From the moment I saw this piece in the drama. I HAD to find the name of it. I did and searched all over for a version like this one but was unable to find one. Ahjumma's performance was absolutely EXHILARATION and this is going on my mp3. I get chills and tears well up just from listening to this! The passion she put into this piece is explosive~

If you are a cellist, you can plainly see that the faking is done pathetically...it's plain obvious, and for many of us, painfully obvious, that the actress isn't really playing. For example, she goes into high positions with a single finger only, without thumb, which is very rare for professional cellists.

@physphilmusic yeah, it is pretty obvious that a lot of these people don't play these instruments but you learn to ignore such things, after all, it's not possible to learn how to play an instrument in such a short amount of time. To my knowledge, though, some of the close-ups of the hands were those of an actual cellist and the actress learned how to "play" from her; guess she didn't do such a good job...

@physphilmusic Yeah...but what's your point? That's like saying that Tom Cruise was a pathetic fighter pilot in Top Gun. She's an actress with the job of how well she can convey her character and the story, not on how accurately she can imitate a cellist (something that a majority of viewers probably can't tell anyways.) Considering that this was a tv series with each actors only having at MOST a week or two to familiarize themselves with each episode, I would say she did a damn fine job.

there was a group of 12 - 14 year olds at a camp i went to

that played libertango

and all of the ways i've heard it... it always seems to be so.. dance like music

but when i heard these kids play it... it was with feeling and it was a dramatic peace.. not dance or romantic. It had so much... idk.. i was just amazing!

I do respect all of those who've learned and played it cause the shifting and what not. But that was something else i heard! (i play violin)

yeah the woman is doin the whole house work and no one respects her in her family and she can't do what she likes (playin the cello) but she do it secretly and her husband finds out and so on ^^

@chicostacos4 It's actually really good. You can watch "Beethoven Virus" for free in the Drama Fever site...and legally too (just in case that matters). Subbing is good to. It does have it's "depressing moments", but what makes it special is that though there are 3 main characters, they don't completely center around them. In fact, the supporting cast is just as potent and you get to really dig deep into their lives too. Like the cello player in the clip, that's just one of the sub plots

How appropriate that she is playing this piece. To me Jung Hee Yun is like a caged bird with clipped wings. She embodies the sadness and sorrow of millions of women who are perpetually stuck in the same voiceless existence. More than anything else, that was the reason why seeing her play this piece brings me to tears time and again. Without a doubt, this was one of the most powerful and poignant scene in the entire series.

A lot of Korean drama's lack the Epic feel, but this scene was so damn good. Beethoven Virus is such a great drama with a strong cast and great chemistry, which brings me back the feeling of Nodame Cantabile. One of my favorite drama's that isn't focus on Love/Romance.
