I knew Gabrielle from the late 1990's to 2003. Her sister was murdered in 1995 by a man who actually wasn't a homophobe/transphobe. He was known for dating pre-operative transsexuals for years, but his attorneys had that information suppressed during his trial. We'll never know why he really killed her.
Gabrielle died of a drug overdose in April of 2003. She was always an angry person when I knew her. They were beautiful, and Gabrielle will always be my hero.

For anyone who is curious, Chanel Pickett was strangled to death in 1995 by a potential lover, who was convicted of assault and battery (the most lenient charge they could have given, only like two years in jail MAX). I knew Gabrielle from the late 1990's to 2003. Her sister was murdered in 1995 by a man who actually wasn't a homophobe/transphobe. He was known for dating pre-operative transsexuals for years, but his attorneys had that information suppressed during his trial. We'll never know why he really killed her.
Gabrielle died of a drug overdose in April of 2003. She was always an angry person when I knew her. They were beautiful, and Gabrielle will always be my hero.

There's nothing to say that conflicting interests in that regard isn't a motive for murder in any individual case. So many crimes against transpeople have nothing to do with them being trans, so many in fact that transpeople have more crimes committed against them for reasons other than being trans than other demographics. For anyone who is curious, Chanel Pickett was strangled to death in 1995 by a potential lover, who was convicted of assault and battery (the most lenient charge they could have given, only like two years in jail MAX).
