I remember watching this show. These networks are either going to become aware that the holy ghost is going to show up and schedule time for praise breaks OR just go into overtime. You can't rush folks praise. Dancing now...............Nooooooo, I'm not tired yet.
I'm as white as the new fallen snow too, but I think as long as one is human and able to draw breath, atheist or believer, gospel music will rock the soul.. "Rocka My Soul"..
@DavidChaseDance You are so right. I admit that it used to surprise me whenever I saw white people at gospel concerts because I didn't think that white people liked gospel music. It still surprises me sometimes, but the thing is is that gospel music isn't a black thing or a white thing, it's a Jesus Christ thing, and the sooner folks realize that, the better.
16 and had to find god for my self. Just began my journey and I ain't gonna be tired for a long time thank you god for entering in me and cleansing me
SANGGG MOTHER!!! AMENz!!! Mamma shole got that Holy Ghost Fire!!! I think the Mississippi Mass Choir is one the Largest most Anointed Southern Gospel Choirs EVER!
i am on my way back to gods with all i got and this song puts me in the right mood to run for god and i am not tired yet got to keep runnig amen glory be to god
lord thank you for mother moise burks. i live in florida trying to find the address to church where this beautiful choir sings. i have to see this choir before i die.
Maybe that's what I like so much about gospel music ... it brings back such warm memories of my childhood ... sitting around the piano with my my family & a couple guitars, & all of us singing our hearts out. Good grief, now I've gone & made myself homesick ... guess I'll have to go find some good gospel music to listen to LOL
Little kids humble & inspire me. They love, they worship, they play, they live, they believe, they trust -- they do EVERYTHING wholeheartedly without worrying about what ANYBODY thinks.
I guess that's why Jesus said, "unless you become as a little child, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven ..."
And have you ever noticed how little kids of different races play together so comfortably (at least provided they haven't yet had any narrow-minded adults fill their innocent little heads with any preconceived notions)? They usually don't even NOTICE that there's anything different. It's not until cultural stereotypes & inaccurate generalizations start to influence their thinking that prejudice is able to develop.
The reason I say this "affliction" (being uncomfortable moving one's body and/or showing one's emotions in worship) seems to get worse with age is that when I looked around the audience, I noticed all the little kids bopping to the music, dancing in their seats, and unashamedly showing off the biggest grins as they sang praise to their Lord.
For example, our church hosted the Watoto Children's Choir last year. As part of the program, they invited our conservative, primarily senior citizen congregation to stand up (gasp), clap (double gasp), and sing & dance along with them (triple gasp). I kid you not, it was one of the funniest things I had ever seen -- a bunch of stuffy old white people trying to "get down." But I will say this, they were good sports and they TRIED! :D
But as one other person commented, race doesn't really have anything to do with doing gospel "right" ... or DOES IT? I've seen/heard some exceptions to the rule, but in general, I swear us "white folk" are sometimes so doggone BORING! It's like we're afraid to MOVE ... and it seems to be a culturally learned "handicap" (inability to loosen up and feel the music) that gets worse with age.
@pharrisbaritone LOL ... I don't even know why I thought it necessary to mention being white ... I guess maybe just to acknowledge my own inadequacy when it comes to praising the Lord "good enough." I mean, it's like sometimes I just feel the Spirit welling up in my heart & soul, there's so much to thank Him & praise Him for ... and I feel so small and insignificant ...
I'm not black, but I'm sorry, there ain't no praisin' like a good gospel choir. I can't sit still in my seat. Whenever I get discouraged, I put me on some good ole gospel music (the louder the better) and praise my blues away.
@rjustnes I have to say it doesnt matter what race you are but when that gud ole gospel music hit you, it will not let you go......You better praise Him
@rjustnes I'm glad to hear that! I believe that we all should cherish ALL kinds of Gospel music, whether old or contemporary. I'm a young minister, and I LOVE Old School Gospel!!! God bless!
@rjustnes commenter you may not be a black decent but you sure as by godly got the lingo wording down pack god bless you and keep on listening to this blessin of good soul music --note: down with rap up with church music!!!
MAaaaaaaaaaan this takes me way back , back when you use to say, "we just had CHUCH!" this song makes you want to come out of the pew and pick them up and put them down, kick that one foot up in the air, snap that head back and say GLORY!!!!!
I will take traditional gospel any day over this new stuff! Im not hating on the new age, but old school gospel just has a feeling that I can't explain! No, Im not tired yet!!
Well you can! On Friday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m. The Mississippi Mass Choir will be recording their 9th album and celebrating 21 yrs of ministry at the First Baptist Church of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi entitled "Behold I Will Do A New Thing" They have 200 new members so try to attend if possible. Doors open at 6
Excellent Mother Burke and the rest of the choir. I Saw them a few months ago in Mallorca (Spain). It was a great time and I hope they come back again at the end of the year.
I can't believe the Stellaar awards finally allowed some true holy spirit in the place. I'm glad the audience got to experience a true soldier of God.
AMEN...I believe ppl get so CAUGHT up in the new school that they dont like the TRUE GOSPEL MUSIC where ppl get saved through the music and its not about FORM OR FASHION...
Mother Burke set's the standard of what worship should be! GOD BLESS HER! She and her music have got me through the hardest times! And I'm not TIRED YET!
Im 26 years old. I will NEVER be into this new school stuff. this is CHURCH! choir robes, big band, clapping hands. Mississippi Mass embodies true gospel choirs!
I appreciate your comment! I was watching "video Gospel" on BET last Sunday - and I was thinking the same thing! I want all people to praise in their own way, etc. and maybe the new stuff reaches younger people, but The Mississippi Mass Choir and many other "old school" gospel choirs is (to me) what "Gospel" IS !!!
About the attire seen here; I saw a video of the Mississippi Mass Choir with Dorothy Norwood and the choir did were the attire seen here, but the sashes were on the reverse side which the color on that side was Solid Red. On this one, the sash is seen in the Blue and White side.
