  • NOW we have an 11 inch laptop with about the same power as 2 of these cards... amazing.

  • Cool motherboard colors! :D

  • Maybe anyone here can help. I'm having a lot of trouble with my (pretty) old computer. I upgraded my old videocard to a new one last year and aslo updated my power supply. But i dont want to spill to much money to get a decent gaming computer. If i upgrade my motherboard AND CPU will me computer then wont have any problems anymore? My trouble is that it crashes EVERY day, i need too reboot manually to restart and most if the time it doenst fire up anymore and i need to wait 3-4 hours.

  • Do you think this board will support DDR2 1066mhz?

  • looks JUST like a evga 750i, but with 3 pcie

  • I have the same mobo and its great :D. Don't do overclocking though and I only use 2 gfx cards.

  • will this xfx 780i fit zalman 9700nt cpu cooler please reply

  • Yes it will.

  • hay can any one tell me what cpu cooler will be best for this but not too expensive i ran a quad core

  • arctic pro freezer 7 amazing only £15

  • im not sure for this motherboard but try a dark knight.

  • Hey i have the evga 780i tri sli motherboard and im trying to get my q6600 to 3.4/3.6ghz on stable. I have a Corsair TX 750watt PSU, 4gb OCZ HP Ram, and a Zalman 9700 heatsink. It runs stable then seems to reboot at random times and restarts after like 5 minutes of Prime95. I personally think its the memory timings but imnot sure. im running them at stock timings so if i overclock does that mean i have to tighten up my timings? Theyre at 4-4-4-15 at 2.2v stock and my Vcore is 1.55 actual CPU-Z.

  • this mobo works best on a FSB overclock of 1700 mhz

buy a hig-power 80 mm fan like the 80 mm orange thermaltake fan or a water block for the FSB otherwise your mobo will crash like hell

  • can you have to graphics cards

  • you can have 3 on this motherboard

  • sli has a hell of a trade off

sli is great for games but my job involves allot of video editing and scanning allot of paper work

i found the sli slowed photo shop, video editing and scanning when i switched to a single card the programs were 4x faster.

  • If anyone could help with my issue. I appreciate any answers and Thank you in advance.

    This is wanted custom PC:

    -EVGA nForce 790i Ultra ATX

-EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX *OR* GTX+

-Intel Corde 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4 Ghz(I don't know what overclocked means but i want it to 3)

    -Western D 1 TB 7200RPM

    -LG Blu-Ray player

    -CoolIT Systems PURE CPU 1000

-4GB of RAM then upgrading it to 8GB

Thanks to everyone again to take there time to read and post!

  • Seems that i missed the most issue, my issue is that how much watts do i need? PSU

  • at least 750 or 800 watt

i would recommend going for the 850 or 900 watt psu

  • You don't know what overclocking is?

  • What do you guys reckon of this gaming build? are all the parts compatible and what not?

    Processor- Duo core E8400 3.0GHz

    Motherboard- Gigbyte EP45-DS3

    DVD burner- SATA

    PC Memory- 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz

    HDD- 250GB harddrive

    Graphics card (PCI-E)- 9800GTX

    Power Supply- 550W Super Flower

    Monitor- ASUS 5MS 19"

    Reply back to me please.

  • Thats a good build but i would get a extra 2GB of ram and at least 750watt PSU.

  • I would buy the 9800GTX+ instead and yeah same as rucka704 said... don't reckon you need a 750W though... but I would buy it just to futureproof

  • Definitely dont need a 750. Most people think that stuff needs more power then it actually does.

  • buy a intel

  • it is a Intel.... Intel core 2 duo E8400

  • oke

  • Awesome choices. But, go with 4gb. Very worth it.

  • this guy sounds like maxishine the guy with bare money

  • why didn't you go for three way sli with that card??

  • would this mobo support crossfire ?

  • Its a NVIDIA Chipset, NOT ATI, So NO it doesnt support Crossfire, This Motherboard supports SLI (3 Way SLI)

  • If your using Crossfire buy a mobo with an Intel chipset. X48 for example

  • hey you have furniture from ikea dont you

  • How do you get the money for a core 2 extreme. there over $1,000.

  • uuummmm, work? :)

  • help does anyone know if this will work with the new xfx 9 series graphics cards?

  • Yes it will.

  • DUH!!!!

  • i got this mainboard today! and a XGX 260 XXX :D with a E8500 and corsair 4 GB :D yeah I will love playin crysis at very high settings on my brand new 22" :D yeah!

  • very high with low fps thats it:). crysis is stil a heavy game with the latest hardware

  • lol dude i have average 43 FPS! all settings on very high witz 1650 x 1050 solution. so don't say shit about my pc! Just cuz you ain't got the money to buy one...

  • 43 fps is fucking lol you fucking noob, you talk like a bitch.

  • ? I'm not an american neither from australia or gb so don't say that I'm a noob cuz I wanna learn english idiot.

yes I got 43FPS Average wich is rly good in my opinion.

  • your english is good you fuck.

    And +60fps=good

    43fps=ok

  • cool when I would turn my settings on high then I would probably get +60FPS

    don't swear like a goat!

  • weardo's

  • xD yes I am and he is too xD

  • I think you should buy a camera stand

  • will a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale 3.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8600 work with this motherboard

  • I think you mean 45nm E8600, yes it will work with the 780i SLI.

    Regards,

  • can a ASUS EN9800GT MT/HTDI/512M GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card work with this motherboard

  • Yes!, any video card will work on this motherboard, but stick with nvidia if you want to go SLI in the future

  • im getting besically your system =O But with OCZ reaper edition ram

  • on this board can i use 1066 ram even if this board says DDR2 800????

  • Supports up to 1200Mhz, so 1066Mhz will be fine. :}

  • i bought the first version of the xfx 780i sli board vs 1a i think

the nvidia system tools reads the MCP (south bridge) temperature as 135C that's 275F

i contacted XFX they said that the earliest MOBOs didn't have a SB sensor

either that or my MOBO should be on fire :D!

  • I LOVE XFX PACKAGING !

  • Dats bout the only reason I go for XFX rather than EVGA. Also taking into consideration that XFX has about the same sort of warranty EVGA might have.

  • XFX looks so friggen cool all there products together make a nice looking system =]

  • i too have bought XFX and i can tell u know they are the best, they dont skimp on anything! If u are an enthusiast buy XFX.

  • thanks for showing this Ive never even seen more than one pcie

  • how much was it

  • Off the top of my head, $5500+, everything is 2 years old , except the motherboard.

  • hey thanks, maby you could help me out, tomoro im getting a older comp, 3-4 years old. pc. im getting a nice case with it though. for 80. but im wondering if i can upgrade it. like do a littl ehere and there.. or would it be better to just use it the way i get it, then just buy each part i need , MB, CPu ect till i get where i can just take out the old mb and cpu and put in this one

  • you remind quite a bit of maxishine

  • dont know what it is, but theres nothing like opening up all that new pc hardware :) just love the stuff. I have this board btw, Evga version they are identical. great great boards. best mobo ive ever had.

  • SO there's only 2 2.0 PCI-ex16 slots? How good is the bios and the manuel?

  • Hi,

    That's right 2@2.0 16x slots, the middle is 16x 1.0.

The 780i sli bios is nothing special, but offers pretty much everything a person wants, including the Enthusiast, and the manual is laid out nicely.

  • What is the front audio 5.25" drive?

  • Yes it is :}

  • i have this motherboard and i love it. Is there any way i could get nvidia monitor without installing nvidia control panel.

  • i am guna get that board have you had any problems plz msg me back

  • I havent had any problems, but if your not using SLI, I STRONGLY recommend getting a intel board, such as X38/X48.

  • nice dude, very nice.

  • ok tanks im gonna buy 4gig then THANK YOU!

  • should i get the 790i or the 780i? i want the 790i but the ram is very expensive cuz i want 8 gig ram :)

  • Hi there,

If you have the money for DDR3, i would surely go for 790i, the 790i sli was designed to compete with intel's X38/X48 boards.

    790i sli are alot more stable and faster than the 680i/780i boards, considering its a whole new chipset. 8gig RAM huh.., in all honesty 8GB RAM is a absolute WASTE, 4GB is more than enough. :}

  • and a nother thing sould i get evga or xfx? realy confused thx for helping

  • XFX & EVGA are both reference design boards, which basically means they are exactly the same, after that its a matter of personal chioce. :}

  • did this work on the first try b/c I had bought an asus striker extreme 680i and this is a piece alright (CPU INIT Error). I going to buy this from newegg and I hope I dont go through the same fustration

  • What do you have pluged into your motherboard?

Have you tried pressing F1 when posting??

    Let me know :}

  • Does not even Post! I know that it is working b/c the boards LCD lights up with the error message. Every online says that it is either the memory or lack of compatibility with quad cores and 45nm processors. So this board runs very well right? I have done 5 months of research and this is my first build for gaming only and I can only regret overlooking the issues with this board.

  • ok, If your using SLI ( 2 or more nvidia GPU's) we have no choice but to go with SLI boards such as the 780i SLI, but in the other hand if your not using SLI or using ATI cards,

I STRONGLY reccomend going with a intel boards such as, X38 or X48, they are ALOT more stable and overclock hell of alot better..

By the way what CPU & RAM are you using with your 680i board??

  • Core 2 Quad Q6600 (65nm) and Corsair XMS2 2GB(2x1GB) PC 5400. I have 2 9800 GX2 waiting to be put in but, I put in a brand new 8800 GTS (G92) to test first and I know that card is working.

  • try booting with 1 RAM stick..?

  • tried it and I had also tried it with a cheaper stick and nothing.

  • hehehe i bought a 680i lt and i got a door thing. then it died so i returned it and kept the door think. lol it's so cool!

  • Does the motherboard have speaker?

  • Yes it does.

  • I want to hear the beep sound of this mobo every time I turn it on

  • is it worth 40 bucks to get the 780i over the 680i a1

  • if your wanting one of the new quad cores then yeah, anything else nah not really.

  • i think they pulled all the 680is out of stores :S i was gonna get 680i till i noticed te next day they were all unavailable...BUT i didnt care its only 40 bux more for 780i :P

  • that north bridge heat sink is not big enough and the fan sucks

i got 2x 50mm fans and 1x 60mm fans and attached them with zip ties and plastic screws to the north bridge that cools it for gaming.

one fan was zip tied to the pipe cooling the voltage regulators, another attached to the nb slant and another on the other side next to the graphics card that fits.

  • What are your temps with all that cooling?

  • samething im wondering.. xD

  • these are the changes made to the 780i compared the the 2006 680i

    1. Native Yorkfield and Wolfdale support

    2. PCI-Express 2.0 certification

    3. 3-Way SLI support (3 full x16 lanes)

    4. Optimized for new software including new NVIDIA Control Panel and NVIDIA System Monitor

    5. Refined BIOS for overclocking (ie: ability to use half multipliers, etc.)

  • Im aware of that, but thank you

  • nice,watch my videos

  • take a pair of tin snips to the gtx vents... since youve got LCS

  • Great idea, Thx..

  • wats the case

  • Coolermaster 830 stacker

  • Check out my completed cm stacker stc-t01 case and other hardware vids.

  • Maybe i should, but is it really worth it?

  • hell nice man u should buy another gtx :)
