What are you talkin about MegaBrits? Kennedy found out about the Soviets placing offensive missiles in Cuba from a U2 flight over Cuba. Not because of a spy. The reason we came out of the Cuban Missile Crisis in one piece is because Kennedy cut a deal with the Soviets, which is what we should have done in the first place when FDR was splitting up Europe, Germany and Berlin at Potsdam. We could have saved alot of bloodshed if we had just cut a deal in the first place.

Actually before that you had placed your missiles in Turkey, practically the backyard of the Soviets. This meant you could attack them within minutes. The reason the Bay of Pigs failed is because it was in the wrong location and JFK cancelled the second wave of air strikes. When the CIA had planned it originally, it was in an area where the locals were hostile toward the communist Cuban gov't and would have helped the exiles. The area they originally planned the invasion was also close to a US-controlled island where they could easily refuel and rearm for air strikes. Yet JFK changed the location and fucked it all up. It was his fault it fail.
