At 3:28 he pooped his pants so hard that the cosmos alligned as the sun imploded into an alternate universe where time and existence never was and never will be
Yes Emotion is the word ... this song gives my shivers down my spine and tears in my eyes ... it's the simplicity ... the complexity ... it's like , the closer to the truth you are the more hart wrenching and mind blowing it becomes.
@TheTwtebrd a[[arently it's a fictitious story but Erol has said that he thought about his mother dying to be able to express the deep emotions in the vocals.
Yes this is a band we loved in the 70. Disco was in a running and we danse our heart out.Schoolparties and sweet kisses Look at my favs how fast music can grow.
THIS is expression!! - not to compare with the shallow way, most singers sing today. They don´t understand, it´s not only to go on stage and do a job!!! They should take this awsome ballad for an example... thumbs up - sorry it is not possible to give a thousand.

@QueenReigns1 All entitled to their opinion, but OMG, the bass is one of the best parts of this song!, IMO. Quoting someone from over at the Sisters of Mercy cover "That bass sound ... it tears one apart to let the pain out"
@QueenReigns1 i know what your sayin, but the 3 bands i mentioned are more rock than soul...soul is marvin gaye & al green,& bill withers...tommy.. also i said best 3 BLACK rock bands ever..so if you wanna ad to it , then maybee a little funk...
@endrizo from what i know about hot chocolate...for which this was one of my favorites by this group...this also is a British group....so the best i can remember...this is a true song and that was his wife !!!!
This song not only carries an awesome yet simple tune, it touches the heart with a true story of a young, unfulfilled life sadly lost...it's as powerful now as when it was first sung, and it always will be. The raw emotion is visible in the singer's face, as well as in his voice. This is the real deal, folks!
remember this song much....has so much meaning to me ...still in my heart my love...i'll never let go,each day i think of you, we will b together again...we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time...still in my heart my love, i still think the light was green for us to go....18 wheeler T-Boned us ...cant write rest....luv ya
The thing was that in the older and better days the songs usually told a story. Todays songs do not do that and most songs that are recorded today in the studio will never sound like that live because the vocals have been screwed up electronically.
An absolute classic. I remember seeing them do this on Top Of The Pops when I was seven and it struck me as something special even then. Years later my friend played guitar for Errol Brown on a UK tour and I got to meet him, one of the most genuine, lovely men you could meet. RESULT!!!!!
I know everyone's heard this a million time's............They don't make,em like this anymore, the 70S rule ,I tried to be fair about and look at it from every angle.......todays music is lacking something ..badly
@astrophonix Yes, the song is based on Erroll Brown's mother who died at just 38 years old. You only get a song this powerful when it's based on a real experience.
Although at the time not "Oficially" classified as a "soul" singer this guy has more soul in his voice than a lot of the singer that were classed as soul singers
@platypusboy You've already proved you're thick (not hearing or understanding lyrics) and you made the leap to child abuse ??? Then in a 'witty retort' you accuse someone of having a sexual deviance? Ha ha you sick prick.
@garryleerob dunno think you're thick if you believe it possible for a five year old to have the foresight and knowledge to be able to project and international entertainment career for a child of the same age. Seems to me someone was fudging their age, seems to me someone got fingered hey Mick?
A question about this song: So when she was five years old and he was promising her fame and fortune how old was he? Um it sounds like he was way older. Isn't that kiddy-fiddler territory?
I lived two doors away from errol before the band were famous they used to park there van outside my house in stockwell s w 9, i was very freindly with his father rex.
