  • the lyrics of this awesome song stand true even nowadays. i grew up with this one

  • THIS is expression!! - not to compare with the shallow way, most singers sing today. They don´t understand, it´s not only to go on stage and do a job!!! They should take this awsome ballad for an example... thumbs up - sorry it is not possible to give a thousand.

  • Hot Chocolate, for those of you who are musically illiterate and tone deaf. was a blues-driven rock band. Read their bio.............

  • prelepa stvar, puna emocija

  • prelepa stvar, puna emocija

  • too much bass!!!

  • @QueenReigns1 did you ever listen to the loonng version of the isley bros /that lady/?

  • @tommieparch

I wasn't talking about the other bands..I was talking about Hot Chocolate..they are not..and never were a rock band.

  • @QueenReigns1 your from the U.K. so we have different views... anyway listen to the Isleys & brothers johnson... t.

  • @QueenReigns1 All entitled to their opinion, but OMG, the bass is one of the best parts of this song!, IMO. Quoting someone from over at the Sisters of Mercy cover "That bass sound ... it tears one apart to let the pain out"

  • Great song :)

  • Love it!

  • Love it!

  • Beautifullllll.D:

  • Phantastic song!

btw: Emma is dead, but the silly Holzmichl is still alive ;-) What a shame...

  • MY NAME'S EMMA

  • iddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • best black rock band ever,, then brothers johnson....& the isley bros. ( lotta brothas eh). i consider hendrix a solo artist....,

  • @tommieparch

    Rock band???

    I don't think so..try soul/pop.

  • @QueenReigns1 i know what your sayin, but the 3 bands i mentioned are more rock than soul...soul is marvin gaye & al green,& bill withers...tommy.. also i said best 3 BLACK rock bands ever..so if you wanna ad to it , then maybee a little funk...

  • The song itself is based on the story of a woman, "Emma" but is actually tied to the death of his mother.

  • I named my daughter Emily Jane Cosentino after this song

  • @MsJanezzz o_o Qué no se llama Emeline?

  • Pure music and lyrics that we can't hear anymore nowdays. Sad, yes. But then a star was born finally...

  • odlicna. looove this song.

and yes, i agree-this is music.

  • that might be one of the greatest pieces of art ever created. ever.

  • Das war noch Musik

  • Emma was his mother, sister or wife?

  • @endrizo

  • @Vogelgrippe what? you wrote nothing,.I think she was his wife,is that correct? thanks

  • @endrizo from what i know about hot chocolate...for which this was one of my favorites by this group...this also is a British group....so the best i can remember...this is a true song and that was his wife !!!!

  • @endrizo No, it was relating to his mother

  • @endrizo his woman

  • Das war ja mal ne super mugge damals da war die Weld noch in Ordnung

  • @breaker6015

Aber 100 pro, damals bräute anbaggern bei dem song und anderen, war ne geile Zeit.

  • This song not only carries an awesome yet simple tune, it touches the heart with a true story of a young, unfulfilled life sadly lost...it's as powerful now as when it was first sung, and it always will be. The raw emotion is visible in the singer's face, as well as in his voice. This is the real deal, folks!

  • waar blijft de tijd

  • remember this song much....has so much meaning to me ...still in my heart my love...i'll never let go,each day i think of you, we will b together again...we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time...still in my heart my love, i still think the light was green for us to go....18 wheeler T-Boned us ...cant write rest....luv ya

  • The thing was that in the older and better days the songs usually told a story. Todays songs do not do that and most songs that are recorded today in the studio will never sound like that live because the vocals have been screwed up electronically.

  • An absolute classic. I remember seeing them do this on Top Of The Pops when I was seven and it struck me as something special even then. Years later my friend played guitar for Errol Brown on a UK tour and I got to meet him, one of the most genuine, lovely men you could meet. RESULT!!!!!

  • This song still makes me tear up, especially at the end, when he's just singing her name, like he's crying out for her :'(

  • @LyndaHudson Me too. I know exactly what you mean.

  • so sad yet so wonderful :'(

  • I know everyone's heard this a million time's............They don't make,em like this anymore, the 70S rule ,I tried to be fair about and look at it from every angle.......todays music is lacking something ..badly

  • Awsome, Glad i found this after so many years. Sung with sutch Passion

    Thanks for posting.

  • WUNDERBAR!!!

  • great song

  • Classic emma emily

  • my dad used to sing this song to me when i was young and i hated it - now i love it and everytime i hear it i think of my dad x

  • @EmmaLoux1 Nice name and a wonderfull song, dad did it right to give you that name.

he will always stay in your memory.

  • i'm still wondering about the sound from the guitar..

  • my mum used to sing this to me but replaced the emma lee with emma jean :)

  • emma jackson ........ x

  • ..

  • Wow, Erroll Brown looks so genuinely upset I'm wondering if this is based on a real event he experienced. I'll have to go look it up now!

  • @astrophonix Yes, the song is based on Erroll Brown's mother who died at just 38 years old. You only get a song this powerful when it's based on a real experience.

  • @astrophonix How so very sad. I did not know it was based on a true story. I didn't think it was possible that this song could be any sadder.

  • i was bored so i just typed my name into the search bar

  • I think the drummer played a pimp in an old Starsky and Hutch episode.LOL

  • This song is one of my favorites of all time! This is what I call music too!!! Tks for sharing!!!

  • Although at the time not "Oficially" classified as a "soul" singer this guy has more soul in his voice than a lot of the singer that were classed as soul singers

  • Damn I love it but sum dumb fuck platypusface is ruinin it but thinkin what's in his head, other then that this song kicks ass

  • and you are a fingerer like the guy in the song

  • @platypusboy You've already proved you're thick (not hearing or understanding lyrics) and you made the leap to child abuse ??? Then in a 'witty retort' you accuse someone of having a sexual deviance? Ha ha you sick prick.

  • @garryleerob dunno think you're thick if you believe it possible for a five year old to have the foresight and knowledge to be able to project and international entertainment career for a child of the same age. Seems to me someone was fudging their age, seems to me someone got fingered hey Mick?

  • platypusboy - the Lyrics are -

"..WE were together since WE were five ..."

  • A question about this song: So when she was five years old and he was promising her fame and fortune how old was he? Um it sounds like he was way older. Isn't that kiddy-fiddler territory?

  • @platypusboy

    wanker

  • I love this song.

  • i love it

  • He's singing from the p.o.v. of a man whose love just killed herself. His last screams are soulshredding!

  • One of the most beautiful and saddest songs ever written. Genius.

  • @TheTitanFind This is a beautiful, if a sad song. Mucht to underrated

  • Ask his friends how tall he his.

  • a sentimental favorite of mine-

  • Thumps up if u got here by typing your sisters name! :D

  • i fucking love disco music!!!this is my favourite!

  • It's hard to believe anyone could be so shallow as to kill themselves because they didn't become a star. Now that's what I call vain.

  • I enjoy this song with the Sisters of Mercy as well

  • que cancion con sonidos y voces tan melancolicas son atractivas al oirlas. buenaaaaaa
