  • bjj comes from gosen judo, maeda took it to brazil and they popularised it,but you can see the influence that it has on other styles, even japanese judo people are doing bjj like moves,I have done some of this hapkido under mathew kim but it was the early nineties and now the influence is more on takedown and ground, its bjj influence on other arts

  • lol 1:18 that's some crazy ass shrimping

  • This is Newaza with some takedowns, throws, and punches put in as a garnish. This is not BJJ. This man obviously has an understanding of the Judo Ground Game, which he has taken and mixed with small joint manipulation and other Hapkido concepts. It's not amazing because it's whatever the hell you call it here, unless you want to consider that it's amazing because it's basic Judo techniques expanded with some Hapkido . Gah... Freakin Hapkido people, man... lol.

  • Congratulations for all people of Yusul Hapkido, this is a very EFFICIENT style. I wish that others Hapkido fighters opened your eyes and mind to this.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Good technics

  • @RealVQT Technics is an audio equipment company.

  • Concerning the BJJ comments. "Ne Waza" which is the ground fighting popularized by "BJJ" was actually bread from Kano - Jitsu as Judo was earliest known (Jigoro Kano founded Judo). Much like all other arts, the Ne-Waza is the portion of Judo that is most often neglected due to "sport" and "competition training!

The Gracie's themselves were taught the techniques of Judo as their basis for creating the Gracie "style" JJ

  • 1:18 is where he starts break dancing on the mat lol

  • i read this from a TKD magazine that was written by the first Gongkwon black belt in Australia:

Gongkwon Yusul is the end product of decades of research by Master Kang Yun, whose depth of knowledge in the Korean martial arts came from his life-long dedication to achieving of senior ranks in several hapkido styles, judo, traditional Jiu-jitsu, Korean-style Thai kickboxing (Kuktooki), taekwondo and Korean sword arts.

hope this helped answer some of the questions about Gongkwon

  • I think you are probably right.

I used to learn TKD, Kuktooki in Korea.but not master at all though.

  • QUIET KEYBOARD NINJAS

  • they aren't demonstrating the tkd aspects of gongkwon here. but the grandmaster says that gongkwon is tkd hapkido and judo.

  • i see, is it judo, or korean yudo? i realize it's sort of splitting hairs. but most judo schools these days dont teach much ne-waza

  • yudo, i just said judo bcuz i didn't want to explain what yudo was.

  • i guess then it wouldn't be gongkwonyusul

  • then challenge him....

  • i think it is one of those things where you see it and your like that s nothing then you grapple wit h him and you like holy shit.o

  • yo why doesnt this blackbelts move look as slick and smooth as Brazilian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelts

  • BJJ Black Belts have trained specifically on BJJ for the most part. This style seems very eclectic, therefore they probably split there training up between Judo, Karate, and BJJ. Will take much longer to master the ground game.

  • No Karate if you told my friends that they are jump on me since I started in Karate they go that is Hopkido. I have Wrestled for 34 years and Ju-jitsu to 18 and still have not mastered my groundgame but some say I just dont think so. I see some throws but most are like wrestling and few that are more bone twist throws meaning not judo since that is not legil.

  • I feel do this if you have good background in ground fighting that is way good, then learn Ju-jitsu you dont have to master that just understand some good moves and how to defend yourself, then learn how to punch, block, redirect, clich and help you do stand up.

    I feel-

best I feel stand up (kung-fu)

    best ground (bjj)

best clich to grab them aka takedown (wreslting, a little sombo)

best throwing after your clinch (judo, or lots of Greco Wrestling)

    best phylosiophy (hopkido)

  • your both wrong, gongkwon yusul is a martial of its own that has elements of hapkido, brazillian jiu jitsu, western wrestling, as well as different striking methods, although it has elements of bjj its completely different and thats why it looks "sloppy."

  • god this dude is fucking good

  • That's not TKD. That's BJJ.

  • yea no tkd here but gongkwon is like hapkido tkd bjj judo and karate all in one.

  • awsome
