@vampire26knight Sorry, it was written way before Air Supply existed by Pete Hamm and Tommy Evans of Badfinger, then Harry Nilsson did the definitive version in the early 70's. Nobody can touch his version, though Pete Hamm's singing on the first half of the original by Badfinger is beautiful too. All three of them are dead now, lots of tragedy there, but great music too, check them out.

They performed Feb 26 in Tacoma WA - great show, the only time they come to WA this year, the place was packed. Love all the songs they perform, they bring out so much emotion and the songs are beautiful to listen to. Love Hitchcock's voice. Hope I get to see them perform again next year.

For the record even though Badfinger created the song and Nilson Covered the song with modifications, every cover since then has been of Nilsons version NOT Badfingers so he does deserve credit as it did hit #1 on the billboards, sometimes it is the arrangement. To me Nilson's version still the best.

I first heard this song as a child as my mother was a fan of Air Supply, I heard it covered by Mariah Carey on her live MTV album and it was very well done and I later found out that Badfinger wrote it. I have since heard the Badfinger version and the Nilson version and here is my take on this. Badfinger wrote and has the original Rock version but the arrangement and change in runs that Nilson did making it a power balad with one of the HARDEST notes to hit was and still is amazing.
