Simple drag racing math will tell you that it takes ~ 30hp to overcome a 100lb gain in wieght since the e55 is not only 140hp less but is 200lbs more which means that if tge same driver drove both cars the e55 would actually have to be well over 660hp to pull away from the Shelby like that.

If you had the same driver in Both cars the car with less Horse Power (Aka less potential energy output) will not out perform any car with equal weight and greater potential energy. The driver in the Shelby clearly didn't know how to drive a live axle or shift a manual clutch. probably since Euro cars have moved away to paddles.

Once again. Why is the driver not powershifting????? This is a straight line race for crying out loud. There is no need to take your foot off the accelerator to take a shift in a straight line. Just tap the clutch in and shift at the same time.

Watching the videos from inside of the other cars you can hear how fast they are shifting, the mustang is losing an easy 2-3 seconds of acceleration time due to the drivers' poor shifting technique. I love Shelby's, but sometimes I feel like their drivetrains arent very efficient and are seriously holding back a lot of the power from the crank to the wheels. Whether stock or modded, they always seem to perform as if they were overrated by about 100hp. This GT500 had almost 150 more top end hp and still couldnt pull ahead of the big E55.
I am amazed at how hateful the Ford camp. These cars actually have a lot in common...their weight is almost identical. 3900 for the GT and 4000 for the E55. The engines are even similar...both 5.4lr supercharged V8s. The race is very close, but I think the big difference is the aerodynamics and is why the E55 pulls away at higher speed. The cd of the E55 is .27 and one of the lowest of any sedan and allows it slice through the air much more efficiently at higher speeds. Yes, I have an E55.
just think this E55 has been out since 03, and has been spanking M5's, Zo6's, DB9's, Ferrari's, Vipers, CTS-V's for 7 years. The funny thing is the E55 weighs about 500 more pounds more and is a 4 door luxury sedan. Comparing these two cars is just stupid. A four door luxury Sedan Handbuilt with forged internals is on another playing field.

Just to set it into perspective, the Mercedes has 4 sones climatronic, heated seats in front and rear, has an automatic gearbox 5 speed, and is almost 1900 kilos.

Let's not mix things up. Flywheel horsepower (HP) is not the same as wheel horse power (WHP). You see this GT500 makes 600 hp at the FLYWHEEL but obviously less to the rear wheels (sth like ~520 whp like you stated). In the same way the E55 makes 476 hp to the FLYWHEEL. To the wheels it makes maybe ~430 hp..
The GT500 lost for several reasons. Weight, aerodynamics, gearing, throttle response, powertrain losses, lack of grip etc...
lol this car isn't making 600 BHP, a CAI and tune doesn't increase BHP by 100. 520 is a gross over exaggeration to point out that you cannot raise a cars power that much unless it just isn't tuned.
The bottom line here is that the so called 600 hp GT500 here is more powerful than the Merc and all the other cars it raced. Whether it has that 600 or 520 hp or whatever. And that's a fact.
That's the point though, it's BARELY more powerful than the merc, and there's no way of knowing how stock the E55's ECU is anyway, You realize they too can be tuned right? To make more power?

I love Shelby's, but sometimes I feel like their drivetrains arent very efficient and are seriously holding back a lot of the power from the crank to the wheels. Whether stock or modded, they always seem to perform as if they were overrated by about 100hp. This GT500 had almost 150 more top end hp and still couldnt pull ahead of the big E55.

I am amazed at how hateful the Ford camp. These cars actually have a lot in common...their weight is almost identical. 3900 for the GT and 4000 for the E55. The engines are even similar...both 5.4lr supercharged V8s. The race is very close, but I think the big difference is the aerodynamics and is why the E55 pulls away at higher speed. The cd of the E55 is .27 and one of the lowest of any sedan and allows it slice through the air much more efficiently at higher speeds. Yes, I have an E55.

just think this E55 has been out since 03, and has been spanking M5's, Zo6's, DB9's, Ferrari's, Vipers, CTS-V's for 7 years. The funny thing is the E55 weighs about 500 more pounds more and is a 4 door luxury sedan. Comparing these two cars is just stupid. A four door luxury Sedan Handbuilt with forged internals is on another playing field.

Im referring to the acceleration points of the Shelby alone.THIS particular Shelby is IN NO WAY accellerating like a tuned Shelby , and actually looks slower than a stock one. Ive ridden in plenty of MB, and YES, they are nice cars. Again, my point is, the AMG E55 is a $100k plus car new. All of these Euro cars are over $100k.
Saying the Shelby is "cheap" is relative; I just get tired of people justifying the high prices of these cars with quality. If you double the money put into the mustang, you wouldn't be able to keep it affordable.
And FWIW, my wife owns a 2007 GT500 vert. I paid $36k for the car with 15k miles on it,
This GT500 had an intake and SCT tune. Who knows what the Merc had done to it.

So? Real cars cost. Not like that leafspring, bolt on frame truck powered donutwagon. It's cheap, runs quite well straight ahead, and shit's it's pants whenever a TURN comes up. The mustang is lighter, has a manual 6 speed transmission, and has more horses, but still, it couldnt take "hans", so be quiet. The Mercedes is better than the mustang, or what you call that abomination of cheap parts.

Well, you seem like an idiot, so i'll explain: The mustang, has suspensions from an old pickup, and an engine from one (f150 lightning), and the mustang has a bolt on frame, like Europeans made for 100 years ago. So, in terms of perfomance, the only thing that makes the mustang go, is that truck engine. But the rest is junk, full of cheap plastic, rubbish transmission, and it has the aerodynamics of a barn-door.

The Mercedes is a really good car, the mustang is just piece of shit, looks like a mondeo inside, and is made of 90% plastic inside. And it has still stiff axle, and has not self bearing chassis. The solid axle is there for drag racing...stock GT500's have a forged crank/rods/pistons and will handle up to 800hp without modifying the stock block...

Im speechless. I've seen vid after vid this 600 HP Mustang get raped by less powerful European cars: Gallardo SE, tuned M5 and now this Merc. American Muscle got torn to shreds by a 4-door family saloon with 124 hp less power. Way to go Ford!

Also this GT500 isn't "600HP" not with just a CAI and tune, they only make ~520 whp with that.
Compared to tuned E55's and M5's they're close to the same power, the GT500 is just heavier.

Let's not mix things up. Flywheel horsepower (HP) is not the same as wheel horse power (WHP). You see this GT500 makes 600 hp at the FLYWHEEL but obviously less to the rear wheels (sth like ~520 whp like you stated). In the same way the E55 makes 476 hp to the FLYWHEEL. To the wheels it makes maybe ~430 hp..
The GT500 lost for several reasons. Weight, aerodynamics, gearing, throttle response, powertrain losses, lack of grip etc...

lol this car isn't making 600 BHP, a CAI and tune doesn't increase BHP by 100. 520 is a gross over exaggeration to point out that you cannot raise a cars power that much unless it just isn't tuned.

The bottom line here is that the so called 600 hp GT500 here is more powerful than the Merc and all the other cars it raced. Whether it has that 600 or 520 hp or whatever. And that's a fact.
