For people who intend to buy these. Dont trust internet reviews that say these speakers are very good, because they're not. I guess they are good for they price, and if you havent heared any real speakers (like most people who buy these). These speakers are good for gaming. FULL STOP. Nothing else. Watching movies? No mids and high, no bass under 40% of volume even if sub is at 100%, after turning volume to 50%, bass starts, but satelites distort.

I bought these speakers a few days ago and im very disappointed. First i had to spend 2 hours with equalizer to get them sound decent, otherwise sound is HORRIBLE, all you get is boomy bass. Sub is strong, but sound quality coming out of it nothing special. It sounds very boomy. Satellites are awful. They have no mid or high tones until volume is over 50%, and after 60% they distort like hell. THX certified? Is that a joke? Lots of noise and no sound describes these.

most music programs have equialiser inbedded in them, turn it on, lower frequency is for bass, also you can download some program to amplify it even more...

The only thing that sucks about the Z2300 are the satellite speakers. Sorry but I'm not a fan of full range, especially when you hear harmonic feedback from the speaker when you have 40hz and 4000hz coming from a single driver at once.

they arent full range. they have a high-pass crossover at about 150Hz, and the sub has a low-pass at the same freq, to seperate the spectrum. or do you mean that you prefer having a tweeter in the sats? what speakers do you have?

I have the Z2300s, two sets one hooked up to my laptop and the other connectes to my girlfriend's laptop. The satelites aren't filtered from the subwoofer. I know this because when I play a song with a lot of bass and vocals, there is a lot of harmonic distortion from the single driver reproducing 100hz and below as well as 1000hz and above. No full range can effectively play highs and lows at the same time, at least at moderate volumes.

o sry i know alot about audio and i said that because this filtering is on almost every set of pc speakers. and most of those speakers you think they are full range but it's due to the bad crossovers (filtering only 6db/octave, so most of the low frequencies pass anyway). my speakers are full range too (audioengine 2) but i'm usually not having trouble with harmonic distortions when there's alot of bass.

Yeah the crossover slopes on these speakers are very shallow, but they're there. Harmonic distortion is only present at 60% system volume. These speakers sound really good, rich in the bass. But I've hooked it up to my XBOX360 just to see what L4D was like on it, and lots of areas you could hear the vocals and gun shots distort, and I usually keep the bass volume control set to middle.

you have to max out the speakers (poweramp on full), and adjust the volume to your taste with the pre amp (the pc/xbox/ipod volume). it should sound better as power amps are designed to work on full volume, while pre amps arent good at high volume. i do this too and i never hear distortion, except when i turn the soundcard very loud, but speakers always maxed.

I've tried that, maxing the amplifier volume and minimizing the source signal, helps to keep a clean signal since high-volume source signals are usually clipped. It still does it, connected to my laptop because my XBOX360 has no volume control. I love my Z2300 system, awesome as hell! But when I want to turn it up and do something in another area of the house with the music up, it gets annoying with a high bass and treble song.

i've tested these speakers and i wasnt satisfied untill i turned the bass down. in a mid-sized living room bass sounds flat at 9-10 o'clock. i know this sounds strange, but if you're playing with higher bass then you're used listening to overpowering bass. bringing the bass volume down also betters the ou-of-the-room performance, as you want it to be.

Actually I'm used to listening to rock music, not so much bass there. I'll have the bass knob turned all the way down. But sometimes I do like cranking up the bass, it helps give a big emphasis of

"power" to the song. Every so often though I'll listen to a hip hop or rap song, something with lots of loud bass and it's then I'll hear the harmonic distortion in the speaker trying to reproduce too wide of frequencies at once.

subwoofer doesn't really distort, maybe at around bass 100% with volume of 95%. Everyone's z-2300 is quite different, some distort at 75%. however, the trebles distort so easily, at around 75%. I've turned it up to 100% and trust me, you don't wanna do that, it will literally fry the voice coil of the speakers.

there will be slight distortion if you max the volume at 100% you risk damaging the amp that way if you play it for long periods of time at 100 percent volume . but overall if you use it at 75 percent vol there's virtually no distortion
