  • Here's in interesting diddy:

When I play Civilization on my XBOX 360 (not the greatest version) I noticed that in order to make my people happy and functional - I have to build churches/temples.

    Just a thought.

People need to know that this isn't the end - that their life in the next stage will suck less than it does in this one.

Thankfully - I don't subscribe to the "Try again next time" game of life.

There is only this one and it's up to us to make it the best one.

  • Let me correct you one more time. Atheists have NO belief. We're defined by the absence of belief in any religion. If you ever use a sentence like "Atheists believe..." you are incorrectly representing atheists. On the question of gods, we're waiting for the proper evidence to attain belief. The onus is on those who make the claim. It's not up to Atheists to disprove a claim for which there is no evidence.

  • why do you make a lot of videos of your hobby as an atheist?

  • You have to believe.... Your view of God and religion is a bit biased. Belief in God is a highly personal phenomenon. To debunk some fables attributed to religion doesn't really mean much to an theist. You cannot discredit Christianity and Islam because of insane acts or beliefs of extremists in those religions. Not all theists think that miracles or the ability to communicate directly with God are the foundation of their faith. Enjoy your atheism.

  • Genius friend! This is a very clever thing you've done in this video.

  • great video! haha that reminds me of a time i pissed off a guy comparing his reigilon with "Gods" of the past :)

  • you seem like a really inteligent guy, i can tell youv been searching for truth!! you want evidence for God?? Creation reveals His majesty!!! you know in your heart there is a God, otherwise it wouldnt be a big deal for u, lets face it ur a man of great faith as well!!! u believe EVERYTHING with all of the universes unimaginable complexities and order and design came from NOTHING!! if we start with NOTHING what will we end with??...... Everything??????

  • @ranchopatriot LOL the "everything from nothing" argument has been refuted sooo many times it's hilarious that people are still bringing this up. Please do a little more research on what scientists ACTUALLY believe regarding the origins of the universe. The thing is, scientists are not sure how everything got here. It's just that unlike religious people, they're not willing to make any conclusions without finding evidence.

  • Dont even start to argue. trying to not believe in christian god. think your smart. not

  • @liverpoolfc1892ynwa

Sentence fragments. making my brain hurt. think you are an idiot. stop

  • Virgin birth is doabe (is that even a word Oo)l its a mutation of a chromosome its never been witnesst on humans but has been on animals ;) (by the way i am an athist bevore you even get started)

  • @FratisNox

If so Jesus would have ended up female due to the clone-like nature of A-Sexual Reproduction ^_^

Not only that but A-Sexual Reproduction is SO FAR BACK in the human genetic time line that a mutation of that magnitude would, and almost is, unheard of

We're not talking 3rd Eye here... Im talking the difference between Mrs. Mary Christ and Bacteria! What a weird honey moon

Now if Mary was raped and to avoid being STONED TO DEATH, she lied... I could see that happening

  • @BlankPicketSign well that point is given xD

  • @FratisNox In other words virgin birth isn`t possible becauase the word "virgin" refers to female humans who have not had vaginal sex and not to micro organisms which are all the same gender. You should also know that most of the life on earth reproduces asexually, and since "asexual" means "without sex" an asexual organism can`t be a virgin, or else you are implying that they could have sex if they wanted to when in fact it is impossible. Humans are in the other group. Enough said

  • @shrikechan wrong again a virgin birth is possibel within dogs (seen it myself ) It is as said a Virgin that gives birth. The mutated chromosome actually means you need no male sperm for a reproduction ;) The only thing is and that has been pointed out jesus would have been female

  • There is an intelligence that is in a higher dimension, they can inhabit our dimension of physical reality. Call them Spirits, angels or demons. Our government world leaders & illuminati have been dealing in satanic black magic rituals, to gain power. What they don't understand is that they are selling their souls to these beings to be their slaves. It will bring them to their DEATHS. the New World Order they seek will bring DEATH to the human race. We must find the path to GOD not SATAN.

  • @JamsterGoliath

    (Chanting)

    Give Us Evidence!

    Give Us Evidence!

We need proof to see the truth!

    Give Us Evidence!

    Give Us Evidence!

We need proof to see the truth!

(Special thanks to TV Puppet Pals for their chant)

  • @JamsterGoliath Living in the first place will eventually bring DEATH. Time will gradually bring DEATH to the human race reguardless of what anyone does or doesn`t do about it. Every species goes extinct eventually. And GOD and SATAN don`t fucking exist. But I understand that all of that is nowhere near as exciting or action-packed or mysterious as the bullshit you prefer to believe.

  • How is a talking horse any more credible than a talking snake (with legs)?

  • Al-

Have you ever looked up bicameralism? It's a really interesting theory that discusses the origin of human consciousness, and how religion formed in the first place. Just seems relevant and down your alley; it states that the authors of the old testament, and other ancient texts were not even yet self aware! Anyways, great vid.

  • Comment removed

  • That makes sense

  • lol, you were thinking of biPARTISAN.

  • oh...lol

  • I agree with Richard Dawkins, who said something like "the bicameral mind is a very interesting idea even though it's most likely bogus." :)

  • It would be refreshing if Albert10110 would comment on my video proving God. I bet he could correct my logic better than has been attempted so far.

  • Nice job, Al.

Religious apologetics are a matter of personal preference. If Christianity feels right to somebody, that person will join the religion. Same with any other religion that exists.

  • 1:20 It's cyclopes, not cyclopses.

    FEAR THE GRAMMAR POLICE!

  • everyone will die after all...

    life itself doesn't make sense...

  • chaytongilmore: You know, if Santa Claus doesn't exist, that means that poor kids won't get toys no matter how good they are.

Does this mean you should be hoping that there is a Santa Claus?

This is known as the fallacy of appealing to consequences. Just because you want it to be so doesn't make it true or false.

  • BURN IN HELL THEN

  • ALSO THEN how were we made

  • You see chaytongilmore, when a man and a woman have sex, sometimes that results in a baby and that's where people come from.

  • chaytongilmore--- I've been questioning the existance of god. Using my free will. The one thing I've come to realize thus far,(right now I'm questioning the existance of the Jewish/Christian god) is that the the "after life" is what ever you make it. :)

  • There is a scientific method to walking on method.

  • time out.

there are people out there who believe god sent the 2005 tsunami to "punish the faithless"??? what kind of an all loving god is that they believe in?

    4:06 - definitely a self fulfilling prophecy!

i know you dont believe in any supernatural god, but do you follow a "natural" god, like..shopping or alcohol or smoking or food or cosmetic treatment or any other god/addiction?

  • (psalms 14:1) ''The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.''

  • Don't you think the source is a bit suspect? This is the book that also claims to be the holy word of god, so perhaps when it says it is foolish to not believe in god's existence there might be a slight bias?

Do you have any arguments to back your beliefs up? Do you even care whether or not your beliefs are true, or have evidence to support them?

I could spout a George Carlin quote about theists that is a bit more harsh than "fool", but that alone doesn't make an argument.

  • erm, wez...that strikes me as a kinda pointless thing to say to a guy who doesnt believe that the bible is true!

looks like you are trying to scare al into believing in god. i hope ur not, because that is fundamentally flawed because YOU CANT MAKE ANYONE BELIEVE IN ANYTHING!

  • Matthew 5:22

But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Guess you'll have a little explaining to do when you get up to heaven then :P

  • There's a thin line between something sounding far-fetched and something false. if you had talked to a caveman and said the earth revolves the sun, the earth is round, and we share a common ancestor with monkeys. you would had been jeered at or stabbed to death.

  • Thescotist: This is a poor analogy. You can empirically demonstrate all those things. However, if I say "I have a magically dragon in my garage" and then provide every possible excuse why you can't objectively demonstrate it, then that does sound far-fetched.

Religion only makes similar such arguments, and uses "faith" as the largest excuse for never having to produce any evidence or proof for its claims, or reasoning that is so vague that it can be used for any religious belief at all.

  • you are very logical

thanks to that tiny flesh you have inside your head..

    ..your brain.

you are a human after all.

    i am too...

    mmm...

    does it make sense?

  • Are these good arguments against christianity? well, to take them as final proof against christianity, is an unwarranted leap.

It is better to see these if these beliefs are logically consistent, or falsiable (there are many falsiable claims in theist circles if you bother to study them), rather than saying, "it sounds weird, therefore is false."

  • Again, you miss the point that I explicitly make in this video: "But what makes our ancient holy books correct and their ancient holy books wrong?" This isn't even solely against Christianity, but any religion because every religion uses arguments that could equally apply to any belief. It's not that these arguments are poor, but they're the ONLY arguments that religions put out.

Please point to where I say anything like "it sounds weird, therefore is false". The transcript is available online.

  • The same problem lies with the lack of miracles or that there many different creeds; These issues are irrelevant to wether god exists.

It's clear you're trying to be funny (which is fine), but, when the humor is coupled with such silly arguments as evidence against god, it makes you look unthoughtful, and immature.

  • Thescotist: Yes, a lack of miracles doesn't prove the nonexistence of God. Though it is suspicious that claims of miracles (which are widespread through religious believers) so often can be explained through natural phenomena. Religion has a habit of counting the hits and ignoring the misses, and claiming any coincidence as a miracle. And with only low standards of evidence and no high ones, should we be expected to believe that religion is true?

  • we don't believe in shiva, or zeus... so, that's evidence against god. This is a straw man argument, and it just asserts its conclusion. wether we believe in Kurd or Verdandi or not has no bearing on the existence of god.

You might as sensibly assert that because you don't believe in lamarckism, there's no point in believing in evolution.

  • Thescotist: I clearly present the point I was making: "But what makes our ancient holy books correct and their ancient holy books wrong?" I made this video because the arguments I see used for the existence of a religion's God could be used for any religion's God, or any supernatural belief.

Second, the analogy with Lamarckism is flawed because modern evolutionary theory does not use the same evidence that Lamarckism would use, which is why one can be false but the other still true.

  • You know there are lizards who regrow limbs, presumably even without the benefit of prayer and likely without having any belief in any gods or higher powers. Yet even people who have a very deep faith do not regrow lost limbs. It kind of makes one wonder why a god would heal a salamander's lost leg, but not grant the faithful prayer to regrow the legs of his own children, made in his own image and stuff.

  • i think you made good points and asked good questions. that said i am a Bible believing Christian and i have my self seen ppl healed and i have witnessed miracles just because you haven't seen them yourself doesn't mean that they don't happen in our world today. and just because they are not recorded in documents of recent activity in the world it doesn't mean it doesn't exsist. and i'm positive if you look for those types of things you could find videos and pictures on the internet.

  • You saw Poseidon?!?!?!?!?!

  • You speak the truth!

  • You're saying, Mr Ed is a fraud? ;_;

  • Why bother building churches and preaching and spreading the bible. There are millions of them already (not to mention a whole lot of different gods). We get it, you believe in a god.

  • lift1988: So... I'm dumb, not that that means I'm not smart.

Actually it would be much more helpful if you addressed any of the arguments I made in the video. I feel that I have several valid reasons against the existence of God, and so far you only have inconsistent name-calling.

  • I love this video. I love all your videos but this one is the best so far! *Favourited*

  • Actually the Greeks did not call the Christians heathens. They called them athiests because they denied the existence of the gods. The more mean spirited ones called them giants because they thought of them as monsters.

  • pics or it didn't happen

  • I thought that were the Romans and not the Greek.

  • The Romans stole the Greek gods and renamed many of them, but the basic ideas behind many of them stayed.

  • Yes, I know. But that doesn't change the fact that it were the Romans who called the Christians atheistic.

  • Believe it or not the cultural resistance against Christianity was actually led by Greek intellectuals living in the Roman Empire. its not like the Greeks disappeared after the Romans conquered the Balkans and Near East.

  • 5 stars.

    Subscribed.

  • Burger king didn't burger you, I did.

  • Good vid!

When I talk to Christians, their #1 reason why they reject all other religions is because they will claim "Christianity is the only religion where someone (in this case, Jesus) has risen from the dead." They don't believe the other myths that pre-date Jesus though (Mithras, Horus, etc.) that have a very similar ring to it. How does one convince them that those myths were once believed? Any advice?

  • I am christian, but I dont believe in the stories like jesus being risen from the dead. I think that all the stories taught in the bible are not real, but rather, stories that tell you how to live life. Show you morals, and how to be a good citizen.

yes I do believe in god, I don't believe in miracles.

Religion is good for explaining the unexplainable, and until all is explained in science, (and I mean every last thing) I will still be a christian.

  • Not to be rude, but isn't it impossible to be a Christian if you don't believe in the resurection?

What do you mean by religion is good for explaining the unexplainable?

  • the creation of the universe is unexplainable, so god made it, there you go explained.

I am a custom made version of Christianity.

  • Actually, there's good evidence that the first Christians Didn't believe in a physical resurrection, but that Jesus's spirit went "to god in power."

  • Hey man, I believe in Greek Mythology!!!!!!

  • could you post a version where you dont let on its a joke or simile or whatever? it really makes people think for themselves for a second, and i think thats funny.

im serious, it would be nice

  • You're incredibly hot. Hotter still that you're an atheist. Mmmmm....

  • god is as real as their being unicorns on the dark-side of the moon. how the hell do you go from roman, to greece, to egypt, and back to africa? this christian stuff is idiocy. there is no proof of god. besides if one god rises other god/goddesses will rise, it's only nature

  • albert dude, you are just more proof of how of limited the human mind can be, lol, you want evidence of god's existence? it's very simple, just take a good look around you, not enuff you say? sorry dude, there is nothing worse than a blind man that wants to be blind.

  • What are you talking about? This keyboard that I'm using to communicate with you man-made. I don't see any God in it. Look there is a kitty sitting on my monitor. Could she be the proof of God? Well, sorry. All I see is evidence and product and still on-going process of evolution. You see sunset on beach and think how beautiful it is. You must think it must be God's work. Many people have thought so for long time. But sunset is just natural phenomena explained by science.

  • Define 'Everything around you.'

Your argument is just so wrong to the point that I can also say 'look everything around you, it's Pink-unicorn's work.' And even if it's God's work, what makes it that its 'YOUR GOD' that did it? Why not Budda? Why not other Gods?

  • lol i am looking around me dude and guess what it doesnt seem like god havent u ever thought that since we evolved from this earth WE CO-EXSIST with it?? but i guess not since ur so brain washed by God created blah blah.

  • Wow, good job using the most overplayed attempt at proving God's existence, which is also the one that, on the large spectrum of things that are used to prove God's existence, does the least to actually prove anything.

(Something tells me your comment was a joke but I decided to play it safe and respond as though it's serious.)

  • *sighs* sorry i just can't snap the idiocy out of you

  • Thanks, this comment actually got a chuckle out of me. The stupidity of your comment doesn't even really need to be pointed out, but I'll do so for the hell of it.

You're calling people idiots while trying to get them to believe something with no evidence of it. None, whatsoever (other than "take a good look around you", which is as effective as saying "God exists because I say so".). Before you call someone else an idiot, try to make sure you don't look like one first.

  • any attempt in our part to measure god or try to understand him is an exercise in futility, pretty much like you trying to teach quantum physics to a dog, there are things well beyond your comprehension, learn to live with it, and the answers will follow by the grace of god. You want proof of god's existance? there is enough out there, the question is, will you be human enough to see it? or will you be another stupid calculator with no sense that wants to measure what you can't understand?

  • You still haven't answered my question. What makes those evidence (something we can't see, test, and comprehend. Something like that is not called 'evidence' but imagination. Logical evidence by definition have to be falsifiable. However, I will play along with your twisted logic.) your God's explanation?

  • One thing I've noticed about your arguments for God's existence is that you haven't actually given any real arguments. You claim evidence for God is everywhere and that we just need to look and that God is too much for us to comprehend. However, that does absolutely nothing to prove God's real. How about some actual, you know, proof?

Of course, you'll probably just insult my intelligence again for not being able to believe in something so irrational. All that does is make you look like an ass.

  • bmagana: I'm sorry, but all of your comments have either been obtuse or just plain insulting. You have repeatedly failed to explain anything, and from your profile page, other people have commented that this sort of abuse from you is persistent. I am blocking your user account because you are wasting everyone's time.

  • call me a bleeding heart liberal, but i fear that banning believers from engaging in discussion on this forum, albeit annoying, both sends the wrong message and prohibits precisely the kind of dialogue that this video is (I think) meant to inspire.

  • did you even watch the video? lol

  • I'm not sure, but I suspect bmagana is an atheist masqerading as religious in order to further discredit theism. His arguments are so clearly confused, contradictory and willfully irrational - eg saying God's existence can't be measured yet there is evidence everywhere (evidence that can't be measuered??) - that I'm wondering if he's an atheist impersonating a God botherer with a particularly low IQ for our entertainment.

  • frankwh99: Sure, it's possible. And it also possible that you are a theist with an agenda to remove one embarrassing theist and also charge atheists as being deceptive.

It's possible, but at the same time bmagana is making the EXACT same kinds of arguments that theist make (based on creationists and theologians I've heard in debates), which is why, while I still think it is possible for him to be an atheist usurper, it isn't likely.

  • Before we get into any Stalinist paranoia, I intended to highlight the irrationality of his, or indeed any defence of theism. Many believers only have to defend their views in order to expose their incoherence. I hoped to point out to bmagana that the more he expounded on theism, the more ludicrous be became.

  • Now now kiddo no need for red herring. Just becuase you have no logical explanation for God's exsitance, you don't have to be so frasturated. Next time, takes some logic 101 before making an argument.

  • Hey Al:

Thank you for expressing your beliefs. (DISCLAIMER follows: I try to follow the teachings of Christianity).

A theme I see is your need for "compelling evidence." As you get older (and wiser) you will find that your beliefs will change. You may even find some evidence. You have probably heard "there are no atheist in foxholes." Well I have found there are no atheist either in prisons, etc. volunteering/helping. To find evidence you must go the scene of the crime. All the best, man.

  • part380: My favorite of the ad hominem arguments: "Well, maybe you'll change your mind when your older." or "I use to think that too when I was your age."

You completely ignore all the people older than you who hold opposite beliefs while dishing out condescension instead of an argument.

  • part380: Examples of atheists/agnostics in foxholes or as philanthropists are then ignored (which are not insignificant either, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates make up the largest foundations on the planet).

Also ignored is the idea that the "foxholes" argument is an indictment against religion, as it implies that religion stems from a fear of death more than actual truth. It seems to say, "Religion is true because we want it to be true, not because it is true."

    I disagree across the board.

  • Atheists are not as right as they think they are, so the focus on revealed religion, wich is quite easy to attack, because, no doubt revealed religion is nonsense.

However, atheists who think that materialism explains everything are just as confused as their theistic cousins.

  • verymaddog: You seem to be saying that atheists only attack straw men when it comes to God (because, "no doubt revealed religion is nonsense")

What topics do you think atheists should take on? How are atheists "confused"?

  • you have said so much that i meant. thank you for giving voice to reason.

  • 5:14-5:17... because Jesus was a real person who was sent by God, died for our sins, and ressurrected evidently to many people.

And think about it, about 2.1 billion people in the world are Christians. That's 1/3 of the world's total population. And think about the time of Jesus (since it seems like you obviously dont have a clue behind Christianity and history). Jesus lived during the time of the Roman Empire. Many people Romans especially thought Cesar was God. BUT NO. Jesus has carried on.

  • looks like someone wasnt paying close attention

  • There is little evidence for a real Jesus. And none for a 'son of God'.

Your ad populum argument is a logical fallacy. a billion children believe in Santa Clause, that is not good evidence for his existence.

And the idea of vicarious redemption through human sacrifice is abhorrent to me. But hey, thats just my values, ethics and moral code talking.

  • You refer to the christian bible to prove that a messiah character was real and sent from a creator force?

That is circular and holds no basal evidence.

  • right on man!! WE Atheists need well-spoken people like you. no one who bashes you in these comments can refute one thing you say.. KEEP IT UP!

  • dont diminish people because of their beliefs, if you are atheist, ok, now let the people who are religious live ok. Religion IS!!! history as well, the world we live in is founded on religion. (i am not religious, i just know the values)

  • "i am not religious, i just know the values"

ME TOO!! And I want nothing to do with those values. Like vicarious redemption through bloody human sacrifice comes to mind.

  • I can see God's face everywhere.

  • you don't have to believe in all the greek gods, you can believe only in poseidon, maybe the greeks were right about poseidon hymself but wrong about everything else....it makes sense (a little)

  • Yeah, good point. Nothings going to knock them off that pure white, alabaster pedestal though.

  • Just watch the Day you Atheist die see what happens

    Your be crying for Jesus.

and saying i should of went to church

but none of your people ever listen to me

hurry it will be too late.

  • And Heaven is full of this?

  • How Christian of you to point at the splinter in Al's eye (and mine). It's so great to see that you judge against the teaching of your own myths.

  • Hahaha!! Very good christian imitation.

"Woah!! Poseidon! Haha! I'm talking about the christian god! You know, the real one."

  • How dare you mock my All knowing sea-god!

    hehehe.

    Great video!

  • Strong bad poster over there, in the back! \o/

  • agree

  • I like Jesus too, I also think Neo is pretty cool.

  • I'm an Atheist because I DID read The Bible. I read it every so often to reaffirm this belief.

  • I read it too. I was Christian. Its all the extra baggage that got me. I felt selfish, was i really going to believe my family would burn in hel just so I could live in heaven? Fuck that.

Dont you think your faith in such a broad belief system is dangerous? eg, is the reason you believe gays are specifically sinful because the bible says so?

If the bible is the word of god then fair enough, but why have faith it is; it just seems so arbitary; why not have faith it isnt? Its just as logical.

  • That is the point... faith and logic do not mix well together. In fact they are the complete opposite.

  • How can you disbelieve every other religion that ever existed unless you've read all their scriptures? Why not have faith in them?

  • Well, there's also the use of BCE and CE, used repsectivly to BC and AD. It's what I (and many other people) like to use.

  • Ever heard the theists say read the bible, Atheists can put excellent arguments but theists ignore these, they cannot dismiss the bible. ie. many believes of the bible are ignorant to the contents within apart from the selected text that's preached to them.

eg: world is 6000 yrs not 4.6million yrs old calculated by Ussher.

eg: Adam lived to 930 yrs & Mosses similar age

eg: Mary was 13years old expecting jesus

eg: Birth of jesus was 4BC

eg: Noah's Flood was local to Nile not whole world.

  • 4.6 billion years, actually. Sorry, I'm quite anal about these things :p

  • 4.55 billions years. :P

  • I did not think they knew precisely because the surface of the earth was still molten. But they can guess based on the oldest rocks.

NOVA: origins, goes in to it. Kind of a cool episode.

  • damn

  • nice vid

  • "Because the greeks labelled the Gods and creatures as MYTHS..."

The Ancient Greek use of the word "mythos" was NOT the same as the modern ENGLISH word "myth". The Greek word simply meant "story", and did not imply degree of credibility.

  • "You have very rational reasons to doubt God, but on the other side of the coin, what makes a creation?"

Depends on what you call "creation". Snow flakes and crystals are amazing to us to behold, yet is there a "creator" behind them, other than natural processes? How do you know that something is, indeed, a creation?

  • It isn't faith if what you believe, you believe because it has satisfied your demand for the evidence of its proof.

  • CHALLENGE TO CHRISTIANS:

If you can read this page right to the bottom:

    godisimaginary[dot]com/i7.htm

And not have a new perspective on your faith, then I would dearly like to hear your reasons as they may cause me to accept Jesus.

  • Christians always refer to that passage in the bible that says only through Jesus can you enter the kingdom of heaven and therefore there religion is the right one. This kinds of frustrates me sometimes, although I don't really go further explain because I'm not one of those atheist who are good with words. My question is do you know an example from mythology type literature such as greek where it says theirs is the right one? Or maybe in one of those really old non-existing religions anymore?

  • Outstanding, Al! I really enjoyed this!!!...a must save to Favorites.

(from: a fellow atheist from north Texas)
