I think the characters in the movie and show are two interpretations of the same characters. Both are very good and I don't think you should look at the show as the movie but as a regular TV show.

FYI People, this IS NOT BASED ON THE MOVIE! It's based on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. So GET OVER YOUR MEANINGLESS ANGER, actually LOOK at the series. It's just that the titles are the same, it's not based on the movie.

I think if people go in watching this with expectations from the movie (comparisons to the movie cast, etc.) it will undoubtedly be an extreme disappointment, especially with Heath Ledger comparisons.. This isn't meant to be anything like the movie. The storyline isn't even the same.. Although I too am a little skeptical about it, I plan on giving it a try and would rather spend 30mins on this ABC Family show then oh let's say.. The Secret Life of the American Teenager!
