I can c that ur father woz an incredible man and i think thats something u must get from him as ur r an incredible man as well, he woz certainly very charming and i can c how proud he is of u!!! :)
yes chris I feel the same way, I lost my dad four years ago, I can relate to how special they are and how important it is to listen to what they had to tell us and to appreciate their accomplishments. Im very proud of my dad I know you are also.
This is what makes you the perfect choice for a show with children psychics, you brought tears to my eyes with your compasion and understanding, which they need. I don't know about mom but im going in two days back to visit mine, I cherish every moment
you had a great dad, i can tell even though i never knew him. and so great of you to look after him and spend time with him. hearty condolences all the way from russia,
I wish I'd known about these clips before the New York Times piece; I'd have dropped Reggie a line. What amused me in these clips was the matter-of-fact, almost objective and neutral, way he talked of his hockey fights--basically, "I didn't like what he did, he didn't like what I did" What touched me was the deep affection so evident between father and son. Again, condolences to all who knew and loved Reggie and to all those who, like me, loved to watch him play.
After viewing all eight clips (I left another comment on the first), it's plain that Reggie remained as tough as ever. He might not have been able to walk, his memory might have faltered, but his spirit stayed remarkably strong. I hope I have some of the mental strength he exhibited as I deal with my own pretty serious ailments. Well done to Reggie for a life well-lived.
I watched Reggie Fleming play for the Rangers in the late 60's and read his tribute in the New York Times hockey blog. This was a terrific series of interviews, quite heartfelt. My father is in the same boat in a nursing home facility with Parkinson's and dementia. We tried interviewing him about his WWII experiences but the inability to remember much was too frustrating for him so we quit.
I wish I had the opportunity to have me him, but I am thankful that I found your videos of him and feel like I did.. I'm glad that I included a brief write up and photo of him in my 2004 book Hockey in Rochester: The Americans' Tradition. Your Dad played 70 games with the Americans (AHL) in 1958-59 as a defenseman while he was Montreal (NHL) property. I sent a color photo of him with Rochester to the team for their website. With sympathy, Blaise Lamphier
I am sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I also got in a fight with your father when he was teaching at the Arlington Ice Spectrum hockey school. He was kidding around with me but I will always remember his eyes and short temper. He had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed watching your videos. They were well put together. I am sorry for your loss. I live in the area so you want to discuss this more let me know.
LOL that was so cool footage! Your father is a fighter indeed! I tried to watch hockey one time because I had dated a hockey player but they seem so brutal. But the game seems fun! Chris, thank you for sharing this with us :-)
:) "you lost that one" lol he's funny. I'll bet your proud of him, i know i would be! What a sweetie, I just wanna hug him but he might punch me hehe! Nice memories to have recorded of him!
Your Dad rocks Chris! I work in skilled and assisted living and so many are not in a good place in there heads like your father. For the condition he is in, he still has a great outlook on his life. Your a good son Chris. Thank you for being there for him.
Wow... your dad is funny Chris, i love how he still has his sense of humour no matter what, it's lovely to see how much you both love and care for each other!
