Oh for goodness sake! Its no wonder they had to take 4 trains out of service if people were holding the doors open like that!! Disgraceful behaviour to be honest. Disgusting!
How mature, a huge group of people under the influence just to "Celebrate" some sort of bizare sense of rebelion. Standing near an electric line while drunk = stupid.
I am a solicitor for someone arrested during this incident. I would be really grateful if anyone who witnessed any arrests could call me. My number is: 0208 880 8500. Many thanks, Noam Almaz, TV Edwards solicitors.
I feel sorry for majority of revelers because they were born in the nightmare era of the major, Hague era they dreamers they started the ball with anti smacking and its adlegedy cruel to keep children from for so long away from home when at school for detention they acaused schoools at the reduce detention or bring in possible or forms of disapline like fining punnishment I laughted at it them I knew that era of kids fr those time's would rebel such changes. they are a load of pigs -the government shudnt worry about the teens drinking its the adults that need locking up,you shud all be named shamed and lose a weeks pay to contribute to all the carnage.
What a bunch of wankers!!! I was with some French and Brazilian people there on Saturday night and they were asking: 'What's the fun of drinking on the Underground?
SCUM TWATS. Do people in the UK not know how to have a good time without getting absolutely trashed? It is an embarrassment. Drink, drink, drink. Immature bastards go home to your kids and families, use you're fucking heads. All that money spent on cleaning puke and piss.
...the Government should have thought about their liberalisation policies and lack of drink controls in the first place and this country has been drinking too much for hundreds of years...nothing new there, at least more fun than Hogarth's Gin Alley!
This has nothing to do with democratic protest. We knew Boris's policies and he was voted in. And liberal democracy does not mean doing whatever we want, that is more like anarchy. The state suffers from drunkeness because so many people are so damn irresonsible. Someones got to pay for the police, to repair the vandalism, the hospitals, people to clean up vomit and piss etc. Unfortunatelly we need these laws because many people clearly are too thick and immature to be responsible
I do not condone the violence or the vandalism. I went to Victoria where the mood was excellent and the Police and Tube staff were joining in with the fun. Policemen were swapping their helmets with boris wigs and having their photo taken. Had this non enforceable by-law not been introduced, then last nights problems would have never happened. I'm glad I'm not a ticket collector at Upton park on a match day. Their lives are going to be hell.
You stated that "Then [us] decent people . . . " So I can't understand why you feel flattered when someone else has a go at you.
So we see pictures of overcrowded platforms, closed stations due to overcrowding and people wedging the doors open which in turn stops the trains from starting. Don't we see this every morning on the way to work?
The problem on the tube is not people drinking, but people who are already drunk. How many drinks could you get throuh on a tube journey?
well I agree that the ban isnt enough. They need even more measures to curb drunkeness. Its just a small step at addressing the problem, but a neccesary one none the less
Four train drivers and three other LU staff assaulted, according to the Independent. Congratulations for giving Johnson the ammunition he needs to say this stupid law is necessary. You're an inspiration to us all.
stupid nobs. If u need to drink to excess and behave like wild animals then do it in a pub or club away from people who dont want to be around it. I wish Boris Johnson wouldnt just ban drinking on the underground, but EVERYWHERE. Then us decent people wouldnt need to feel threatened every time we need to walk from A to B on a friday or Saturday night.
No I sound like someone who speaks sence. And I wasnt neccesarily referring neccesarily to myself, I said "decent people," I feel flattered you have nicely put me in this catagory.

A great day for democratic protest - right up there with Paris, May '68 or the Anti-War march Feb 2003.
Well done everybody!
