I'm going to start by stating, yes US cable news is shit and the network channels aren't much better.

That being said RT is (Russian) state owned media. What about them. Shouldn't there target audience be Russians? What good does it for the average Russian to know about the American mainstream media? Why would a government spend millions of dollars to support a media outlet, put it on youtube with minimal commercials (and hence minimum ad revenue). What's Russia's agenda.

And you assume there are non-trivial stories on television in the first place, but that assumes that many events/ideas are fully accurate or covered in the interest of democracy, which isn't the case. Take a huge story like 9/11. I don't believe in the conspiracy stuff, but 9/11 was ultimately used for the old ends of profit and domination.
