Nothing about this fight even makes sense. It's fan service. He never lost to Goku in season 1. He got ganged up on. Over estimated the kaio ken and could have whipped Goku's ass without transforming at all. His sole objective was to be the best and rule the universe. I'll never understand why Toriyama allowed the nerdbase to completely change his character. Sure, he wants to prove that he's better, but the whole hatred/vendetta thing is so forced that it makes me gag.

I love this fight because for the first time u get to see the contradictory of their fighting styles. Vegeta is a brute so has no rules and wants to humiliate his opponent more than destroy them, but is usually a great fighting strategist. Then Goku is a highly trained and disciplined fighter and person. He's more of a fighting on the fly type fighter so learns as he fights. A incredible battle of wits and emotion then it is a physical contest,
