He's got to bulk up a bit for the nba, but the potential is there. At the 20th pick, this guy is the definition of low risk/ high reward. Hopefully he has the mentality to tap into the potential.
He def has a lots of talent/potential.Great passer/good vision/high bball IQ. His outside shot will help spread the floor, good pick and roll plays.nice touch with both hands near the basket too.
Problem I see is defense/rebounding.quick and athletic for a big guy but not tough enough to match against bigger NBA centers.PFs may still be able to push him around.Def a project but Houston did well IMO prolly role player first couple years, then good stater.we'll c if he develops into more
whats with Dirk comparisons by some and bashing by others? He is only 20? Still young and needs to develop. Gain some experience, weight and get stronger.
whats with Dirk comparisons by some and bashing by others? He is only 20? Still young and needs to develop. Gain some experience, weight and get stronger.
To me he's more of a PF rather than Center, but Rockets (my team) already has Patrick Patterson so I don't know how this is this going to work out....
He definitely has potential, but lets not hype him up too much he still needs a lot of work to do in the paint if he wants to be successful in the NBA. If not, even Nick Collison can shut him down in some games.
@Solitude102 some of these comments are simply laughable!! a more versatile dirk!?! superstar potential, I pray that your right because im a huge rockets fan but very far fetched. Let the dude play a game in the NBA before you compare him to Dirk Nowitski.
@thestaydown Hey, I agree with you. The NBA is a much tougher league compare to this one. These comments are just an initial reaction to these highlights, and his performance in that Italian league.
valanciunas is the biggest stiff i have ever seen. thank god the Cavs didn't draft a guy who can only score wide open layups and will always be skinny
@DoctorJ0023 HAHAHA , u speak that cuz u know his game right , well u know nothing dude can run can jump he lacks post moves but thats easy to learn :>
@biustas it's obvious that you know nothing about basketball if you claim offense is easy to learn. DEFENSE is easy to learn. Scoring is an instinct. Players are born to score. No one develops an offensive game. You already have it and just refine it. Can you name a player who has ever developed offensive skill? Jonas has no scoring instinct.
@DoctorJ0023 u r fuckin kidding me , U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL if Valanciunas had no offensive game he wouldnt score 26 points in last international meeting with 9/10 fg and 10/10 ft , and if u cant develop offence than what are players training for i mean i wuz poor shooter im 6.6 so my game was drive only but i drill at least 2hrs a day mid range and 3pt shooting and now im very good shooter :> offence is easy u just need to work hard thats all
@DoctorJ0023 sorry it wuz 8/8 ft was looking at wrongs stats , motiejunos got cut from national team because coach said he project for future , but Jonas is showing signs of exelence right now (sorry for spelling im Lithuanian )
He needs to improve his strength, rebounding, defense, STRENGTH, positioning to get the rebounds, etc. His offense may seem like a godsend in Europe, but the amount of pressure and down to the bone energy some players will give him when they play defense may shrink his offensive tremendously. Great potential, but at his current level, he will end up being a David Anderson, not even Bargnani. We'll see, Kevin is a great coach and Donatas will improve. Go Rockets!

@XonezIOIzenoX he just said that because kevin mchale was basically sayying the first time the play each other dwight is gonna kill him.. and donatas was saying that they have two different styles of play: Dwight is a power player while donatas is a face up power foward he didnt mean it as a slight to dwight he even cleared it up in a one on one interview...

This kid is a beast!!! I see a bit of the top imported players in the NBA in him. He has a little of Ginobli's passing ability; a little of Dirks range, Pau's footwork and ability to use either hand around the rim. Plus, he's more athletic than people give him credit for and that bounce pass through two defenders to the base-line cutter; Damn! What a thing of beauty. If he's available at the fifth pick and Colangelo doesn't pick him up, he's an idiot. Plain and simple.
if he a chanse to play in nba he will be a starting player look at Jennings he was avereing 7points a game in italy look at motiejunas statistics ? not the same position players but the same league
donatas isn't a bargnani. he's way more talented than bargnani and has a better demeanor towards this game. i saw a recent interview him saying that it's all about the coach and the team. it's all about the motivation with these kids, he acts humble which is a good sign, he's loud, communicative, and loves success, where some arrogance might come out.
bargnani is just a dick, in one interview when questioned about his rebounding, he responded, "it's called basketball, not rebound-ball."
It was a good tip: he's not a perimeter player. He can shoot from down town, but it's not his cup of tea. In other words, his not a la Dirk Nowitzcki.
What amazes me the most - it's his ability to shoot these half rainbows with either hand - left (the main) and right. He also has very good feet work, so he can beat a lot centers of power forwards with the first step.
If he could become at least mediocre defender at NBA level, he has NBA star potential. He has A LOT OF TALENT IN OFFENSE.
@amfiboliskas Nowitzki had toned down his 3-point shooting in the last several years, evolving into a great MID-Range shooter. In fact, he's always had a great mid-range game, and his defense is average at best.
Depending on what team drafts this Motiejunas, he's got the making of a Nowitzki (or Okur) type player. He'll need the 3-point shot (along with his great footwork) to have NBA success. Defensively, he can become average at best, depending on who's his NBA coach.
@amfiboliskas But he lacks passion for the game, and is bad at low post defense. Imagine him defending such players as Tyson Chandler, Shaq, Marc Gasol, Zach Randalph. All in all, he's a nice future prospect, but needs a LOT of work to do in order to become a star.
He doesn't lack passion, he's just way too cocky and sometimes hes just don't give a shit. But I see a lot of passion in his eyes, the guy loves dominate his opponents. Bottom line. A lot of strengths, a lot of weaknesses... Very risky and unpredictable prospect.... I would say 14th -25th pick, but he can be shocker in draft and faul in the top 8...
@UcanUwill I agree about the top 8 but believe me he is so ARROGANT. I used to play with him, he thinks he is a star already. True story, at the national bball camp for the FIBA 2010(where we won 3d place) he was eating alone, and some guys from the team came, and he didn't let them sit near him because they were "not stars". It's just amazing how high his arrogance is !! And i reckon that he will fit nicely in NBA :DDDD
@saugiskis dude, the coach told me. There was a competition between M.Andriuskevicius and D.Motiejunas which one has to stay in the team (12players). Everybody knew motiejunas was better, but after that conflict he got thrown out. And M.Andiuskevicius stayed in the national team. (BTW, m.andriuskevicius played only a few minutes in that championship)
@azujevas BTW im lithuanian and i know everything. And i just cant imagine what are you if the couch can tell you such a things and even talks with you
@saugiskis You know what, you are just stupid, sorry but if you don't know 100% DON'T talk like: "i'm lithuanian and i know everything". I bet you are an amature fan, thinking that you're cool. And again, just STFU if you don't know what happened then. DON'T believe everything that is written on the internet, or broadcasted in news.
@azujevas ,"DON'T believe everything that is written on the internet" and im not belevieng, becouse it wasnt said anywwere about this hilarious situation from your mind, it was only written here, by you, on the internet, so as you said i wont believe it.and understand me one time, i know that motiejunas isnt any star yet and he needs to work hard and so on, but its embarrasing when all "lietuvos rytas" fans and others are criticising him for nothing.he is big prospect and thats why im with him.
We all know his offensive abilities. And he improved a lot, gained a lot of weight. He scares my ass every time, he looks like bully :D He is definitely not gray, in a good way. Tons of potential. But he is the same risk as Perry Jones, maybe even more risky pick. He can end up as superstar or a bust very easily. Jonas V is still better, no doubt. But they are different, Donatas is all about scoring. He just must stop chucking 3s. Hes just a guy who can hit time to time, hes not a shooter.
Mates Bargnani?... Kuo jis panasus i ji?. Nr. 11 Trevizo Benetton. Nebent tuo... Nera klaidingesnio palyginimo... Matiejunas yra natural post score. Ju tik silpnosios puses panasios, gynyba ir kova del kamuoliu ( ir manau jis jau Bargnani aplenke sioje kategorijoje ). Tuo tarpu jo puolimas visiskais nepanasus i Bargani.... Is kur tokius juokingus payginus ismastot? Zach Randolp, Troy Murphy, jau kazkas panasesnio. Tiek pat jis Bargnani kiek S. O'Neal...
as esu mates ne vienas varzybas kai bargnani zaide benetone tai patikek manim jisai grinai jaunasis bargnani ,ne veltui nba skautai irgi lygina su bargnani gal manau skautai geriau zino negu tu nepagalvojei apie tai?
Bargnani Bennetone? 5 metai atgal.
looks talented to me good post moves good release on his shot but he does need to bet lil more stronger in the post

another thing, give me a video of showing where bargnani plays as much in the post as this guy, and i'll give you my fucking car keys.

donatas isn't a bargnani. he's way more talented than bargnani and has a better demeanor towards this game. i saw a recent interview him saying that it's all about the coach and the team. it's all about the motivation with these kids, he acts humble which is a good sign, he's loud, communicative, and loves success, where some arrogance might come out.
bargnani is just a dick, in one interview when questioned about his rebounding, he responded, "it's called basketball, not rebound-ball."

@zygis16 He averages 3 defensive rebounds per 40 min.'s. That's awful.

Do you know the words "sense of humor"? The words of Bargnani were only a joke.

I think the most risky player in the draft. He can be franchise player or bust. but still very talenet.

He has A LOT OF TALENT IN OFFENSE.
amfiboliskas 11 months ago 16
@amfiboliskas Nowitzki had toned down his 3-point shooting in the last several years, evolving into a great MID-Range shooter. In fact, he's always had a great mid-range game, and his defense is average at best.
Depending on what team drafts this Motiejunas, he's got the making of a Nowitzki (or Okur) type player. He'll need the 3-point shot (along with his great footwork) to have NBA success. Defensively, he can become average at best, depending on who's his NBA coach.
Francozilla 10 months ago
@amfiboliskas But he lacks passion for the game, and is bad at low post defense. Imagine him defending such players as Tyson Chandler, Shaq, Marc Gasol, Zach Randalph. All in all, he's a nice future prospect, but needs a LOT of work to do in order to become a star.
azujevas 9 months ago
@azujevas
UcanUwill 9 months ago
@UcanUwill I agree about the top 8 but believe me he is so ARROGANT. I used to play with him, he thinks he is a star already. True story, at the national bball camp for the FIBA 2010(where we won 3d place) he was eating alone, and some guys from the team came, and he didn't let them sit near him because they were "not stars". It's just amazing how high his arrogance is !! And i reckon that he will fit nicely in NBA :DDDD
azujevas 9 months ago
@azujevas where did you hear it from???? :D i think you should go outside a bit, and do not write such a nonsenses about this
saugiskis 9 months ago
@saugiskis dude, the coach told me. There was a competition between M.Andriuskevicius and D.Motiejunas which one has to stay in the team (12players). Everybody knew motiejunas was better, but after that conflict he got thrown out. And M.Andiuskevicius stayed in the national team. (BTW, m.andriuskevicius played only a few minutes in that championship)

@azujevas BTW im lithuanian and i know everything. And i just cant imagine what are you if the couch can tell you such a things and even talks with you
saugiskis 9 months ago
@saugiskis You know what, you are just stupid, sorry but if you don't know 100% DON'T talk like: "i'm lithuanian and i know everything". I bet you are an amature fan, thinking that you're cool. And again, just STFU if you don't know what happened then. DON'T believe everything that is written on the internet, or broadcasted in news.
azujevas 9 months ago
@azujevas ,"DON'T believe everything that is written on the internet" and im not belevieng, becouse it wasnt said anywwere about this hilarious situation from your mind, it was only written here, by you, on the internet, so as you said i wont believe it.and understand me one time, i know that motiejunas isnt any star yet and he needs to work hard and so on, but its embarrasing when all "lietuvos rytas" fans and others are criticising him for nothing.he is big prospect and thats why im with him.
saugiskis 9 months ago
@azujevas Interesting, but that remains to be seen, the NBA can be a very HUMBLING experience. He's up for a rude awakening.

Hes just a guy who can hit time to time, hes not a shooter.

jau ilga laika ieskojiau jo hihlights benetone ir pagaliau kaskas susuko klipa ,motiejunas tikrai panasus stilius i bargnani :)
gyvulis500 11 months ago
@gyvulis500
Mates Bargnani?... Kuo jis panasus i ji?. Nr. 11 Trevizo Benetton. Nebent tuo... Nera klaidingesnio palyginimo... Matiejunas yra natural post score. Ju tik silpnosios puses panasios, gynyba ir kova del kamuoliu ( ir manau jis jau Bargnani aplenke sioje kategorijoje ). Tuo tarpu jo puolimas visiskais nepanasus i Bargani.... Is kur tokius juokingus payginus ismastot? Zach Randolp, Troy Murphy, jau kazkas panasesnio. Tiek pat jis Bargnani kiek S. O'Neal...

as esu mates ne vienas varzybas kai bargnani zaide benetone tai patikek manim jisai grinai jaunasis bargnani ,ne veltui nba skautai irgi lygina su bargnani gal manau skautai geriau zino negu tu nepagalvojei apie tai?
gyvulis500 11 months ago
Bargnani Bennetone? 5 metai atgal.
