I've done a few things. I did a laser tutorial over at FanFilmForum . com based on my work on The Movie Spoof trilogy. And I worked on Pixel Corps' Shake tutorial series. In particular, the video on Shake's FilmGrain node uses a shot from this duel as an example :)
Other than that I'm not much of a teacher. I'm better at answering specific questions when asked.
Thanks :) We accomplished that effect by having Alex stand on the ground and react as if he was electrocuted, and then I roto'd him out of that shot and animated him to match my performance. If you check out my demo reel on my profile, there's a breakdown of the lightning sequence at the very end, including that particular shot.
My reel mentions and shows the software at work. I use Silhouette for roto and Apple Shake for compositing. The lightning in this was animated in After Effects and composited in Shake. We shot it on the Panasonic HVX200, with a very talented director of photography, Kyle Stebbins :)
Wow so you're serious about this. I mean all of that cost alot of money!!!!! I mean After Effects cost so much! And so does that camera! And the Shake!!!! Tell me does Apple Shake make it so that you can put backgrounds in scenes? I am inspiring to one day be able to make videos like this.
very nice. Your lightning effects were spot on as well. Never seen electricity done so well. If this was entered in a special effects contest you would likly win.

I don't know if I ever mention this but I really like your lightsabers.

Well it's better that they aren't taking down the video down completely.

You need a new soundtrack, stupid YouTube muted your ass and I can't do anything about it :(
Sexy lightsabers though... Which reminds me, you owe me something and I know you know what ;) Take your time though, they aren't urgent
BenMcEwan 3 years ago
Yeah it sucks, they muted it before I even noticed it was uploaded. You can always go download the 720p QT source file from Vimeo though ;)
And hehe, yeah, I'll get those glow ratios real soon here, while I'm not busy with any work ;)
ncaauwe 3 years ago
I've already done that ;)
And yeh thanks again for that!
