Even firefighters and police officers stop to pay their respects. Look up "highway of heroes" on Youtube, it's very moving.

youve seen the movie gettysburgh havent you. its a GREAT movie. its like the civil war version of saving private ryan.
the union had superior units and ammo and training but the confederates had a major advantage: morale. they had a real reason to fight. im not siding with them id NEVER side with slavery but the confederates fought for THEIR rights. which makes them real americans. the union fought for EQUAL rights, which also made them real americans as well. america is good no matter what.

killing of civilians is an unfortunate part of war. the usa does not do it on purpose currently while fighting the taliban, but the usa does do it to enemy countries. in the name of freedom and liberty some innocent must die. it is a way of breaking a countries government into surrender. all countries have committed horrible acts. the slaughtering of africans occurred also in europe. but that was the way of thinking back then. the nazis killed jews in a time when we knew it was unacceptable

not bad (music goes well with the material) however you really missed several changes in music that don't match as well with what is seen on screen. Also, some of the scenes last too long and begin to drag. Defiantly showing good promise as an editor.

I think that was Staufenberg, a junior officer. Rommel was sympathetic with the plot to kill Hitler, but he was never really involved.

Amazes me how France, etc mouth of about us now and guys like my grandfather gave them the right to be free again. My grandfathers youngest brother lost his life in France at the Battle of the Buldge for a bunch of winers that could care less. The French should be forced to watch "Saving Private Ryan" at least once a week for the rest of their lives....

Meetman....To an extent I agree but, the French were helping us more to get back at England that anything, it really didnt have alot to do with wanting us to be free. England and France despised each other back then. Yes we owe France to an extent but, like I said for them it had alot to do with revenge....

Dude, i didnt say they were defending their country. I said, they were told, to do so. At least during the eastern campaign. Western campaign wasnt also seen as an aggressive action, more as an revenge for Versailles.

When your whole family will die and you will die if you resist and you are tossed into a boat and forced to take up arms and your commander will shoot you in the head and you're HUNGRY and SCARED and COLD even without the Army coming up to you and throwing you in, will you resist?
Keep in mind that the majority of people thought that the Holocaust wasn't really happening at this time.

@romangeneralbob It's easy for you to say that. See: The Allied Bombing of Dresden. The Allies killed plenty of civilians. There were thousands of men lynched in America because they were black; the lynchers then were, of course, protected by the government of America.
The US has killed millions. Iraq. Vietnam. Philippines. In My Lai, just 1 person was charged- 3 years.

yeah. and lets get some things straightn here. the wermacht was the german regular army. the SS was basically the nazis personal army. they were the ones responsible for horrible attrocities commited. So before you go and say they were rounding up all those people read a little history. It was the gestapo and the SS, not the wermacht, who committed said attrocities.
