I see that this review is more then a year old but thanks for doing this. I went to the author's website and also loved the book covers. Then I went to Amazon to look up some of her books and reviews and I'm definitely going to read some of her books. Please do this more often.
@Nosaltypeanut Great! I'm glad that I could influence you to check her out. You will love her books. They are classic romance and I fell in love with her writing. New videos will be posted soon. Thanks for watching! :)
Hi! I recently purchased "Two Grooms and a Wedding" by Adrianne Byrd (which is Kimani), along with numerous other selections, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I have been in grad school and have not had time to do reviews for a while...but please stay with me, I will be doing more videos soon! Thank you for watching my vids :-)
your reasons for reading her books are the same as mine. when i was a freshman in highschool i was walking in barnes and nobles and i saw Indigo the cover and it was like wow a african american historical romance gotta read it and i feel in love been reading her every since.
I have been hooked to reading Beverly Jenkins's books for 2 years and i love every singe one of them that i have picked up. i only have about 5 more of her books to read and i cant wait to get a hold on them. I TRULY HOPE that she keeps writing her stories set in both modern and historical times with her strong women characters along with her powerful lending men.
Thank you so much! You know, what I really love about Beverly Jenkins is that her books are so "classic romance". It's refreshing to see an AA author who maintains class and sophistication. I will definitely be picking this one up! thanks again!
Ms. Jenkins is a good author to study if you want to write historical romance. From a technical perspective her sentence structures is simple, direct and to the point without being wordy.
Ms. this is my last post to you. However, I like to recommend another great African American author, Tananarive Due. I recommend started with My Soul to Keep. You can also youtube her.
In addition, her historical novels are books that I have re-read. They are so enjoyable to me.
In her love scene she doen't get volgar. Sometimes, I have to re-read and visualize in my head what is going on, then I smile. She is an intellectual writer.
Her contemporary novel are good too, but they just don't hold me like her historicals. I am history buff, so that could be the reason. She is too.
Beverly Jenkins' historical novels are excellent. They are not your typical romance novels. She entertains and educates. There is realism to. The erotica is only a part of the story. I would encourage all to read her books. Believe me, she is not trash.
She always includes a bibliography of the history books she took her historical information from. She is a substantive writer. I discovered her by accident. I am completely hooked. I own all of her books.
Yes the covers are very ghetto...LOL...it's okay to say it girl! I knew you would enjoy Beverly Jenkins! All of her historical romance novels are very well written and so are the contemporary ones.
yes..love her work..no time 4 reading tho ...i do audio books... have you read E lynn harris or omar tyree
