  • Awsome motor. I think those may be the biggest zoomies I've ever seen

  • The engine is diesel, not propane. The propane tank is for air to start it with and the orange thing to the right is the portable compressor. I saw this engine run many times and knew the owner Monk Ivacek before he died. I can assue you it's diesel.

  • @Layne205 Thank you for the correction and it is noted. I am ashamed I did not take the time to properly inform myself on the matter. Thank you very much.

  • Aproved Euro 7

  • When it firing it sounds like my dads old Massey Ferguson 97. That thing knocked like that when starting, may have had something to do with how much ether was required to start that tractor

  • Love it. Gotta keep these old beauties alive as they are the ancestors of our modern engines.

    Thanks for sharing it here!

  • Didn't want to wake up after it's loooooooooong sleep.

  • BIG SHIT!

  • Awesome anti aircraft gun there.

  • It is surely a thing of great beauty! Thanks for the post.

  • Wow what a smoke, what fuel is used cooking oil.

  • @lexpee It is actually run on propane but, the smoke I believe is oil poured in each cylinder for storage purposes since it mainly runs once a year and takes a few minutes to burn off.

  • @43JohnDeere Aint this a diesel engine ?

  • @TheElectricnoob It was running on propane in this video. I would welcome any Fairbanks Morse authorities to comment on the fuel type used for this engine in its' original application.

  • @43JohnDeere ....they are supposed to be a 2 cycle diesel aren't they?

  • That's a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong cranking

  • Dumn I love that sound

  • My grandfather use to be a captain on a 1925 ex-minesweeper that became a goods carrier. On the blueprints it says 1924 Fairbanks-Morse co. 4 cyl...14 inches.....18 inches.Beside it it says:vertical 2 cycle gas engine and the rest is too blury to read. Could someone give me an idea what was it.I've been told by my father that it was a 4 cyl,F-M HO,120 rpm engine.

  • WOWZERS!!! What kind of fuel does it use?

  • @Landotter1 For the purposes of the demonstration it was run on propane.

  • @43JohnDeere Interesting!!! does it use so much oil or what's the smoke.... Do the pistons have rings or maybe they are worn excessively? I'm just very interested. Such a cool engine!!!

  • @Landotter1 This engine is fired up once a year I imagine for this annual show in Temple Texas. My guess is that it has a fair amount of oil left in the cylinders for preservation purposes when not in use. It also seemed to take quite a bit of effort to start so it would not surprise me if it were a little low on compression. It did destroy the shirt I was wearing from my vantage point due to all of the oil it put up in the air and subsequently rained down on me.

  • @43JohnDeere WOW!!! sorry about the shirt. Still, I bet it is cool to see... Too bad one can't get parts for it and maybe get the compression up a tad.... Thanks for the info. :-D

  • the sound of the other motor in the background needs to go :-( awsome tho!

  • @rroberts383 that was the diesel air comp :( they couldn't kill it yet

  • What did this once power ?

  • best sound in the world

  • that thing is one of the fastest engines from the time i have ever seen also one of the best
