  • dude that is freaky to see how much power and tools to make something like this man were gonna have flying cars before you know it.

  • wind propelled? hardly!

a thing that massive would require quite a bit of wind to get it moving along. obviously there isn't much of a breeze as you can see the puddle of water in the foreground is as still as ice. and if you look carefully, there's actually at least one person behind this contraption who is pushing it forward (0:14).

but it's still a beautiful thing

  • Theo Jansen, they're absolutely amazing.

  • aieeeeeeeeeeeeee, kill it kill it now,you take the leg on the left and ill take the one on the right glory will be ours if not victory.

  • METAL GEAR?!?

  • SUPER SPEED!!!!!!!!!!! O:

  • Have you watched the video the creator of this made? He's claiming they are a lifeform and wants to see herds of them wandering shorelines...Seriously, he thinks they are alive because they move...

  • we should send that thing to the recently discovered tribe, it would scare the hell out of them :P

  • Wind powered my ass.

  • I wanna ride that thing...

  • looks like a giant spider it kinda creeped me out

  • amazing!

  • So incredible

  • I think they are studying potential quantum robots. This is not the wind powered model.

  • you can see feet behind it pushing it... powered by wind.. bull ~1#$!

  • @MrDjackson6 ok so either this dude is pushing like a ton of metal by himself or there are people hiding inside each leg right?

  • @MrNobbless it's wind powered and self propelled

  • @MrDjackson6 look up strandbeasts, he's made a bunch of wind powered ones, maybe it was just a windless day

  • who's that pokemon! or is it a digimon?

  • It's made to crush protesting people gathering at g20 summits and logging road blocks and new world order protests.

  • That's horrifying.

  • tem uma cara empurrando ali atraz

  • Theo Jansens work its absolutely amazing. He builds all these walking machines that are powered by the wind.

  • This is Metal Gear Rex Gamma 3,14

    Alpha came some years later.

  • We are doomed...

  • IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!!!

  • neat

  • You can see the feet of the guy pushing it at 0:14.

  • Lets go kick it over

  • @stonedozermand whatever is powering it, who cares. its awesome

  • Somewhere, in an alternate universe, there is a very angry Solid Snake standing in front of an armed version of this cursing himself...

  • The new Abrams m1A3

  • parece bicho...

  • Ahh yes, I see legs, humanoid bipedal legs. still incredible work though.

  • first i thought it was a alien paper attack tank or hand lol

  • Were those legs really moving like that or is this FX ? because the physics of the structure didn't look capable, there was no visible mechanics.

  • !? これってCG??

  • Met the man that made this, his works are awesome, as well as the dude himself. He is a true genious and innovator...

  • "not a military robot" .. yet :)

  • it moves very natural :o

  • creeeepppyyyy.........

  • WHERE'S MY NEWSPAPER?! KILL IT!

  • when someone said make an origami spider... no one knew that guy would go to such lengths.

  • wath if you was standing near it?

  • uh...is that a giant dust mite? lmao

  • that think looks alien :D

  • thats so cool!!!

  • very cool, i wanna see it fly!

  • awesome piece of work , anything else to show?

  • cool

  • Scale that up so you can land aircraft inside longwise, an airport carrier.

  • i can feel my arachnophobia kicking in...

  • se ve genial, pero amenos que sea un super terreno... es mejor un tanque.... este es muy lento pero podria ser el inicio de algo mas rapido

  • at least they don't act likes its anything it isnt. me like.

  • Thats a fair answer. I was probably in a pretty sarcastic mood when I wrote that comment, I'm not against the creative arts.

  • what is the ultimate point of this???

Its cool...but....if your smart enough to build this....could you not be doing something just a tad more...productive.

    I'm just saying...

  • What is the point of many things? What is the point of spending almost a billion dollars a year chasing a ball around an oval? (superbowl). peace

  • Well... The title "ART APPARENTLY" says it all... It doesn't need to be a tad more productive. It's just as it is. At least it's still a quality craft.

  • This is more of a moving piece of cardboard art and NOT some kind of wind powered robot. At most the wind may be helping to get a some forward motion.

  • you can see the people pushing it

  • I believe i heard him say it moved too fast and it broke itself because of that. Maybe he's behind it to slow it down instead of pushing it.

  • itrs pushed by people

  • that is cool looking

  • kinda looks like a taccoma

  • IIts powerd by wind made by Theo Jansen search him on youtube

  • @Daveystar123 Wind? take a closer look.. there are 2 guys pushing it... anyway.. It´s very cool

  • @stonedozerband There wasn't any wind that day so they had to. But under normal circumstances they're wind powered. Usually walking across windy beaches.

  • @stonedozerband oh well, it still rocks

  • @Daveystar123 no, it's powered by the humans pushing it, you can see their feet under it.

  • look in the middle towards the back

  • This is a piece by Theo Jansen titled "Rhinoceros"

  • u can see a man pushing it luk underneath

  • wat is it!?

  • It looks like it's made of cardboard.

  • It's not stop animation. If you look carefully you can see a man pushing it. Go to Ted-dot-com and search for Theo Jansen. Many work on wind power. It is not stop animation.

  • Comment removed

  • That's the coolest stop animation I've seen, ever.

  • thats stop motioin!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's not stop-motion.

  • but its card board box isnt it?

  • No, it's not.

  • Comment removed

  • 1- flickering water caused by video compression. 2-Theo jansen.. I don't think its cardboard, and it's meant to crawl across beaches. Besides, this is not a wind powered model and you can clearly see a dude pushing it toward the end..

  • Holy Sh*t!!!

  • put a sleeping person out there and start the robot up and case himLOL

  • ok there are really goin to be transformers soon..this is scary

  • if this scares you, you need testicular fortitude...

  • looks like snake got a better box

  • Isit a pleasure model? Can it perform sexually?

  • jthhtnhtnht

  • people are pushing it

  • the Taco is impressed that looks bad ass. Scary to have it follow you at night down a dark alley way.

  • Reminds me of the things I use to make with this game..."Soda Constructor" I think it was called

  • it would be awesome to ride one of those things....

  • they should build hundreds of these to put in some avante-garde art house movie....

  • Nice

  • theo jansens kinetic machines work with wind. they propel the 'monster' and most of the time he tests them on beaches. he's dutch and does this kind of thing for the last 25 years.

  • yeah, but he pushes this one, guess because the weather didnt co-operate. you can see his feet beneath it.

  • It's a giant fucking crab thingie! Let's bring it to japan, paint it green, and unleash it on tokyo! Run for you rives! Is not Godzirra but still giant crab thing!

  • If they see it they'd look for its glowing weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE.

  • LMFAO hahahaha!

  • actually these are usually wind powered, which is why its being pushed... find the TED talk and watch the whole thing... or search theo jansen

  • WTF is this!

  • wow...human legss at 0:22

  • theo jansen - kinetic sculptor

  • The Giant Tick, just add two people who like to push things!

  • mechanical, it has no poweer itself, you can see the people pushing it

  • If you look at the way it moves, maybe has a small battery to keep a few legs moving, the rest move off of the others, when one retracts, if pushes the other out

  • I think it is just a simple wheel cycle.

  • perfect!!!

  • Why is it any less impressive if it is aided by people?

I find the leg mechanics to be brilliant. And do take notice this is art. Since when was art very practical for real life use, especialy kinetic sculptures? Especially in its own category, this is bloody fantastic, I generally don't like kinetic sculptures one itty bit.

  • What an asshole title.

  • Cool!! Looks like some of those star wars machines xD

  • YAH IT DOES! Thats just weird but in an awesome way!

  • thats pretty cool.......

  • woe its nice

  • Aaaahh a giant tick... run away!

  • pushed along by two people

  • that is called the "beach animal" by Theo Jansen he has smaller versions of it too and they move by themselves ...

  • theo jansens art work

  • I saw these on tv. Wind powered only, they're calling him a modern day Davinci.

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?

  • It was shown in a German commercial. It's by a engineer/artist who likes to create wind-powered vehicles as technical pieces of art.

I just can't remember which company made this ad and what the name of the guy was =/

  • it looks so cool when it walks

  • i think it works with a big cylinder in the middle where the big square is and it rotates making all those legs move

  • designed by Da Vinci

  • F off

  • u f o

  • all your base are belong to us

  • nice... how big is that?

the persons inside/behind looks so small

  • there r people walking under it if u lok closly

  • You right bro..when you pay attention there`s 2 people under that shit and they look like they are pushing something!... look at their legs

  • Is this for real???

  • ! I am thoroughly surprised!!

    Wind powered?!

    Moves very smoothly also.

    Very graceful.

  • I love these things!!! Truely one of the most amazing artists of our time.

  • i would've enlisted already if it was.

  • wat the hell is it?

  • strange

  • The sculpture is by the Kinetic Sculptor / artist : Theo Jansen. Powered by wind with human assitance to steer.

Theo Jansen (born March 17, 1948, in The Hague, Netherlands.)

Search youtube : kinetic sculpture, you will see more his works.

    He is truely a genius.

Scientists are studing his kinetic sculptures.

One day, you will see kineticmobils, kineticopters in your everyday living.

    He is beyond this era.

  • yes you have done oyu research but he hopes that his creatures will be able to roam without human assistance and are powered off solar energy cant swim and walk in wet sand only

  • that thing is big its like 12 feet high next to the 2 guys under it.

  • i dont remember the details but i think it i 2-4 tons

  • this is amazing and kind of beautiful.

the movings are so smoth. really nice work! really!

  • Youtube idiots need to do some research into the artist/engineer before they shoot their mouths off... Complete ignorance.

  • dont be fucking idiots.

you want an explanation? i think it is pretty obvious that this thing is not motorized, so it takes the power of two guys to push it. the system itself is pretty amazing, despite the fact that this thing probably has no practical real world use, it is still amazing.

  • nice job

    NOT

    total fake

absolute fuck up you can clearly see people under it

  • I wonder if the two guys pushing it have to do with anything? IF you look carfully there are two guy under there!

  • WHOEVER MADE THIS IS A GENIUS!

  • Is this for real? Whats the story?

  • wow

  • reminds me of calatrava

  • that was the most fucking scary thing ive ever seen. imagine it could run!!! it would rule the world by next tuesday!!

  • LOL real life GMOD!!

  • funny. When i saw this video just now i thought about to rebuild this thing in gmod xD

  • this is a piece of work by Theo Jansen, a netherlands based artist. look up his Strandbeechen (sp) series which are like this one only wind powered and made from yellow tubes. He's a genius in engineering.

  • Buena estabilidad , buena fluides de moviemiento , buena velocidad , aunque parece un montaje hecho de carton XD

  • y de que crees que son?

  • nope, elephants dont look like that

  • that "machine" its the work of calder, an artist

  • METAL GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

  • Someone is pushing it you can clearly see the legs under it

  • ur retarded

  • Oh wait nm, just looked at it again. It does look like someone's pushing it.

Aren't these things supposed to be wind-powered though?

  • wow genius!what is it made of?how is someone pushing it?

  • Noone is pushing it. It's powered by wind.

  • stupid fuck face cant you see the guys legs under it? fucking BLIND!

  • No point in getting all bitchy on the internet... Take a chill pill... and by chill, I mean cyanide.

  • hahahaa

  • yh people are there but there only pushing it not moving the legs.

  • wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!you are all wrong it is powered by demons

  • it looks like its running in slo-mo

  • Now thats FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • just to construct that thing is Amazing.

  • Man, I would love to ride that to school c:

  • holy shit
