life. for example like in education in shaping and making programmes suited for learning disabilities, they notate ADHD. I get so frustrated because along the way I try to research each different programme validity and curriculum, then to find out that their or deeper fallacies within so much of the curriculum derived from a tangent department.

  • Actually Kupfer din't say that ADHD does not exist, instead he said that "the validity of the disorder remains a problem". It is also worth pointing out that this video is 14 years old and that today most mental health professionals accept the existence of ADHD..

  • Dr Voneggut was nervous because because Kupfer asked a complicated question. And in fact he did explained the difficulties in diagnosing ADHD and that is a Diagnosis of exclusion just like fybromyalgia. The uploader simply edited it out and replaced it with clock ticking.

  • Another example of a double standard is their demand for laboratory tests . Whe do not have laboratory experiments to confirm the existence Migraine headaches and fybromyalgia since this cannot be seen by current technology. But this does not mean they do not exist, the same goes for ADHD and other mental disorders. This video is biased.

  • Saying ADHD does not exist because its symptoms are part of many other medical conditions is like saying that psychosis does not exist because hallucinations, delusions, and thought disorder are part of many other physical and mental illnesses. This application of double standards makes me question their true motives.

  • These are experts talking about the existance of ADHD... why don't you ask them if it exists or not, after all, they believe they know.

  • @DanFTF seems like YOU are starting the propaganda! Can you show me ONE research that proves that ADHD exists?

  • They just choose the wrong guy to ask this too,

These guys aren't trained to speak in public, they're trained for one on one discussions,

I wouldn't be able to explain how to beat Frickin Mario in Public because I'm not train to speak in public

  • Have you ever tried to concentrate on something, but you Just can't?

    No

Because you weren't born with that Mental Disorder

    I was, And I KNOW it's real,

Lack of Focus LIKE A BITCH=

  • I have, but it's not a mental illness. I just get distracted by stuff, and I finally figured out a way to avoid it.

  • Well, bigot or not, your comments are not related to the subject, so goodbye.

  • BLOCKING COMMENTS?

  • Comments regarding the issues of mental health,no.

    Insults and bigoted comments, yes.

  • I have come to the conclusion that you are truly the dumb one.

  • xemutv you are dumb.. youre making conclusions without proper objective research..

  • I have done plenty of research on adhd the illness that was invented in the eighties.

  • Well go back to research because they only changed the name of the disorder as the knowledge about it developed. The first documented example is in 1902 by Dr. Still. He called this disorder

"Defect of Moral Control" and he believed that the diagnosed individual

had a medical disorder beyond their control.

    In

  • After this event, the next documentation of similar symptoms was in

1922. The next event in the history of ADHD was in 1937, where Dr. Charles

Bradley introduced the use of stimulants in children who were

hyperactive. In the early 1960s, the disorder was called

"Minimal Brain Dysfunction". At the end of the decade, though,

the name of the disorder was changed to "Hyperkinetic Disorder of

Childhood."In 1980, the disorder was given its current name of Attention Deficit

    Disorder.....

  • What are the long term benefits of Ritalin?

All it does is drug the child.

Many adults who were put on this drug say that it made them confident and calm yet stupid.

Why cant a child be hyperactive?Maybe it is their personality.

    Too much sugar

    Not enough sleep

    A gifted child

adhd only existed when humans decided to create a name for the unruly child.

  • WTF When did I say I approved of ritalin use among kids?? :S

ADHD is not about hyperactivity alone or 'unruly' children!!! ADHD is about prefontal cortex and it's relation to executive functioning!! It's not something a psychologist made up but it is based on neurological findings!

What the hell kind of objective research do you do man??

  • i have ADHD

so dont say itsn ot real you damn fuck offs.

  • @iamnuff1992 hey! you're my psychiatrist! How are ya?:D

  • Women who smoke (dp) have more ADHD kids. Another reason to get rid of it. You might notice if you have never smoked and have a cigarette that your concentration goes up for 30 min.

  • you show 'em CCHRLondon ;)

xelin you will not win this fight.

stop being afk from msn plz. thx

  • he totally skated over what i put in my response "Many psychiatrists would be able to provide you with alot of the different symptoms of ADHD, state some of the causes of the illness and provide evidence such as case studies to back up their beliefs

i will however take back what i said about it being "false" and change it to i feel that this video is not repressentative nor does it give fair unbiased portrayal to to the arguments from both sides. "

  • You saying "these are a panel of experts" does not make me believe it anymore. for one clearly they are not as your video outlines. for another you are biased towards being agaisnt psychiatry and may very well say that even if it were not true in order to justify your claims.

  • and also alot of what the man says is silence and edited out while we hear a ticking noise so if the answers were given the video ignores them and meerly attempts to emphasise his alleged lack of knowedge with the immature inclusion of a clock.

  • i believe this video to be false and used to manipulate and unfairly portray psychiatry as being detrimental to society

  • Are you a psychiatrist?

  • No and you do yourself a disservice by responding in this way. instead of assuming anyone who disagrees with your beliefs is a "psychiatrist". realise that you would present yourself far better to actually respond intelligently and with respect

  • It was a simple question without any generalised assumption. You gave no basis for your disbelief. This is not just about a video, which happens to be footage of an actual event, but about the treatment doled out to innocent people by many psychiatrists. I listen to these scenarios on a daily basis. So before you make unfounded accusations about the falsity of the video do the research and then come back with a more intelligent statement to support your opinions.

  • i made such claims because i firstly think it is manipulative to put things such as the clock to emphasise. if it is so obvious that these psychiatrists do not have real evidence or understanding of what they talk about then such inclusion is just unneccersary and borders on immature and unfair.

  • Many psychiatrists would be able to provide you with alot of the different symptoms of ADHD, state some of the causes of the illness and provide evidence such as case studies to back up their beliefs

i will however take back what i said about it being "false" and change it to i feel that this video is not repressentative nor does it give fair unbiased portrayal to to the arguments from both sides.

  • There are many Psychiatrists who would be able to provide accurate symptoms of ADHD and provide verified evidence for the causes and effects of the illness

i will however take back what i said about it being "false" and change it to i feel that this video is not repressentative nor does it give fair unbiased portrayal to to the arguments from both sides

  • These were a panel of "experts" This was a psychiatrist who treated these children on a daily basis. Why couldn't HE explain ADHD? Should he be diagnosing something that he cannot articulate. He is supposed to be professional. There are many others like him. If you want an example watch the 2 minute video on the "Prozac Suicide"

  • Becuase there no set peramaters for a diagnosis of mental illness. Alot of variables are factored in even then it is difficult. its not like saying "the patient has symptom X and Y and test results confirm he has this".

  • Then you missed the point. Despite the length of time that it took to stutter and stammer over the question, and despite the findings of the speaker, children as young as two are being falsely diagnosed with ADHD and given class 2 drugs as treatment with often fatal results. How unfair is that?

  • if the medical profession always diagnosed and treated people correctly 100% of the time then it would be a miricle. to take what you have said about children to use in order to shock people is manipulative and "children as young as two are being falsely" gives no indication as to how frequent this is.

  • You may call it manipulative but it happens to be the truth. Case in point - Prozac can no longer be prescribe to under 18s because of its effects. And there are government statistics to show the frequency of these occurrances.

  • CCHL there is a huge difference between some drugs that are prescribed by psychiatrists as having damaging effects. to claiming psychiatrists have no knowledge of their subject, that every drug and every thing they do to help their patients is dangerous. this is a logical jump and you should not make it. I agree with you some drugs used in psychiatry are dangerous but that does not make psychiatry itself dangerous or mean psychiatry does not help people ever.

  • Psychiatry helps people numb their emotions when prescribing drugs and that the extent of their help. They freely admit that they do not know what causes mental illness or how to cure it. The admit that there are no clinical or physiological tests that prove one mental illness from another or that it exists at all.

  • CCHRLondon don't worry 'bout xelin, he just tries to play the devil's advocate all the time...

every piece of evidence you will put forward; he will completely disregard.

    xelin stop wasting time..teach me some 600nl skillz..lolz O_o

  • so how would you respond to countless people across the world who would claim psychiatry and the drugs prescribed have helped them control conditions and enable them to live happier lives and there are many who would claim so. and yet a large of the people opposed to psychaitry have no personal experience of its effects. would it not be prudent to accept and believe people when they say psychiatry has helped them immensly?

  • I agree. My friend started on prozac after a suicide attempt and it has had a dramatic effect on her life. One time she ran out and was severely depressed. Psychiatry is a science unto itself, although separate from all others it is still science.

  • there is countless diseases in all areas of medicine that we do no know the cause of and especially how to cure. Just becuase symptomps cant be put under a micrope and biopsied doesnt mean that the condition is not valid. Psychiatry is not a fraud, the practice and method diagnosing leves much more room for doctors to be corrupt and oppurtunistic.

  • i do not mean to sound callous that this is effecting children in any way is deeply upsetting but to think that the medical community should always diagnose people correctly and are not capable of mistakes is unfair and naive

  • Yes, but what about basing diagnoses on something scientific and can be tested and not just opinion. The medical profession do this routinely. If a person has a problem with a body organ this is evidence based and a often a uniform treatment will cure it - where possible. Psychiatry does not operate that way - its unscientific.

  • because the mind cannot be studied in this manner. it is not just opinion it is based on experience and evidence of treatment of patients. but and i hope you forgive me if i am presuming things here. at least psychiatry presents all of its findings and research to the world and it can be assessed. the only people i know who believe the mind can be studied in the scinetific manner you describe do not extend the same courtesy to the wider world.

  • Yes, but their findings and research are not based on success or having cured anyone.

  • Umm... Educate yourself. But like anyone mental health professional... thanks for your opinion :-)

  • Corruption the idea you view me as a professional i actually view as a compliment. i am an 18 yeears old and certainly not a mental health professional. i can however distinguish propoganda and missrepresentation when i see it. this video and many others i have seen that are of a similar nature are a clear example of this.

  • anyone=any sry... wow quite the ego... Now we all know you work in the industry LOL... thank you Agent Provocateur... NEXT

  • no i really dont your just very ignorant and presuming

  • and no i am not a psychiatrist i just disagree with you. if you would be willing to talk about the matter i would love to discuss it with you and why i believe so as well as hear your opinions

  • All I have to say to prove my point below is that children that are younger than teenagers do not think about suicide. I can't tell you how many suicides of young children there have been while prescribing these powerful poisons. What the FDA has yet to do is label these poisons as a suicide risk for all ages. So what if they expanded it to say "young adults." Love your children, not drug them.

  • Professionals label others, make them believe something is wrong with them, prescribe some poison, and keep them on it for a long time. Every professional who has ever prescribed mind drugs needs severe punishment, including the common psychiatrist or family doctor. There have been way too many suicides, and I'm sorry, but we need to place the blame where it belongs. It would be about time.

  • It is obvious that these pompous psychiatrists, even when given the opportunity to define ADHD, know that they are perpetrating a fantastic and evil hoax on the public. These "professionals" should be thrown behind bars for drugging normal children with powerful, mind destroying drugs for profit!!!

  • Sure - some kids can have tantrums, screaming fits etc and can make life difficult for the family and for the teacher. No one is disputing that. But it doesn't mean they have a *disease* - that's the big hoax, made up to sell prescription drugs, that we've all fallen for. But not for much longer thanks to CCHR and other anti-psychiatry campaigners.
