When I got mine I was told that I should leave it in for four to six weeks, and then my piercer could change it for me if i wanted that. :)

And by the way, I think you have an infection and that you shouldn't change it when it is that red. :)

Its a pain to unscrew the belly button all the time ...but i found a solution. no more screwing - unscrewing..just a clutch.. its a lot more easier..look for this site.. tummytoys (dot) com...they have a great collection too.

you forgot to tell everyone you need to wash around you piercing and clean the new ring before you put it in

you also have to wash your hands to avoid infection :)

umm i'm pretty sure your piercing was infected. After 6 months it shouldn't be red or oozing. I've had mine 3 months and just changed it because they was no redness or puss.

I don't agree you should take it out after a month to clean it. The more you take it out and put it in the more irritated and red it will be. I know from personal experience. It takes a good year for it to FULLY heal.

It hurt me a bit, but its not agony, its just an uncomftable feeling, and it only last a few seconds. I think its well worth it, just don't look at the needle as its being done ahah.

that's the start of an infection.. you need to spray down the site with something like bactine..also the jewelry and sanitize your hands before handling the jewelry or the site.

People don't realize that there's a lot of bacteria that live on our skin, like staph.. just waiting for an opportunity to wreck havok. The hole of a piercing, even healed. is a marvelous warm area for it to thrive. Just needs moisture. Keep them clean n dry
