Great Yngwie...you will ALWAYS be the best, the most melodic guitar player ever, the musician that influenced guitarists all over the world, the man that turns leaders to followers. This is one of the best songs ever, one of my favourites.
back in the 80's me and a friend followed his tour for three strait nights, the guy is a genius with HIS notes, and remember will never to be heard as we did, better catchem when you can, will enlighten your life forever, has me, an ol school rocker in N. Cal.
This is a beautiful song . It reminds of my hard times in the past and also helps me forget . And HEll yeah . playing guitar takes me to the top of the world
@thehomelessman yeah, he uses there souls and shouts at his guitar and thats how he got his skill. shouts and gets increased music by 100 for 1 year duration.
Yngwie = GOD! no other man has an audience staring at his fretwork in disbelief. I saw him live and met the band. One of the GREATESTS of our time people. We lose many metal legends (Dio, Moore) and we dont appreciate enough what they write for our entertainment.
irony: YJM is one of the most soulful players out there - when he decides to do it. his blues feel/phrasing is freaking amazing. under-rated (as are his ears - you musicians know what i'm talking about). blues line at 4:28 - 4:32 is short but damn! bluesy, soulful, original. all hail Ynwie!
I know I'm not alone in saying that i really like the idea of "Classical" ideas in a modern Rock context, why not? Mr Malmsteen has probably guided a lot of people to check out Classical music as well, good on him!
This is in my opinion some of his best playing. Another notable mention is Black star. Usually alot of his playing is just shredding scales and modes, but with this one you can feel the passion and tears sliding from his strings. I myself have been playing for about 24 years,so other musicians know what I am talking about.
This is not half bad, I dare say. But after this album, Yngwie started writing the same things over and over again and calling it genius when it was just rehashing. Mark Boals was annoying as hell on the mike, too. Jeff Scott Soto blew him away! But it's nice to hear an 80s metal song where you can hear the bass for once, too.
@KamenRiderNecro yup...first couple Malmsteen albums blew me away, I couldn't believe how good they were. Then I check out the later albums and it's like what the hell happened? I kinda wish he would have stuck to instrumentals. There's something about getting a for-hire-singer, you can tell there's no passion. It's like a random studio musician, not a real character or personality you get to know. Just a guy reading lyrics someone already wrote
@csplendrig And Malmsteen himself and many of his fans would be screaming at us in outrage right now...screw 'em for not being more objective, I say.
I remember the dudes who walked around with this t-shirt when it came out. I was 10 and wanted to be just like them.........feathered hair and high-tops for me!!!!!
I remember when I bought this LP with my best friend together short after it appeared in Germany in 1986. It was his favourite song, as it was mine, too. Two month ago he died on cancer. To hear it on youtube it makes me "crying", Thanks a lot for uploading
Little known fact : Yngwie's Mother was in the recording studio when this was being done. She told Yngwie why don't you call it Michaelangelo Yngwie said he felt that his Guitar sounded like it was Crying and that is how this Song came to be.
This song is to me Yngwies best work, it's sad and makes me melancholic, thinking back on my childhood. Strange that it doesn't have more views.

Malmsteen's own brand of unabashedly melodic, heartfelt, emotional, and heavy music.
It is impossible for even the most jaded critic to deny his sincerity.
