  • this video is pretty good, just use your tabs with it -.-

  • Sorry but there are some incorrect spots in this solo, the way you played it is not like hendrix

  • AWESOME !!!!

    thanks dude

  • Actually scrap that, im the shit, it looks like its in dorian

  • Noobs and beginners aside...if you consider yourself guitar player and this is too fast for you then just go sell your guitar now.

  • EPIC FAIL!

  • look if youre gonna make these vids with no teaching atleast show your fingers then grouping them so atlest show us the fret.

  • ...talkin' about slow lessons

  • Hi, what guitar are you using? Brilliant video!

  • the pinky :/

  • LOL ur fly.

  • When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth

  • OMG Its a fucking video guys if you cant learn it by this.. set your guitar down and pick up your game controller and pop in Mario and hang it up....this guy is showing you everything if you feel its not correct move along. Nice video brother thank you.

  • I don't quite understand what your doing at the beginning. Is that a unison bend? Sorry if this is a dub question im only 12

  • @cph645 Its kind of stupid that no one answered you there are no dumb questions when it comes to the guitar. The answer is yes and no. It depends on how you play it in this video he just does the bends, but Jimi Hendrix actually does 3 unison bends after the first two regular bends. But its all about preference it doesn't matter how you play it. I prefer the unison bends, but the person who made the video doesn't. Sorry for the long explination, Peace. And have fun playing.

  • @AstrophelTDeath ok thanks i understand now :D

  • You're way too defensive in your responses to criticism. If you're going to post in the internet, just ignore the flamers.

  • timing way out :/

    thanks for trying anyway lol

  • too fast dude

  • I'm scare of this evil music lolllll

  • you use a pick? Jimi played this picking with his teeth, with the guitar behind his head, while drinking a glass of water. You play pretty good for a mere mortal though.

  • i thought that the solo was more longer :S

  • Nice work man...get the octave pedal an your there...if you like Jimi Hendrix and the Blues, check out some of my videos...

  • show

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • @Stratocaster571 A really fucking nice gibson les paul. I can tell that by not realizing by the sound you probably don't play guitar. But then again I could be totally wrong, even though I'm pretty damn sure that's what a sweet, fat, bright, toney gibson sounds like. I would chop off my left nut and keep it in a jar to have that guitar.

  • @scottvineyard7 I do play deushbag, i've been playing for 10 years.......................it just didn't loom like a Gibson to me, chill out

  • @Stratocaster571 I'm chill man...are you chill? lol

  • @scottvineyard7 It's a studio les paul, definitely not "very nice". At the very most it's a vintage mahogany or "special" model, all costing under $1000 on a day to day basis.. just sayin.

  • @PilotDoofy Every les paul is very nice. just because the price doesn't say shit. one studio can be made 10x better than a traditional just depends on who HAND built it. This paul he has happens to be a nice studio. All gibsons are very nice and beat every other guitar out there. Fact!

  • @scottvineyard7 Not every les paul is nice lol you're just showing your bias very blatantly. It's all in preference, sure some les pauls are true works of art, but I know a man with a true 59 LP (not burst sadly) whos daily guitar is a eric clapton custom strat.

Point is, I see what you're saying to a degree, but gibsons are overpriced and definitely not the best guitars in the world. Tons of custom companies offer better quality for a lower price, and it's personalized!

  • Nicely done. To all the people who bitch about not being "shown" how to play it... go pay for a few lessons, or practice so you don't suck as much as you do. Everyone wants something for nothing.

  • how long you've been playing man.

  • what guitar, amp and effects/pedals did you use in this video please? the sound is great, flaming..! thanx. And good explanation too

  • Sure it will work for a gig... that's the sound. Hendrix first laid hands on a guitar at age 17 and was dead only 10-years later as a guitar god. Completely self-taught, never a formal lesson, any tutoring he managed was just watching someone else play. The guy had to be born to play guitar. There's no other explanation for it.

  • WOW great vid check out my vids europeantourvideos dot com

  • Im missin a note at the very end and cant figure it out thats frustrating at 0:54

  • @fattirevsbud I just figured it out it's B A (very fast on repesctively Bstring 12th fret then G string 14th fret) then B A(1/2 bend) D A(Full bend)

    thanks for the video

  • is that the 80' gibson firebrand LP?

  • Sounds great!

  • cool - it works for me and remember- the very cool thing about jimi- he kinda improvised and didn quite play it the same way every time. which I think is cool. you know he was tripping alot while on stage- and he made up alot as he went along.

which is very refreshing consiering our micro brew music world today.

course everything thing was new then. who even wants to go to a concert today ? and then you have all the laddy gaga crap miley justin ass wipe et al. why bother ?

  • Preschool..........

  • *...guesswork and U*

  • The solo was well done, but unless you buy something from lick library ur not going to find many ppl that will sit down with u and tell u note by note how to play it(unless u have a teacher)...half the beauty in learning a solo is improvising and guesswork and 1 can't improvise if they cannot hear. Takes sum time 2 develop the skill but its a worthwhile skill 2 have Plus u can show off 2 ur buddies :-P (i just take a tab usually and modify it until it sounds like the original album release)

  • this is awwwesome and im 12. THANK YOU for posting!!!

  • hows that epi studio doin for yeh?

  • ahh thankyou

    :D

  • I would appreciate a tab and I dont think it sound exactly like hendrix played but great lesson anyway. =)

  • thanks for sharing really helped :-)

  • really cool!!

  • thanx for posting the opening solo to this. I couldn't decipher this in a million years. is that all minor stuff your playing. that's the part I couldn't get me brain wrapped around.

also, without a doubt, the way he wrapped Purple Haze at Woodstock goes down as the greatest blues wind up finale of all time.

could you post a lesson? the dynamic blues is off the charts. only thing that comes to mind in the end of RIGHT OFF on Mile's JacK Johnson, which is heavily Hendris driven.

  • Nice axe/loh. WTF is it? Looks rustic like it came out of Les Paul's woodshed from when he was messin around with solid guitar concepts in the late 40's. Good playing!

  • Great lesson

    What effect are you using?

  • fuck aye !

  • damn man great! The slow motion demo's always help me more than constant blabbering i loved this vid!

  • nice

  • that was really helpfull, but can you make an even slower part for that last lick, that was really hard to follow.

  • this is more like a cover of the solo?!

  • absolutly amazig!

  • Ive got the exact the guitar^^

  • fucking exelent can you give the tabs to me

  • where did you get the word slow from.

maybe play it one note at a time not 5 in one sec.

  • put on a little reverb, youre playin in a box right now

  • keep the tempo

  • the exact fingering i do. Great minds sir.

  • That's what she said.

  • lawl

  • awesome

  • Comment removed

  • i usaully improvise maybe its time to learn it

  • ass wipe dident even teach m how to play

  • Videos do require you to use your eyes and put some effort in - I can see you haven't got what it takes, Loser.

  • ? maybe if i already knew how to play the song butt had no born talent like u i would need this

  • @classicrockriffs lol well said! Cool lesson

  • @classicrockriffs nice lesson but wow u sound like a dick

  • @classicrockriffs Then, don't call it lesson.

  • @GabtheRocker Lessons like this assume you know the basics. You can see his fingers, and you should know the pentatonic scale progression by now. If you need anything more than that, then the lesson is too advanced for you anyway.

  • @classicrockriffs Im trying to learn my first hendrix song but I do not know how to read the tabs sliding thing please help...and good job on the guitar

  • @classicrockriffs

Don't play like that in public

  • @classicrockriffs honestly i totally areewith just watching sometimes is better than hearing it or being told it but in this case it is hard to see wat ur doing

  • @classicrockriffs Slow = playing it kinda fast and half the neck is off the screen. Real helpful. thats why you have 150+ dislikes.Loser

  • @zayke12 agreed

  • @zayke12 owned.

  • @zayke12 the whole video shows his fingers on the guitar you can clearly see all of the frets you can hear the sound....do you need someone to play your guitar for you too?

  • @zayke12 gtfo. failtroll.

  • @zayke12

    Agreed. Embarassing.

  • @zayke12 hes just trying to make things as difficult as possible..

  • Could you tell wich amp settings are you using?

    Nice job.

  • @MetalUpYourAss001 it sounds like high gain, about half counter and bass an then delay and quite abit of reverb, jus play around with it a little it depends on what amp you have aswell

  • vey cool, the tone is almowst perfect, I can play a version but not as good as this one

  • very close. it would work good enough for a gig. Great Job thanks for sharing it.

  • Good - it's what I use at gigs :-) cheers...

  • Can you do your fly up please. How can I play when I'm worried your cock will fall out?

  • @matty007b Don't worry, I'm well caged behind 501's button fly!

  • Comment removed

  • @matty007b fag

  • love the tone

  • nice job!

  • with anything by Jimi, you just have to make it your own like Stevie Ray Vaughan did...If you try to play it "exactly" like Jimi, it always sounds forced and like a cheap knock-off at best

  • well thats true unless you can play with feel and no one can really play like jimi but jimi so you cant blame ppl for trying to play like god... i mean jimi hahah

  • hehe yeah well I didn't mean anything by it If you wanna play jimi tracks, you should! I've just seen to many guys "imitating" a jimi song instead of playing a jimi song...just find your own groove to the song an roll with it!

  • yeah im not even gonna learn the solo hahah so i can move onto some xmas songs and because of what you said and i wanna put some feel into my own style

  • Comment removed

  • Cool, thanks for slowing this down. I have ben playing this for thirty years but missed a few of the fills! To those that can't follow this simple lesson, you need to go back to learning the basics first, like the Pentatonic. This is only difficult from getting Henrix's tone & touch, not technically.

  • this lesson sucks, slowing it down isnt gonna teach anyone

  • too fast and bending notes to high

  • im gonna post a response of me playin this

  • Doesn't sound like it does in the song. Omits a lot of notes and changes a lot of the rhythms of the original.

  • thats because he's not using an octave fuzz pedal like jimi was

  • @stephk42 not what I meant. i meant none of the rhythms are the same at all.

  • yeah that too :P

  • A Plus that was amazing !

  • everybody shut up it's decent enough that any sonofabitch without ADHD can learn from it.

  • that's ok but not that what i've expected to see :(

  • i wouldnt exactly say shitty... but definately lacking the rythm and groove of the original song... pretty much just playing the notes in the solo..

  • Why 3 dots at 12? and What Pickups it has?

  • What Guitar is that? Thats not a gibson cause it has no toggle in upper position and it has 3 dots at 12. BTW that guitar sound awesome!

  • It's a 1979 Gibson "The Paul" - great guitar, cheers...

  • pretty good playing, but lacks of the rythm of real solo...

  • nice hand cordination

  • you're a great gitarist and your rifs are very acurate and all,

But could you make a slower lesson with more instructions for the solo? I kind of got lost there. It's so fast and blurry :S

  • Yes, this could have been slower - I'll look at doing it again sometime. Cheers...

  • I agree with this. ;)

  • didnt teach me much...

  • he uses some kind of octive pedal on the original

  • its not the orignal album solo

i got a book of the studio solo

  • what distortion and pickups do you have?

  • ta bueno

  • son de madera esos dedos

  • what kind of guitar is that

  • Gibson Les Paul Studio or Vintage Mahogany I can't tell.

  • Heya can you help me...?

How do you make that weird noise at 0:21

  • I'm raking the pick over damped strings as a lead in to the next note, it's just a percussive noise that can add to the feel.

  • Thanks that was the only part I didn't get. Jimi Rulez!!!

  • Nic, U told me u sucked at that solo

  • cool.

  • not bad

  • Dude, thanks to you, I can now play a song that the best guitarist in my school can't.

  • chingon

  • that was real freaking good. what guitar was that

  • Cheers, It's my 1979 Gibson "The Paul"

  • is the tab for this the one on ultimate-guitar?

  • that wasnt fucking slow fucker

  • having trouble?

    ask nicely, you never know!

  • lol jk man

    ur good

  • its a slow version you idiot thats why its slow understand? moron

  • u should do all along the watchtower.

    that wood be epic :)

  • Some of the parts seem a little off rhythm to me and it's kind of throwing off the balance, but it is helpful for the general idea.

  • wow that guitar sounds awesome

  • after 0:53 you go to fast

  • are you fucking kidding me? this is an absolutely excellecent solo

  • Hello friend, I find unbelievable the tone you got on this video. What are you using? What pickups specifically? thank you very much

  • Thanks,

This is a 1979 "The Paul" through a Line6 Vetta, the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Custom I put in about 20 years ago!

  • I think jimi is LEGEND!! and i think this guy is giving a free sevice to the world!!!!I would love to see beter from the people who love to mock!! I think this is a great video and i thank you very much!!5 stars from me

  • Are you serious? Jimi was all about feel and tone, not just shredding. This solo is one of the best of all time.

  • i agree totally. i mean whats with all the mindless shredding going on these days? wheres the feel?!

  • just fyi to those of you who really think this is hendrix playing: um, Hendrix was black, his hand was black too, and Hendrix was left handed and played the guitar upside down... Also this solo has absolutely no comparison to Hendrix, Hendrix could play the exact same notes and they'd cast you into an entirely different colorful dimension of sound waves and screaming strings

  • i agree same notes don't equal same feeling and sme soul tht ws put in to everything Jimi did..

  • you know i always thought that. good to know im not the only one.its a good song but i think sometimes he got a liiiitle to carried away with being psychedelic and expressing himself, to the point that he wasn't constructing solos as amazing as they could have been

  • this isnt hendrix playing btw

  • he "did"...

  • I agree with you

  • i was hoping you were lefthanded but i guess not...

  • could you send me the tab please

  • doenst help at fucking all

  • read a tab and see his fingering thats how i use these videos

  • Just watch what he does and do it, its pretty simple.
