  • Always my favourite song from "A Beard od Stars".

  • 좋다...

  • Oh what beautiful, beautiful melody. Only the lyrics beg for a translation into Druid.

  • If the Druids made music it would have sounded like this.

  • Marc sounds just like an immortal wizard.

  • great lyrics

  • cool

  • I want to say if you have a little Marc in your heart you must be a good person. We understand that Marc was magic, we know what we had, and lost, and now miss.

  • beauiful, perfect, never to be forgotten, true genius.. i love you x

  • 2010 still Rocks. R.I.P. marc.

  • its hard listening to this again after all these years. it still hurts when i think about the tragic way he left us..nobody can touch my heart in the way marc can and always could..pure magic !!!

  • Critics say the Beatles " paved "the road for modern rock. If so.

Marc Bolan planted trees and flowers allarounf it.

When I play he's music today to teensters they are awe struck that the music is from four decades ago.

That is pure magic my friends.

Sing Marc sing it is holding us together.

  • hi ? bloody nice words xxxxxxxxx

  • @reditch Gave me goosebumps...v 3

  • Look inside yourself and you will find the most magical time in your life was your childhood.

So it was for Marc.... And he got to share it with all of us.

  • well said reditch

  • I would love for someone with better knowledge of music than me to describe what was so magical about Marc's music, especially pre-T. Rex. Partly it's the fairy-tale universe, partly the way his melodies communicate an ancient world of pageantry, chivalry, mythical landscapes and beings. But there's also this nascent rock sensibility that he was also into and that creeps into most songs.

  • Not all of his songs were that way, though. Many of my favorites are the songs where he is just throwing words at a tune that is amazing. But, I would suggest never saying you want someone to tell you about "why" something is good if you like it...they will always go back to the beatles :)

  • I think you answered your own question.

  • These lyrics just work for me entirely sober. Absolute music.

  • p.s. this is when he was transitioning into the more electric format but this still retains much of the hippie/folk feel of his earlier work

  • One of my favourites. I know that Steve was heavily into drugs but I think Marc really only got into them in the later incarnation of T-Rex. He was just naturally an incredibly offbeat thinker, and said it was as if his ideas came from an outside source. I was a hippie as a kid too without being into drugs at all. The lyrics read like nonsense but sound beautiful sung by him. He had such a memorable vocal style.

  • I agree totally with ur last two sentences. This song, as well as a few others from this era, make me think that there is a real ARTIST at work here.

  • Marc Bolan was very well read indeed, especially in mythology. This beautiful song sounds like it belongs on Unicorn, but it appeared on the following album.

  • Great lsd/cannibis music......from long ago. But boy is it weird otherwise.

  • someone should make a movie based on these lyrics....

  • THE INIMITABLE Stephen Fry is making a film of "Dandy in the Underworld"...but that's a bit different.

  • When the great apple falls

She'll be queen of your halls!

  • I have Beard of Stars on vinyl.

  • No way, how'd you manage that?

  • Nearly brings me to tears. Mystic genius.

  • 'Mystic genius' right on!!! Bolan songs like this take my mind into a mystical land I wish I could live in forever.

  • marc...ure the king of my heart.......u always will be........xx deborah xxx

  • Is this Bolan's most heart-breaking melody? It tears me up! Thank you for posting.

  • Yes, it is! But it's got a lot of competition, above all from "Highway Knees."

  • So Mega, these songs are so preciouse. What was he thinking about, no one like him.

  • Love this song. Thanks!

  • ... magic.

  • As I enjoy, I think Marc would have produced another few thousand songs, that I know, he was a natural minstrel.

  • I forgot how pretty this song is. I have not heard it since I was in my twenties. Loved it then, love it now.

  • we all agree then, beautiful song! thank you for this track (sadly I don't own ANY Tyrannosaurus Rex yet :( )

  • Its all perfect - the early stuff was pure magic & worth collecting. hearing this again has put a chill down my spine.

  • Tyrannosaurus Rex is what Marc was really about - T.Rex was just twelve bar blues and doo wop (though it was mind blowing)

  • Get it on, mate. It's all better than the pop stuff

  • mmmmmm lovely......tanx for posting!!!

  • a gem, keep the memory alive. tanx.

  • Such a sweet song

  • simply beautiful

    Delf and Kaz x
