Wrong! World 36 is the Minus World. Its real name everywhere is World 36. It is nicknamed the Minus World in America. Obviously, they aren't two seperate places. Both of them are the same place.

@Akbaboy Yeah. And it's actually pretty simple to explain why "World 36-1" is displayed as "World -1".

There are no graphics to display "36". Sure you can have a "3" or a "6", but not a "3" and a "6", because there's no room. It'd be either "361" or "6-1" or something like that. If there was, the "36" would have to be squashed to the same width as a single digit and that'd look weird. So basically it should be read, not as World -1 but as World [36]-1 where the '[36]' is a blank space.

Yeah dude, the minus world has 4 levels, If you take the Rom of Super Mario Bros and edit it using a SMB editor you can put a flag pole in the Minous world level 1, doing this it allows access to the minus world level two and three, but when you beat level three it brings you to -4 which is just a black screen.

Well, to be honest, the creator of the hack SHOULD have changed the name, due to there being a REAL Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. For the GBC, made in 1999, came with a challenge mode, featuring the possibility of finding a Yoshi Egg, and 5 red coins. Bonus points. Either way, my mom (And yes, she was a game junky, like ME! >_>) plays it all the time now. So I remember quite a bit.

Actually, world 36-1 IS the minus world in SMB1. It just comes up as world -1. SMB1 has 256 worlds.
