Mr. Haneke's responses are very interesting. The "interviewer" could have been editing out and replaced with narration from someone who knows something about film, people and life.

@nohead212 I agree with you. Just saw der Weisse Band and in my opinion, along with Heneke's accolades....this interviewer seems rather inept, arrogant and immature. Even if the language barrier presents some awkwardness, this man deserves to be interviewed by someone with a greater degree of respect and character!

i've seen other interviews and haneke clearly understands english when spoken to him. why he understands it, but doesn't feel comfortable speaking it, i don't know.

Wow, well first off I agree, the interviewer is WAY overboard/rude HOWEVER... jaqmart,NoHead, you do realize that not only AMERICANS speak english right? I've met Australians and Europeans who speak better english than most Americans I've met. Just because he is speaking English doesn't mean he's American.
