to the youngsters, i think you make some valid points actually, the big reason we all loved the ninties was indeed of those little pills they called ecxtacy!! those wee things kept you up all night with legendery energy levels, not only that but music sounds about 100 better when your minced, raves of the early 90's and then the house and trance of later days are testiment to this. Pills combined with the music were an amazing experience, the physcological effects i think, brought an end to it.

Perhaps the whole scene was better in the early 90s (as everyone appeared to be completely fucked of their faces and able to come together in a way not experienced since the late 60s) but the actual music and style improved greatly towards the end.

Shit, we've lost quite a special form of music (because honestly, modern trance is unspeakably bland and produced by people who've never touched drugs stronger than Red Bull and Sherbert Dib Dabs or had any kind of spiritual connection their music). Afraid you'll need to travel to places like Goa and Russia to find real trance at raves.
