The real problem is that most folks aren't quick witted enough to understand the real target of the satire. That statement was such a strong emotional trigger that it clouded all further understanding. Perhaps if they had made the target clearer for the average dolt it would have gone over better.

Among other parents who were literally crying on air. Was that line really necessary? The idea was funny, except they've gotta be careful.
