The tuning definately seems to be in open D. trying to figure out placement just by watching this video. Just getting the first chord right seems to be my challenge, after that it seems he has very similar shapes down the neck. If anyone can help out I'd really appreciate it. This song is just too good to avoid covering it correctly. The common G, Em, D, C is getting boring to play.
he reminds me of justin currie, in the way that they write very emotive music and are hugely talented yet dont get the air play they deserve because record companys dont push them as they push the latest re-hash of a boy/girl band who after 1 or 2 hits vanish when everyone realises they have no talent.

As a retired drug and alcohol counselor, this song speaks to me of a woman on the mean streets of Vancouver (with No Money or means to get a cheap hotel room) and she has no idea what to do with the next day, never mind the next week.
All the tabs out there says you should have capo on 4th fret but he ain't using it here. Could someone PM me with the tabs he is using to play the version in this video?
I've seen Ellis perform this many times, he is one of the best performers anybody would want to see (He just returned from the UK, all shows sold out), I urge anybody who has the chance to see him to do it!!! I've actually sat and talked with him, he is also very intertaining to talk to as well.
Does anybody know the tabs for this song? As he plays it in this video
or at least the chords he uses? nobody plays this song accurately as ellis plays it here and in the recorded version. Id really love to play this at a campfire with my all buddies :D
he is. thats why he has songs in movie sountracks (me myself and irene), plays about 300 dates a year, has won the boston area music awards about 10 times now...he's doing just fine in the love department id say.
Its all about image. Lyrically speakin the dudes got it. As for being marketable, maybe not. Sad thats how it is. Bob Seger for example, amazing musician, had he come along now, instead of the 60's 70's 80's nobody would know his name.
Damn, I never knew he came to C-Town...I wish I was there...

This song has picked me up SOO many times when I'm feeling low. It's hard to believe I heard it first in "Me Myself and Irene" xD

if you go to his website, you can purchase the guitar tab for $1.79. Not a bad deal for the correct arrangement...

I wish people who didn't follow Ellis Paul...would.
he's such a great songwriter and likable guy.
"The World Ain't Slowin' Down" and "Bring Me Backward" are enough to make Ellis Paul a star...if people would just give him a chance.
