The CSA were unequiped to have a perfect infrastructure. It only waged war just becuase they wanted to keep slavery without even thinking about the consequences and the disadvantages of their puny nation and lack of support. I don't think the C.S.A was ever really a nation. Even though France and Britain, at the time, supplied the CSA with war supplies, they never officially recognized CSA as a nation. Also to those who believe that Civil War was over slavery, that is wrong. Sure it was towards the end, but it started over state's rights and a fight to keep the Union together. Lincoln had no intention of ending slavery, he just wanted to CONTAIN slavery in the states and to forbid it in territories.

I do not understand. Why do you claim it is 'the greatest nation to ever exist' when it had such massive flaws such as the lack of technological advancements (reliance on only things such as cotton etc. for income) and the use of African Americans as unpaid workers, and many more

The CSA may have been largly agrarian based but it's about the Idea that no one should ever stand by and let tyranny prevail, as for the slave thing, slavery was dying in the south and less and less slaves were being used due to industrial advacements such as the cotton gen, another thing I'm not sure you knew but only 6% of the southern population were slave owners, 2% of those 6% were freed blacks themselves. The civil war was not over slavery, it was fought over states rights and tariffs.

well it's not the use of slavery that concerns me, I mean even if the use of slavery had been eradicated it is arbitrary, since as you say the south was fairly agrarian, and population wise it was roughly a third of the Union's population, it was as if the union was fighting with one hand behind its back, and if the confederacy had begun to overpower, it would merely bring in use its other hand. Sorry I am not thoroughly convinced, but I see you back it up strongly so lets leave it at that.

Technically the CSA was somewhat ahead of the times in terms of technology. It put the first ironclad warship into combat as well as the first real submarine. The Confederate army was the first to use the whitworth rifle and cannon. If you are talking about RailRoads which is an area where the South lagged behind considerably you have to take the geography into account, the South has a virtual highway system of rivers which negated the need for railroads.
