  • I agree with the comment about how SSD’s enhances performance quite a bit. It is a simplistic view to say that SSD's only speed up load times. For any running programs, especially games and video intensive programs, there can be a lot of I/O (reads and writes) of data. Since some SSD’s can be over 90x faster than a typical 5400 RPM hard drive, having an SSD can make a big difference in performance. Other benefits: less susceptible to shock, higher heat tolerance, more consistent performance.

    .

  • I see a lot of people here not knowing what they talk about :)

SSDs improve quite a lot computer performance, more that 4gbs of ram, or a "newer" gpu. Please, do your research before you speak.

  • SSD doesn't affect performance, only loading times..

  • @DixieCzech Loading times = Part of performance.

  • @Genixel If you wanna put it that way...i was talking about actual gameplay performance. It wont make your game smoother, thats what i meant.

  • @DixieCzech I'm not sure if games work much similar to video, but if you have a slower hard drive, playback of video can't keep up and the computer ends up dropping frames or lagging.

I wouldn't be surprised if that applies to games.

  • @Genixel Of course there are some games limited by slower HDDs (S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, The Witcher 2 and other "onemonstermap" games.), but most of the games are not affected by HDD performance since there is another, very fast memory in PC - RAM. That's where are today games hungry - times when a super fast HDD was needed for a game to run are gone (sub 1993). Lagging in videos is not due to HDD, but because of a slow CPU or low amount of RAM installed.

  • @DixieCzech Well actually I once got an external USB hard drive for video editing and it Final Cut kept saying that I was dropping frames. I didn't research it beforehand and it turned out I needed a faster hard drive, so I got one with FireWire 800 and I no longer drop frames. It's partly to do with the way that USB works though, not just the speed.

But let's just face it, everything accounts to the performance.

  • its laggy

  • This is the 2012 model with intel core i5 1.6 4 gb of ram and the intel 3000 HD or it have the intel core i7 with 1.8 ghrtz ???

  • Why would you say this runs the same if not better than any custom built PC... It runs terrible what a joke.

  • @tesrules uh you just missed the part were he said it was sarcasm

  • So do you think Age Of Empires 3 would work well on the 2011 model 11' Air?

  • playing on an 11 inch can't be fun at all so why even download it

  • My DS Can Run this

  • @500husain your DS is sucks Sony is the Best

  • I can run this on a 3-4 year old iMac Core Duo 128 vram 1.5 Gb Ram 2 Ghz... This game looks swell but does actually only need a potato even Minecraft needs a good computer o.0

  • LOL SSD doesn't make your computer perform faster, it's the RAM that makes the macbook perform better. SSD just reduce the loading time and multitask, because it can send information to the RAM much faster than HDD.

  • @johnchen0213 Dude, SSD development began with the idea of storing memory in RAM. It's pioneers thought that way and made it that way.

  • @SamiurKhan123 LOL SSD is in northbridge. which is further away from south bridge and the processor. So it will not be as fast as memory.... it's engineered to be shake resistance and lower power consuption with a huge speed increase from HDD 7400rpm.... you should really do some research.

  • @johnchen0213 I got this info from Apple. Not my research :(

  • I could run it on my potato if i put it on low settings.. dipshit.

  • congrats Cod 4....btw flash storage has nothing to do with games....its your graphics smart ass. btw try playing Bf3 at max and see what happens to your air lol

  • fake and gay

  • @NefariousBanana wow fix your name before you call something gay banana are you serious pussy

  • 30 people have a custom built PC.

  • Lol COD, my galaxy s2 will run it lol

    overpriced mac shit.

  • Its amazing how many people took the "better than a custom built PC" line seriously.

  • I would say that the performance your computer has in gaming is heavily dependent on your processor, graphics card, what res. you are running the game at, and RAM (Speed of ram, not so much as to how much RAM you have so as long as you have at least 2 GB). How fast your HDD can access files will only allow the game to load up faster, but as far as the fps, the SDD has no impact on the game play fps.

  • Buy on steam?

  • Better Then A coustom Built Pc Tsss Bullshit

  • which is better to run minecraft this or the 2011 11'' 64gb model?

  • Lol This Would Not be better then A Coustom Built Computer Fag

  • macs are awesome, I play Borderlands on my 2010 macbook pro and it works great even without a SSD, im using a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive and have the 2.4ghz core 2 duo with 4GB of ram, many pc games are now available as download versions from the mac app store and then since they are the entire game and are completely on the hard drive they run very smooth because of not needing to load anything from a disk

  • apple(.)freebiejeebies(.)co(.)uk/625406

    remove brackets

  • The only reason ppl believe macs suck is that they want to play their childish games. Nobody makes games for macs, so you have to bootcamp them...

  • @TheMursk

And the only reason people buy Macs is because they think they edit stuff better and look better. Wow. Calling gamers childish when people buy unnecessary expensive hardware because other people buy it and they haven't had the common sense to find out that PC can run that editing software, and that it probably did originate on PC?

  • how you even play on it? i totally can't play on it. my macbook air is 11inch, 1.6GHz, intel core i5, 2GB memory. I tried to copy into my external hard disk and transfer over to mac but doesn't seems to be working.

  • If i was not a gamer i would sell my POS windows based machine for a MAC any day. Apple FTW. Also if you dont believe that i even own a high powered PC please go to my channel.

  • Ok if you can't afford a new macbook just get a second hand one. i've seen new mint condition macs going for 30% less than RRP.

  • I just bought a macbook air 11,6" with 4 gb ram and i7 :D

  • so what are the specs did u overclock it on windows OS or what cause mine lags wile playing minecraft and its the 11" very weak intel core 2 at 1.6GHz and 4GB DDR3 and 120GB SSD iv seen so many people play games on this machine so thats why i thought the extra few gigs of ram would help but still slightly laggy also could u recommend some games

  • @iphonepunker minecraft is JAVA, so it's a heavy OpenGL program. Which means you MUST have a GPU present if you want to play minecraft at decent frames. As far as i know MAC book air uses intel graphics.

  • @DestroyerOfWorlds212

well my GPU is a Nvidea Geforce 320m 256MB so it should have enough just to play minecraft

  • @iphonepunker why would you expect to play games on a basic macbook, that you bought in 2009. Laptops aren't made for gaming, desktops, and game consoles are made for gaming. If you do use a laptop for gaming you better get the best model the company carries, which is Macbook pro 17 inch, with ati radeon6750 with 1gig of GDDR5 memory

  • @WestcoastMusicals well the reason i expect it to play the games well cause it can play crysis 2 no problem and iv tested starcraft 2 on it and i looks pretty smooth but since minecraft 1.8 was released lagging stopped also mine is the 2010 model i bought 6 months ago and i do rather the gaming performance of the 2010 version to the 2011 and a macbook air has only been made the lowest model since they stopped making macbooks it just nice to see how far u can push the macbook air plus having

  • will it work with left 4 dead 2 team fortress 2 half life portal 1 and 2 :P

  • this is an old game. Why not test it on COD: MW2...since it was already out when you recorded this video.

  • NVIDIA has the best graphics.

  • @TheApplenewsguy ATI has way better value

  • ****PLEASE HELP****

im saving up for one, and they are £849 and im going to sell my itouch, its cracked quite badly, wats the max price i can sell it for... i also have an imac mouse, a bose idock and a sony DCR-SR37, plz come back to me ty :)

  • The reason the gaming is good on the 2010 MB Air isnt because of the ssd, but because of the nvidia gt 320m. Apple screwed up the 2011 one with only integrated graphics...

@masterhidsert1043 I absolutely agree that macs are quality machines, but that still doesn't justify their extreme price tags. It has gotten a bit better this year, but all of Apple's products' MSRPs are way higher than what you should be paying for the hardware, even in combination with good workmanship.

  • How do you play games on the macbook air like COD?

  • @GrandmasterJman05 buy it on Steam.

  • @avatarfilmeaza lol nice one

  • Comment removed

  • that is very impressive. my last desktop couldnt run it like this. lmao

  • Well my MBA11 2010 really run good on COD4 and i have finish this great game, really awesome! My little notebook that could provide me a great gaming on!

  • It's COD, a potato could run it.

  • @starwarsfan76

    FUCKING RETARD

  • @unifylical Typical mac-fanboy I see.

  • FAKE !!! CROMAKIE

  • *sithi96 I'm not from either of the mentioned, fortunately. Why are you using this site if your English is so poor? Go to some foreign YouTube, we certainly don't need you around here hurting our language from your bad control with the keyboard....

  • to bad it over heats in 5 mins

  • my 2011 macbook pro 13" cant run cod 4 graphics. i see alot black walls and black floors...

  • @sithi96 And I see a lot of idiocy and ignorance in your comment. Learn to spell "a lot", you juvenile misfit. You don't deserve to be on the Internet.

  • @1DPIKI FU. im very sorry that im not from USA or england or any other country which main language is english

  • btw I'm pretty sure that it can game at decent settings is mainly due to the 320M, not the SSD

  • @KRE8TVT Definitely the higher graphics card. My blackbook has 4 gigs of ram, 2.2ghz and won't even allow me to install games like Portal (first or second) or any "real" 3D game. Graphics memory? 132mb :/

  • i run it on my macbook pro

  • lol wht a bunch of crap !

  • For those of you rushing out to buy one, SSD's don't help very much in the way of gaming other then load times. I found this out the hard way when I realized the $200 SSD I bought had no effect on my shitty Intel Integrated Graphics performance.

  • @StainOnTheWall You should have read a couple of forums; yea jumping to an SSD isnt' really needed; for most people a 5200 or 7200rpm HDD will be great.

  • what about COD:Black Ops??

  • Can't anyone tell that this is fake?

  • @syfaulkner95

You can put windows on a Mac. And COD 4 Modern Warfare has been released to Mac

  • @syfaulkner95 It's not. That's why no one can tell.

  • 1) SSD doesnt improve the graphics / FPS

    2) "It will game just as good if not better than any custom build PC out there today" - I think not

  • @aidengrandfield "Your sarcasm detector ain't workin'..."

  • @AnimalCrossingFor3DS Damn.. Really? I was sure this video was for real. If this video a piss take then... OK... I humbly put my hands up and apologise for being a snob :-)

  • @aidengrandfield Your sarcasm detector is off.

  • @aidengrandfield 3) You missed the point where he was being sarcastic >.>

  • This guys a fucking clueless twat. The SSD doesnt change actual performance, it only makes the loading of levels faster.

  • Now I know how this can run DJ ing software, couldn't believe it un till know, I might have to get one of these just to run my Traktor an Serato. Thanks for the vid

  • is the Macbook Air 11 inch good in playing games..?? pls reply

  • @Macmizan Are you braindead? Pls reply.

  • @Benjomatic Fuck you

  • Wizzo91は本物の馬鹿だね

  • Yeah it can run COD 4 , what about mw2? Dont think so^^ this laptop sucks for gaming

  • Intel GMA FAIL

  • The SSD does not support the framerate of the game at all.......... do you know ANYTHING about programming and how games operate? They don't real-time depend on the hard drive.

  • is COD 4 for mac ?

  • dude this little thing can run that game lag free!! this thing is a BAMF!!!!

  • @MrBbznot1 aha.

You know that CoD2 and 4 SP and MP works without lag, and I've also tested a Cider-ported GTA San Andreas without lag.

  • @MrBbznot1 I think your sarcasm detector isn't working.

  • @UlikazuTV I don't know, I've only briefly used one of the new Air models. I know some Macs use Control for right-click, and others use the two-finger tap.

  • @UlikazuTV Because the moron is playing it with his touchpad, which, afaik, does not have a right-click button.

  • Im ganna buy the 15 inch mac pro quad-core i7 just for gaming.

  • can you ply fear2 in the air can you tell me plz^^

  • @totdesritter probably. Although you shouldnt buy a mac book air for gaming. But it does light gaming and i have seen i run black ops, crysis, UT, UT 2004, UT3. so yea like i said it should run it

  • Thumbs up if you COD 4

  • You sound like you're talking from your ass. Shut up.

  • sc2 sucks on mac

  • This is because mainly, FPS games Like COD, or MOH doesn't need intense Processor, hence, even if you are using 1.4Ghz C2D, it will still work good, it's working well because of the 320M and a bit of the SSD,

try playing Shogun 2 Total war, It's probably gonna be only 5-10 fps.. and no way you can play on the Air

  • ive gotta say thats pretty damn impressive

  • $1000 will get you a fucking awesome gaming rig.

    apple = always overpriced.

  • @greenrolaids Lol if you actually owned a Mac, you wouldn't say that. Yea sure, $1000 dollars is a lot, but Macs are QUALITY of machines, they OWN PCs in sooo many ways. I own a gaming rig and a Mac, and i find myself using my Mac way more. Take note that I was a PC fanboy until I bought myself a Mac :)

  • @masterhidsert1043

macs are soo expensive that only the exclusive few can own them...lol

I have had 2 current mac's .. i have also worked with them in my office.

That said.. $1000 in pc money will get you a computer that apple will charge you $1800 speed for speed.

  • @greenrolaids Lol you got a point there. But people say that there expensive, but, in a couple of months of saving up i was able to get it. Just a lot of people don't know how to do that... But even after owning both PC and Mac, PCs are just better at gaming. Macs are more for working on them. Thats why i have both OS installed on my macbook pro. But if your going to invest a lot of money on a computer, you have to think if your going to need a gaming machine or a machine to work on.

  • @masterhidsert1043

im actually considering a 11 air..

    im a jackass. ;)

  • @greenrolaids Think about it as long as you have another powerful computer. I bought it already having a powerful desktop but, I realized that I should have gotten a macbook pro or an HP envy because laptops own desktops in my opinion.

  • @masterhidsert1043 Same here. I don't remember the last time I used my windows machine.

  • @masterhidsert1043 I have a mac an PC, I love my mac an my pc. Truth is look at the direction of Mac, it's moving towards pc technology, not the other way around, this is why the Mac is so good because it is incorporating PC technology an PC software. Mac as it sits now does not own PC, PC owns Mac simple as that. To each their own though, I have both an like both. My 2 cents

  • @masterhidsert1043 Quality my ass...

  • @masterhidsert1043 Quality? I definitely disagree, Macs overheat like crazy, which damages lifespan of parts by a ton, also my mac got lines down the screen within a few years of use, my value dell laptop which I've gamed heavily on has lasted now for 7 years and still works just great. Macs overcharge bigtime for parts, just admit it, it's true. I'm fine with Macs, I own a couple, but I like PC a lot more

  • @masterhidsert1043 yeah on occasions, but not so long ago the iMacs had a yellow tint on the screen...apple doesn't seem to have the best quality control in the world..

  • @masterhidsert1043 In what ways do Macs own PCs?

  • @masterhidsert1043 macs suck. end of story

  • @masterhidsert1043 ya if I'm doing general things I'll use my imac but for gaming I'd rather use my pc :/

  • @masterhidsert1043 macs are overpriced there is nothing really better other then editing programs

  • @masterhidsert1043 actually, altho Macs have a higher initial layout, they have a lower TCO (total cost of ownership. look it up). on a PC you will constantlyhave to buy things for it, a Mac will last longer. Plus, the customer service is 100 times better.

  • People who say that this is a netbook, well, they should have done their homework better, beacause this is a full machine.

  • Small but powerfull. You're gonna fry the CPU & GPU if you don't take a break.

  • u ar the biggest fucktard iv seen. u going to friken kill the machine.

the macbook air is made for portability. not friken gaming

  • Thanks for the reference to the alternative $45 CD drive! I'll definitely be picking that up as opposed to the Apple version!

  • its fake!!!

  • macs suck gaming.. they use OpenGL.. looks shitty plays shitty... horrible graphics too. and the ssd only helps load the game.. has no effect on game performance.. its just a lie mac sold to you.

  • @mrstupidface then whyd you watch you dumbfuck, fuckin hell get a mother fuckin life.

  • @TheSlavishMonkey Nerdrage much? Apperently knowing more makes me a dumbfuck? haha ok.

  • @mrstupidface Trollololol. :D FYI OpenGL is faster, open-standard and cross-platform. The fact that Microsoft uses misleading images and promotes its own closed-standard doesn't make it the best API out there, just sayin'. And if you still think OpenGL looks and plays shitty, check out a little game called "RAGE" by little unknown developer "id".

  • @Nesveri Yes its crossplatform.. but it sucks.. Put a new gtx 580 on a pc and play any game.. then put it in a mac and play any game.. HUGE Difference.. Opengl is faster on some games because it supports shitty graphics...

  • Doesn't it get really hot while playing games

  • cool, i wanna play cod4 on a computer more expensive than mine on lower settings with low frame rate tooo

  • @dndepisode67 Its not meant for gaming, its meant for businessmean and students, oh yeah, and people with a life, unlike you.

  • @TheSlavishMonkey awww :3 dont get all butthurt, just because i made a joke. its ok, i know you want a life too

no need to reflect ur crappy social life on me buddy.

  • what the hell it doesnt freeze why the hell do people buy macbook pros if macbook air is the same thing but lighter????

  • @9870gamer well the MacBook pro's are more powerful for people who use CPu intensive tasks, which a lot of users do.

  • Wow I never thought, that you can run Team Fortress 2 with ALL settings on maximum on a MacBook Air! Just tried it and it ran fluently and fully playable! It was the Steam version for Mac. Never thought, that the MBA has such a gaming power!

  • 0:24

  • Is it a good gaming laptop??

  • are the controls are dificult?

  • oh my god 0_o SPEED

  • Fake?

  • #LOL

  • hehe thats actually pretty neat!!!!

  • what settings are you using for this? I'm curious to buy this now.

  • @kpeshin1 dude, get a alienware m11x

  • @milomilex that laptop is a fuckin fatass, get this macbook air its super nice and looks like a true gamer

  • @chikensaregood LOL alright joke of the month ~

  • Ok yea if you go to target or walmart you won't pic up something better than a mac air in any way. But who buy's computers at walmart or target in the first place for gaming? Also You pay 1,000 bucks for that and in a way its worth the price. But there are custom built and non custom built pc's that are better for gaming that same size (screen size) and lower price.

I'd like to see things from your perspective but sadly i can seem to get my head that far up my ass.

The door is to your left.

  • @sodazv06 he said batteries not the notebook fail

  • What settings have you used for this? Like resolution etc?

  • Once the mission is loaded any performance is determined by the cpu, RAM and gpu. The SSD has nothing to do with it.

  • thats fake, its been comp'd in using an aftereffect program

  • shooter games are meant to played at 60 fps and higher

that thing gets like 25 fps lol

  • @Koldness99 haha, at best. it slows down to under 10 quite often when anything much is happening.

  • Instead of buying a portable drive, network your desktop's drive

  • have u played any other games too? like gta 4 or bad company 2? Íd like to get one but i need a (sub)notebook thats able to run my games too.

  • Hey Jonathan,

I'm really interested in the MacBook Air 13 inch model, what has your experience been with video editing such as with iMovie 11? Is it laggy? Does it tend to freeze? Can you run background apps at the same time?

  • That cpu and ram is more than enough for COD4 on that tiny monitor. Its not like its pushing that much res anyway. I'm not too surprised that it runs like that. Although it is still cool. I've been wanting to get one of these new macbook airs

  • did u sayd that ''gaming is better than ANY CUSTOM build pc outhere''? if yes ur rly fucked up dude...if no my bad

  • "game if not better than any custom built PC" all I can say is you need to look at an Asus G73

  • wait... SSDs improve gaming performance? you must be used to really shitty hard drives if you actually are getting a better framerate from a ssd

  • hi i always watch ur vidoes and i was just wondering u don't have disc rom on the macbook air so how are u playing the game please answer thanks

  • Uhm. De Alienware M11x is more powerfull =.=.

    Don't say that: 00:10 xD

  • which one is faster the macbook air 11'' or the asus lamborghini vx6??

  • SSD only helps with load times its the pgu (nvidia 320m) that runs the game. i think its the 32m i dunno
