I like how people can't make the difference between art and nothing more than a graphical thematic. There's almost no game in Flower, so how the heck can this be gaming art? If there should be art somewhere, it's in what video games do best : interaction. Obviously the more refined and complex the level of interaction, the more artful a game would be. People just don't get what art in video games means. As long as they don't get it, video games will always be dragged down.
The idea is good but the "game" is very weak. The most laughable part of this is that it took them 13 damn prototypes to achieve, and almost two years of work in a team of 6~7 people. Yeah, don't laugh.
That kind of application has more its place in a random artsy museum than on a console. It will take a lot of work for gamers to understand that this is not video game art. It's an interesting interactive event, that is all.
At 3:50 of 1RnF8ir56O0, the player in level 6 is so clueless about what to do that he goes around the sort of tower without noticing that he already picked the stuff that he had to pick. And look at the depth of interactions, mechanics and goals that far in the non-game; you're still pushing your fart through petals and scraped metal and that's all, triggering some effeminate tunes.
It's not a game made by geniuses, but made by uninspired pretentious people. 2 years of dev for THAT! It's a joke.
The levels are dreams of plants. There is a story, though it isn't that special in words, the strengt lies in the visuals of it.
Gameplay: You control a leaf. You fly over flowers and those will a add another leaf to control. There are flowers you must fly over to progress but there are also hidden ones. There are different scenarios such as the windmills and later on avoiding certain objects, or painting the ground with your stream of flowers.
For all those bashing this game because it's different, grab yourself a bag of weed, play this game for half an hour, and then try and think of one bad thing to say about it.

You are the wind, and you collet petals to progress. later in the game, you will have to use it to bring dying plants and fields back to life and rejvinate the area. the game isnt your conventional kind of game, basicly it was made for relaxing purposes, and beleive me, this game will get you really calm. i would recommend it after work or if you are really mad or sad for some reason.

I find it funny that they made a game that is almost literally about "watching grass grow" and yet it looks this cool. If I had a PS3 I'd get this.
I also find it funny how so many people are confused by what the objective of this game is. If we don't have a clear mission then what's the point, right?
Video games are all about doing stuff we can't actually do in real life. Some days I want to shoot aliens; other days I'd like to just fly on the wind.
The game exploits the tension between urban bustle and natural serenity. Players accumulate flower petals as the onscreen world swings between the pastoral and the chaotic. Like in the real world, everything you pick up causes the environment to change. And hopefully by the end of the journey, you change a little as well.
I actually just got this game and tried it. Absolutely beautiful! As the developers said, the best way to describe it would be a poem in video game form. And I never really got what they were trying to say by that until I played.
Oh and before you jump all over me about liking this, remember that I can still kick your ass in a fighting game too.

You are the wind, and you collet petals to progress. later in the game, you will have to use it to bring dying plants and fields back to life and rejvinate the area. the game isnt your conventional kind of game, basicly it was made for relaxing purposes, and beleive me, this game will get you really calm. i would recommend it after work or if you are really mad or sad for some reason.

I find it funny that they made a game that is almost literally about "watching grass grow" and yet it looks this cool. If I had a PS3 I'd get this.
I also find it funny how so many people are confused by what the objective of this game is. If we don't have a clear mission then what's the point, right?
Video games are all about doing stuff we can't actually do in real life. Some days I want to shoot aliens; other days I'd like to just fly on the wind.

The game exploits the tension between urban bustle and natural serenity. Players accumulate flower petals as the onscreen world swings between the pastoral and the chaotic. Like in the real world, everything you pick up causes the environment to change. And hopefully by the end of the journey, you change a little as well.

I actually just got this game and tried it. Absolutely beautiful! As the developers said, the best way to describe it would be a poem in video game form. And I never really got what they were trying to say by that until I played.
Oh and before you jump all over me about liking this, remember that I can still kick your ass in a fighting game too.
