  • Fast fibers - all things being equal, bigger muscles are stronger muscles. How many fast fibers you have isn't important. Just like a small fast fiber contracts less force than the bigger fast fiber. Improving it at a ratio in fiber size is the reality of it. Let's say you have 50% slow twitch and 50% fast twitch @ 18 inch quads. You've increased it to 24 inches, now you'll have 80% pure fast twitch and bigger stronger sized and only 20% slow twitch which are the ones that doesn't grow at all.

  • Being a weak athlete who squats 120 pounds @ 120 body weight and able to generate almost all (120 pounds of force) in vertical is no where near athlete who squats 405 @ 180 BW and only use 80 % of it @ average CNS. See? Even beginners @ lifting heavy weights can recruit 80 % fibers @ max squat = not genetics. All things of the advantages above, will not get you to upper to mid 30's vertical(not running) specially @ training incorrectly at higher volumes like, it will lead u astray.

  • i have a natural 35+ vertical

  • You're just shitting. No such thing as genetics in jumping. Fast twitch, CNS, structure, reaction, all these will constant.

Structure - every tendons in your body accounts to reactive ability not just your Achilles which is solely bone structure. Your muscles do contain elastic qualities via contraction (lengthening of the muscles).

CNS - You can perform strength by having an efficiency at the movement but those things will not transfer to any activities just like

    (continued...)

  • i hve a 29" natural and im white

  • No. You don't have to use the term "natural. Even an obese nigger would have 1 inch vert base on physique(not genetics) even though he could have lots of fast fibers, I already cite it wasn't the case and do you know ho has the highest amounts of fast fibers? It's couch potatoes!

  • i wish i had been blessed with a 35 inch vertical, but sadly no, I worked my way up to a 22 inch vertical from a few inches off the ground.

  • love ur videos

  • "coach" for all the talk u do, i havent seen a video of u dunkin nor have been convinced by ur expensive workout that your selling. no offense but thats just my opinion. i have gained bout 4-5 inches in 7 weeks doing air alert. i think im gonna stick to it. one thing i will give u props is the fact that u stress the importance of stretching.

  • my trainer at my high-school trains a lot like you. He's more focused on running than you, but trains jumping the somewhat the same way. you know what your talkin about, good work

  • Right. Michael jordan is not gifted dunker. What you've seen came from hours of work. and even the pros you've mention, they worked. They are not natural. I still don't understand naturalism because i myself could get astounding leaps very soon in my life just doing plyos. I'm not talking shit i know how i've experienced it and i'm witnessing the beginning of my non stop progress. i've done air alert.

  • and then there are those who are gifted and work

  • thanx coach for sharing with us all your videos

  • alot of these guys work on their jumping. but they just dont tell anybody.

  • exactly

  • hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard

  • keep it up, I enjoy learning from your intellectual output of vertical leaping XD

  • thanks coach all ur vids really help

  • wow, coach hearing you talk motivates me to strech and be healthy.

  • Great Coaching not just this video all good
