Mawlid doesn't go against the Qur'an or Sunnah. Every Bid'ah doesn't belong in Hell. Did you know the dots in the Qur'an were not present at the time of the Prophet? Do you say that belong in Hell?

Being from this region in ethiopia and a muslim and i speak for all ethiopian muslims that in mawlid, we do not practice nor condone the worship of the prophet muhammed. Allah is only deserving of worship.

Ethiopia having many ties with the spread of Islam ever since the prophet times have had this traditional celebration pass down for countless generations and remains just as a celebration for prophet muhammed.

Celebrating the birth of the Prophet is indeed a biddah. However, it is a biddah hasana and it is something that is not haram to engage in if the actions practiced are not haram (reciting Quran, reading the nasheed are all fine). Only the Wahhabis do not allow it because they are misguided.

The only thing the prophet (saw) used to do and recommend to do in "celebration" of his birthday is to fast on Mondays. InshaAllah we as muslims can just stick to doing this instead adding to the deen.

MashaAllah. SubhanAllah, how Allah shows us the beauty of different cultures by allowing us to celebrate the birth of His beloved. Then reward us for doing so.

In Melbourne, Australia, the Ethiopian Muslims organised a Mawlid gathering, may Allah reward them for inviting me. It was beautiful, full of life.

It is good to see that Islam can spread in countries without destroying people's way of life.

May Allah increase such gatherings around the world. Ameen ya Robi, ameen.

i consider this zikr which praises allah and the prophet (pbuh) a traditional and true islam. But ofcourse this is not wahabi like yours i guess. one can tell a wahabi by their views of judging others and their hate. may allah guide you to love than hate
