Did you catch roy jones post calzaghe fight it was a total doination from round one both resulting in TKO so silva is barely a ok boxer hes a great ufc fighter but no chance against jone Julio cesar is no comparison to jones at all. Jones will dominate a boxing match
Silva is one of the greatest mma fighters of all time but not good enuff for Roy Jones jr in a boxing match....but you know money might make that fight happen
Actually most MMA fighters have a wrestling background. They learn to punch... but of course that doesn't put them at a boxers level. No top boxer has ever compete in MMA... too much money in boxing if they are good. Even this guy Silva beat has never won a pro match... this was his only fight.
@JoedirtMike True - not many pure boxers went to MMA, probably cause of the money. But many have boxing backgrounds (Jamie VArner springs to mind) and many more have kick-boxing backgrounds (having spent almost as much time working on their boxing as many pro-boxers).
Also, it's not clear that boxing technique would even transfer to a boxing-situation in MMA that well. With the smaller gloves and the threat of getting taken down (amongst other things) alot of technique/strategy is different.
@Itsnattatooma Although they have boxing experience none of them would be top ten level. But I do agree about the changeover... I think some boxing styles would transfer over more successfully than others. The counter stick and move would do much better than the duck and charge! The duck and charge would probably eat some knees. I think a top boxer could cross train and do well though, everyone makes a big deal out of a pure boxer in mma but never a pure wrestler or jj guy.
A boxer would not last in a MMA match. A Mixed Martial Artist would not last in a boxing match. They're 2 completely different sports. The only thing they have in common is they are "fighting".
A soccer player would not last in a basketball game. A basketball player would not last in a soccer game. The only thing they have in common is they use a "ball".
@rnizio1 not really considering anderson silva is in UFC and alot of boxers do go to the ufc they just learn wrestling they're not completely different at all
@rnizio1 Hey douche this fight is a Sham. Julio Cesar isnt a boxer, he came into this fight with a 0-0 record never fought in a boxing match before and after this loss never fought again .Silva got his ass knocked out back in 1998 in his only other boxing match so he's a failed boxer that ran over to MMA know your facts
he was swinging like 70's foreman & that was a nice ass on the ring girl

If we're talking strictly about boxing, Roy Jones will KO SIlva in one or two rounds, no more than that!!

I don't get why people still want anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr to fight in a boxing match. Jones would destroy him not if,ands or buts.

this was that guys first fight you idiot. Anderson has much more experience than that loser. There are no good Brazilian boxers right now.
