  • @SebastianLong Was the gearing stock?

  • XJ's are awesome offroad. lockers and a winch are big improvements to any 4x4. winch should be first then axles for your goals. then you put in the lockers. then armor. great start then build for lift and tires plus gearing and your good to go.

  • Great job by the Cherokee.Great looking Jeep. The CJ at the beginning was pretty nice too.

  • At the time that this video was shot, I had a 1.5 inch lift using add a leaf and spacers. Unfortunately, I just sold my baby , so hopefully whoever bought her treats her well :( Thanks for all of the compliments :)

  • That was one of the most tension building jeep videos out there. Great job at climbing that! i was thinking no way at first, but then the driver and jeep did it anyway.

  • I have always known the worth of a Jeep in unfriendly terrain but what can one say after watching this video...damn impressive~!

  • I did this exact thing in my near stock cherokee with a rear truetrac as well.... I slammed it into a tree....... yea....

  • 31s fit just fine on a stock XJ.

  • @Droiddest 31s will fit fine, if you don't use them off-road! Try flexing a stock XJ with 31s... it won't be pretty! Under flex, you better have 3" of lift for 31s!

  • @kc8ntp I have about 2'' of lift and I'm running narrow 31s. 31x8.5 on Jeep Liberty wheels. No problem flexing. There's NO way I could run a 31x10.5 on it though.

  • @kc8ntp I flex mine just fine offroad about every weekend. :)

  • cool.

  • when i see almost stock jeep and this trail i exspect to see redneck carnage

  • ok ok its not that fully locking an xj is hard or costly its that lockers arnt a crawling mod its they mod to crawl if you fully locked in anything trail wise you are not almost stock

  • my bad i thought it was just another moron vid that diddnt know what there jeep was till 42 seconds i should of watched the whole thing b 4 commenting

  • almost my ass lol good vid though

  • can anyone help I have a 90 xj with a starting problem. i have spark i have also replaced the fuel pump never had a problem till i done that now my fuel pump is getting hardly an juice to put fuel up to my fuel rail. ive checked everything that i know of. is there anything else i can do?

  • @xjjeepcherokee Its been awhile now, but check your battery.

  • Wow that machine is quite capable. Fabulous car. Go anywhere do anything at anytime. I'm getting one.

  • Not just any female T, a Coonass female!

  • GAVIN, DON'T PICK UP ANOTHER ROCK!

  • bad ass stock or not. jeeps are amazing. not lift either niceeeeee

  • Them be the happiest hill billies I've seen in a long time hee haw!

  • disconnect your front sway bar .... only takes a few minutes on the cherokees and it makes a big difference .especially with those lockers . nice job.

  • Random Explosion between 7:11 - 7:13

  • Painful to watch my buddy did sumthin like this in his almost stock Tacoma it's a painstaking process, congrats

  • Not a icelandic stock version

  • Not s icelandi

  • what did your jeep today? uhhh....

  • I've never understood the point of a lift. Sure.. jack your truck or jeep up.. but your pumpkin is still the same height off the ground.

  • @Magnuspire when you do a lift you can fit bigger tires in your wheel wells and the bigger the tire the further your diff is off the ground

  • @TheDelozier That I know, but it doesn't really provide a significant bump in height. Most of the guys around here lift a truck so it's 8-9 feet in the air but only run 30" tires. To me it just doesn't seem piratical.

  • @Magnuspire The ones lifted way in the air so far they are beyond practical are known as the mall rompers. It's all for show and chances are they have never even put the truck in 4 wheen drive. lol

  • @Magnuspire so you dont high center yourself.

  • @Magnuspire The point in lift is to fit bigger tires underneath, which increases clearance underneath the diffs. Plus, it gives you more articulation to keep wheels on the ground.

  • what can lockers do for you?

  • best $500 mod I've seen. Most people go straight for the lift!

  • Impressive. My 4Runner would have broke, on that probably.

  • I love how almost all the way thru.. she aint gonna make it.. then suddenly.. Holy crap she made it.. Nice one.. a little money spent properly goes along way.

  • Comment removed

  • hell yea man the xj was the best vehicle jeep made they shouldnt have discontinued it, just given it a facelift like the jeep 2500 that was sold in china

  • Those 31s looked small on that. I wish mine had lockers

  • would have been easier with some lift like my xj has

  • I have an 04 M3 and honestly I want a Cherokee because they're so much fun. When you think of jeep you instantly think of mudding, donuts, and a damn good time

  • Stock my ass...things fully locked! This just proves how capable these things are just with a set of lockers!

I think a little lower tire pressure wouldve helped significantly

  • stock xj power :) i run 30's on a budget boost, rear 8.25 locked. cj who?

  • That was a far cry from stock!

  • OIIIIIIIO :))

  • great spotter and driver.

  • i dont think people realize how steep and aggressive this hill really is. very impressive. this motivates me

  • Jeeps are just incredible all the way. This driver was very skilled I might say, very well performed climbing in this vehicle.

  • damn pretty much stock beside lockers obviously and tires. but 31's thats pretty bad ass sweet vid. that must be a 4.0 i have a 94 5 speed 4 cylinder 4 wheel drive. gotta love jeeps.

  • @jmoney2794 you should pull that 2.5l out, sell it and buy a 4.0, they last FOREVER :)

  • that proves that XJ's are KING of jeeps.... if it can get up that with a women driveing

  • locker, no swaybar, almost stock

  • Wouldn't lower tire pressure help?

  • lockers and a winch is all you need.

  • guy's that's "ALMOST" stock, not complete stock, i mean i see those on the road almost all the time, and my guess is he's comparing it to the one before it, that's "NOT STOCK"

  • bow down before u ! muchacha ! nicely done.

    Keep On Jeeping.

  • almost doesnt count. espaecially wen u have locked diffs.

  • lol cherokee?!

  • Winch + Diff Locks = Deffinitly not almost stock

  • Lift it next time, even a small one makes a big difference, but good job!

  • funn stuff

  • funn stuff

  • the narrator has no ballzz. .......thats why he is not attempting to climb it !!!!

  • i fail to see how a fully locked cherokee is almost stock

  • @h34x4 considering its only lockers...wouldnt that be almost stock?...to me... modified would be lifted with lockers and 33's or bigger....agreed?

  • @SebastianLong It does have a lift (probably about 3.5"), or those 31s would not fit! Stock tires for an XJ are 215/75R15s, so 31s are huge compared to stock. It has lockers, so, yes, it is modified. This Jeep is far from stock! How many XJs have you owned; I have owned 5 of them, so I know them better than any 4X4.

  • @kc8ntp i'm now working on my third jeep cherokee...i started off with a 1987 jeep cherokee with the 4.0 and the dana 44 rear axle...i have pictures of this exact jeep 100% stock with 33's without the flares...and then i owned a 96 Jeep cherokee that started life 100% stock with new stock rear leaves and running 31's...lifted the 96 4 inches and fitted 33's under it...neither of them had lockers...now i'm building a 2000 jeep cherokee with 8 inch skyjacker rock ready, 35's, warn powerplant >

  • @kc8ntp 2 PIAA pro series 80 lights, 2 Warn SDB 210 lights, Dana 44 axles from Dynatrac (front Aussie locker, rear detroit), roof rack from Warrior products with a light cage, a few other goodies that aren't as mentionable as the proceeding...now...you were saying?...would you like a video on me driving my 96 over a couch too?...my 87 is long but gone...unfortainately...but i also have pictures of that as well...i've been in the automotive field for 10 yrs before i moved onto building >

  • @kc8ntp airplane and helicopter parts for Ducommun Aerostructures of New York...so yes...i've seen AND built enough becides my own Cherokees to know how capable they are 100% stock all the way up to a tube frame chassis "Chericon"...so please...do not question someone before you understand dynamics of a ALMOST stock vehicle...btw...what do you drive now...a Honda?

  • @SebastianLong No, I drive a '96 Jeep XJ, with 3.5" of lift, rear LSD, Spartan locker in the front, and 31X10.5s. If it was not also used on the street, then I would do even more mods. Plus, just to let you know, I was a certified mechanic for a long time, but I now hold multiple engineering degrees: electrical, electronics, and mechanical, respectively; and I am now working on a psychology degree, too. So, no, I did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday.

  • @h34x4 i think he meant the one in the background at 0:43. lol just kidding.

  • @h34x4 stock suspension....stock height that is how i see it and maybe stock tires = almost stock

  • @h34x4 about the same way that my CJ with 2" lift, 32" tires, swaybar discos, Weber carb, GES motor, additional spring and fuel skid plates, AGR steering, Flaming River steering shaft, fiberglass body is "almost stock" because I still have open diffs, lol. I've heard people say that.

But, IMO, "almost stock" means as much as "almost pregnant", lol.

  • @h34x4 He's probably talking about the lack of jacked up suspension and big tires. That seems to be the unspoken requirement for rock crawling of any kind.

  • @h34x4 She's probably running a 2" BB and $600 worth of Aussie Lockers front and rear. As far as Jeep mods go, she's damn close to stock. I mean, she still has the plastic end caps on the stock front bumper!

  • @h34x4 You could get the Jeep with a posi in the rear. But, yes, I see what you are saying. However, even a moron can put lockers in a Cherokee in both diffs in under 3-hours. The rear is easy to install a locker on most 4X4s, but the Jeep is also one of the easiest to put one in the front, too. Plus, if there was somebody that knew how to fucking drive, then it would have been much easier to climb that hill!

  • weird how the conversation went from "she aint gonna make it" to "if i had some lockers in mine i'd try it"... just say'n

  • was that an automatic? Seemed like whenever she went into reverse the car wanted to lurch . I havent seen anybody attempt terrain like that without total control of gear selection like a manual.

  • @mtbphinx007

I did stuff like that and worse in my auto cherokee, its alot easier to control with an auto.

  • if a woman can do it, anyone can do it in a jeep ; )

  • That's EXACTLY like my 98 Cherokee Classic -- same color white, 3" rough country suspension lift, 31x10.50 Falken's on Crager Black D wheels, rock-sliders, and the warn trans4mer push bumper with a 8500lb winch. It's a search and rescue/fire unit though so I also have a police-style spotlights on both A-Posts, lights and a siren speaker on the bumper, and antennas + an emergency light bar on the roof (looks like a cop car lol).

  • What did I do with my Jeep Cherokee today? I took her on a lovely stroll through this Georgia mountain trail. She loves long hikes up steep, rocky terrain. Mud bathes and sun bathing on a mountain top. She loves rolling around in dirt. mud and snow. Fun on ice. lol Took her out on this trail next to my house. First drop in to this trail is a little hazardous. You have a drop on each side. 50 degree grade hill. All hard Georgia clay I might add. So it's slick. Then through a creek. It was fun.

  • Even though she was beeing guided I am still proud of her. I will be inheriting my grandmothers Jeep which is exactly the same and intend to be doing the same thing what gear would you guys suggest?

  • chics and jeeps.....awesome! she did an amazing job with a lower cherokee. lockers are a life saver.

  • why didnt they go up on the left more

  • who brought grandma? party foul! I hate it when wemen decide to let you know what they think u best next move should be.

  • what i think is great about this video is that most of the people there know what they are talking about using key words like clearance lockers wheelbase... not GIVER GAS!!!

  • My daughter (07 Stock JK) & I (08 Stock JK Rubi) love showin' the boys what stock jeeps can do. And yea, we tear up stuff too.

  • Jeep.......... Women proof

  • @rudyyy60 aint no such thing

  • @rudyyy60 hahah not true my ex girlfriend flipped hers over because she "thought" she saw a deer and swerved and then swerved again to miss a Utility Pole and it flipped over upside down. nothing with wheels is women proof. They have a weak ability to stay calm in stressful situations., hell she cant even keep her mouth shut and be calm when I'm driving and nothing is even wrong. The only women proofing you can do is sound proofing so you cant hear the female passengers navigational freakouts!

  • It didnt look like the tires were aired down at all. Id bring it down to 12 psi, then run it.

  • I sure as hell hope Gavin didnt pick up another rock

  • They did say it had lockers in it.

  • I would say she did one piece of driving!!!! Kudos to her!!!!! you really dont see the steepness of the hill till you see the road in the background, Good Job!

  • Stock??? Not the front axle anyway, it has some type of locker in it. There is no way both front tires would be slipping equally like this if it was an open carrier. All the same GREAT job on the climb.

  • Wow, congratulations, this is great driving, most guys (me included) would have put the boot into the loud peddle. She took her time and also took good instruction, Go girl.

  • Wow, congratulations, this is great driving, most guys (me included) would have put the boot into the load peddle. She took her time and also took good instruction, Go girl.

  • that girl has balls, men!!!

  • Not a Cherokee but nice all the same...

  • Makes me proud to own an XJ

  • thats a nice bit 'o' driving. well done. sure you can mod the hell out of a truck and go just about anywhere but it takes lots of skill to take a mostly stock truck up that shute.

  • I think if you have a close to stock setup you shouldn't be doing this shit towards the end this dude was screwing up a decent vehicle.

  • Very nice.

  • I have a 99 xj stock with just a nice set of bumpers and some knobby tires, ppl are always supprised how well that thing handles itself. nice job

  • Hey does anyone know if you can fit a bicycle or 2 in the back of an xj? Just was curious, thanks. Cool vid btw.

  • @911SHIZBO with the back seat down yes back seat up only one bmx 20"

  • @MrJeepin420style Oh okay thanks for the reply man. Just wondered, because I have a civic right now , and always wanted a jeep. But I ride Downhill and lots of trails alot, so I kind of want something I can throw the bike in and what ever else I have/need ya know.

  • if it was not for jeep land rover would not be here dumb ass

  • props

  • metanle una eddie bauer pa q vean q sale rapidito, tiene bloueadores atras y adelante

  • landrover all the way jeeps made for school runs and thats it

  • @maverick00754 jeep came before landrover.......

  • well he went around the main obstacle....not saying this isn't crazy but it's not a 100%run.

  • Them jeep cherokee just keep on trucking

  • gun it nigga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MY JEEP DROVE ME TO THE MALL TODAY

  • Gotta love them XJ's.

  • hahahahaaa and a girl with a pink hat no less :P Brilliant just brilliant...

  • ME DIO SUEÑO EL JEEP ;)

  • 20 people drive hummers

  • Well mud tires

  • U gotta luv these thing's!!!

  • lol almost stock my ass. That CJ that went before your is almost as stock as the Cherokee is. Doesn't get much more modded than that. The only thing left to do is throw a bigger lift and wheels on there and you will be on par with any trail rig out there.

  • @themcdvideo So a brushguard, skidplates, and lockers is heavily modded now? i bet that engines still stock even.

  • damn my range rover wheels soooo much better than that shitter

  • @808ESTATE Not much, if any. And you paid 70k for it. This jeep has probably 5 times the offloading capability per dollar.

  • @Bushwacked487 im just kidding im immatating how stupid people our this is sweet man

  • @808ESTATE And you paid $40,000 more for it lol

  • @808ESTATE you rover is much much much more top heavy........ dont follow me.... you wont make it....

  • hah he raped that first one in the assholeee. and omg was that a woman? get fuckign raped dude.

  • hah he raped that first one in the assholeee

  • She's not stupid, and seems to know what she's doing for sure! And that spotter was a very good spotter...

  • oh, and wtf are you thinking putting it in reverse on that hill....you need to put in into neutral ans roll back not stomp the brakes in reverse

  • that is NOT a stock jeep..that has at least a 3-4 inch lift with tires , lockers, sliders, bumpers and a winch LMAO...almost stock???? ya, OK

  • Comment removed

  • @rockhopperz93xeedmax Not the Wrangler douche bag, the Cherokee.

  • That was awesome i can't believe it made it up there, THIS is why i am going to buy a cherokee! Which is better at off roading, cherokee or grand cherokee?

  • love cherokee

  • i love cherokees

  • that spotter has some skills! without him theres no chance of that jeep makin it up. with that said, i gotta get me a set of lockers!

  • i wish my girl could do that >< shed just freak out and stomp on it or flip it lol xD

  • hi guys. i'm looking to buy my first cherokee. i plan on using it as a daily driver and as a means to get to my favorite waterfall/cliff diving/camping spot. I'm getting overwhelmed by all the different things on craigslist. Could a jeep expert please take the time to answer some q's for me that i can't find online? do I want a cherokee or grand cherokee and why? i6 or v8? any trans stuff i need to know? i need RELIABLE, and only have a 3k budget. as of now i'm looking at the 96 grand limited

  • @flyerscup08 if you want reliability go for a Cherokee.

the I6 runs forever and if you get a cherokee make sure you get the high out put I6

for 3k you can get a way better cherokee then a grand cherokee. because for 3k. you could probably find a cherokee with 150k-200k miles with a 3 or 4 inch lift and in pretty good shape. a grand cherokee for 3k is going to have around 150k and pretty much stock. i found my cherokee for 850 bucks and 194k it's a 94 sport has a lift and alot more. very nice

  • @300zxnovaman agreed! I just picked up a 94 cherokee sport for $350, all it needed was a fuel pump and a battery. Runs like a dream and has TONS of torque, can't wait to get it out in the hills

  • @holmd90 i know i love the torque of that motor. it breaks tracktion pretty easy when it shift down into 2nd and hits 4k. at least around corners ha. I was amazed i could buy a jeep that nice for so cheep.

  • @holmd90 I want to get a cherokee, i have to save up some more money first lol, i want a 4x4 that can do this kind of stuff! My grand prix and camaro aren't exactly good off roaders lol :P I hope to have one by spring, i hate to wait that long though!

  • @Declipse16 You will enjoy your cherokee, they are severely fun. but a couple warnings, you have to be very careful going through the mud, because the alternator is basically level with the bottom frame rail and will gulp up a ton of mud, leaving you stranded with a dead battery unless you have put some shielding around it. I would suggest replacing your valve cover gasket as soon as you can, because they tend to leak, and it only costs about $8 for a cork one

  • @holmd90 yeah i heard about the alternator, where can i get shielding for it? And the valve cover gasket for the alternator you're talking about right? I appreciate you telling me about this stuff so i'll be prepared when i get one lol

  • @flyerscup08 I wanted a grand for a long time, but now i want a cherokee because of the aftermarket parts for them, and they look way cooler jacked up and all the cool stuff on them. And they get pretty good gas mileage too, the l6 is great, they have great torque, and are pretty speedy. I love the look of them. I THOUGHT i wanted a grand cherokee, but over months of thinking i realized a cherokee is more for me, and they're awesome!

  • Yeah Definately has front and rear lockers but with not much of a lift kudos for the good job.

  • it says almost stock meaning some stuff has been done to it

  • but obvisosly not the basic stuff for crawling like lift and all that good stuff if you know jeeps you can tell that that is mostly stock@gerby1818

  • @2020bmxrider that you are right lol

  • STOP PICKIN'UP ROCKS!!! Gavin, you little bastard.

  • the things ive done with my completely stock jeep were almost impossible.

  • That Jeep has lockers front and back, NOT STOCK!

  • All i have to say is I hope she doesn't have to go back down that....oh yeah and xjs are the shit

  • somethings going to break.... not going to make it.... NEVER Under estimate a JEEP!!!

  • Good driving. Almost stock? Well... looks like he has some lockers and good tires. Well.. that's IJT. And... in the end, you can see why Discovery has the diff's offset, not in center of the car.

  • love a lady who drives a jeep..

  • i used to have a '94 cherokee, now i have an '01, and this shows 1 reason why

  • @07RedRider400 What do you mean? What is the advantage of the '01 over the '94?

  • @07RedRider400 What do you mean? What is the advantage of the '01 over the '94? I am curious as I just bought a '92 Cherokee Unlimited for my son. I own an '06 Rubicon Unlimited. I'm well versed in newer Rubicons but not older Cherokees.

  • @hemi57 i dont tthink i used the word advantage in my comment. if u look at it the right way, what i was saying was; i like cherokees so much that after having a cherokee for my first vehicle, i wanted another one instead of going out and buying anything else.

  • @hemi57 but the main difference between the new and olds ones is a slighyly updated body style and interior, besides that they are basically the same

  • Nicely outfitted Cherokee. Looks good and not too wild.

  • amazing piece of driving

  • Damnit Gavin, stop picking up the rocks!

    Pay attention to the Jeep!

  • sweet vid 8) nice driving

  • these old XJ cherokees can go ANYWHERE.. i found my old stock 89 XJ with 200k mi was a little better offroad than my buddies 94 wrangler with 31 inch Bfg Trail T/as. The BEST part about buying an old Cherokee is that you can score a decent one for 2 grand. Much less than youl find a wrangler for,,, still love wranglers too

  • @IRONSEAN7

Amen! I just bought a nice, stock '92 Cherokee Unlimited for my son for $2,100. It is loaded with the best Jeep had to offer. Even with 196,000 miles, it runs perfectly, gets over 24 mpg, blows cold A/C, has no leaks and burns no oil. Amazing. My son just spent $1,300 for new wheels, tires, and a 2.5" lift kit. Should be nice when he is done!

  • oh my gosh, stock jeep made it all the way up.... HOLY SHIT! THATS A LADY DRIVING!! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! we need more lady jeep drivers on youtube.

  • I miss my poor white XJ :(
