From the moment I saw this piece in the drama. I HAD to find the name of it. I did and searched all over for a version like this one but was unable to find one. Ahjumma's performance was absolutely EXHILARATION and this is going on my mp3. I get chills and tears well up just from listening to this! The passion she put into this piece is explosive~
If you are a cellist, you can plainly see that the faking is done pathetically...it's plain obvious, and for many of us, painfully obvious, that the actress isn't really playing. For example, she goes into high positions with a single finger only, without thumb, which is very rare for professional cellists.
@physphilmusic yeah, it is pretty obvious that a lot of these people don't play these instruments but you learn to ignore such things, after all, it's not possible to learn how to play an instrument in such a short amount of time. To my knowledge, though, some of the close-ups of the hands were those of an actual cellist and the actress learned how to "play" from her; guess she didn't do such a good job...
@physphilmusic Yeah...but what's your point? That's like saying that Tom Cruise was a pathetic fighter pilot in Top Gun. She's an actress with the job of how well she can convey her character and the story, not on how accurately she can imitate a cellist (something that a majority of viewers probably can't tell anyways.) Considering that this was a tv series with each actors only having at MOST a week or two to familiarize themselves with each episode, I would say she did a damn fine job.
I was so proud of her when she did her solo perfectly, I swear, I would've threw the cello at my husband's face after, what a friggin' punk. Even after she slaved for her whole family, the fcken husband still had the fcken nerve to go and cheat on her. I would've stepped on his face....aigoo
Very beautiful, thanks for posting! Another version that is worth listening to is Evgeny Suvorkin in Leiden; also very good. You can find him on YouTube when searching at:
@maxir1497 because Korean and Japanese are the most western wannabes in whole non-euro, american countries..i'm Korean too. and i have no Korean folk-traditional music CD, but have over thousand western classical music CDs. and this is very common in Korea in deed..
man. Music needs to be played with feelings and emotions. i had a really sad piece for a piano compettion but my whole family gave me shit for not practicing or at least not being able to play well. While playing, i let the sadness engulf me and guess who got first place.
there was a group of 12 - 14 year olds at a camp i went to
that played libertango
and all of the ways i've heard it... it always seems to be so.. dance like music
but when i heard these kids play it... it was with feeling and it was a dramatic peace.. not dance or romantic. It had so much... idk.. i was just amazing!
I do respect all of those who've learned and played it cause the shifting and what not. But that was something else i heard! (i play violin)
i really don't know if its sad cause i only watched till 7th episode :D but i think because its a kdrama it will be kind of sad and it wil turn to an happy end^^
yeah the woman is doin the whole house work and no one respects her in her family and she can't do what she likes (playin the cello) but she do it secretly and her husband finds out and so on ^^
@chicostacos4 It's actually really good. You can watch "Beethoven Virus" for free in the Drama Fever site...and legally too (just in case that matters). Subbing is good to. It does have it's "depressing moments", but what makes it special is that though there are 3 main characters, they don't completely center around them. In fact, the supporting cast is just as potent and you get to really dig deep into their lives too. Like the cello player in the clip, that's just one of the sub plots
I Love Piazzolla and Libertango, and I love Piazzolla's songs... ALEJANDRO ALDONZA is the best contemporany piazzolla´s singer... you can hear hem... here he is marvelous
@babydevilcm Yes mine tooo. The music is already good, plus the acting skill of this lady(which i ve seen her in alot of other drama is just awesome man!!!)This episode is officially legendary hehe
@ghanisfav Yeah, her acting skill was very impressive. Not many actors or actresses out there can actually act like they really know how to play the instrument, but she did a great job here. :)
@babydevilcm that was the actress actually playing the piece. there was a documentary taken about this drama and from what it said there, she actually learned and practiced the piece.
Beeing a musician my self, i can feel her anger, and struggle that she puts in while she is playing. Thats why i love this part so bad! if you can listen very carefully, she is trying to get her anger and everything out, just by playing the cello
The same ( but I downloaded it ^^ ) . I'd like finding this version, full and whithout the talking part; or an another one with an orchestra and a cello solo. It's the best version of Libertango to me.
How appropriate that she is playing this piece. To me Jung Hee Yun is like a caged bird with clipped wings. She embodies the sadness and sorrow of millions of women who are perpetually stuck in the same voiceless existence. More than anything else, that was the reason why seeing her play this piece brings me to tears time and again. Without a doubt, this was one of the most powerful and poignant scene in the entire series.
This scene gave me goosebumps, really. I cried so much for Jung Hee Yun and this moment I felt so happy for her. This was a really powerful and just... wonderful scene. I love it. And the music... *shivers*
see how she did her best even though she's not that good but she had the confident and the Challenge spirit
and it's amazing how they made that scene by showing us what she was going throw.. then Viewing her performance it makes my skin shudder lol XD sorry for talking too much
