i am an amateur (and not long-time) drummer. i think i know what he does for this fill. but i wondered if someone who is sure of himself can explain in words what he is doing here. basically, he is doing a "ruff" double hit on the base between each strike of his right hand? although it looks like when he goes from the high tom to the snare, there is less time between those strikes, so mayabe he does only 1 or no bass hits between those strikes? please help!

For what it's worth, Jerry did not play a double bass pedal. Also, he mostly played this fill one-handed because he could and he thought it was pretty funny. Even in death that dude still makes me laugh.

I went to high school and university w/ this guy, and he lived in my neighborhood-- used to walk past his house and he was *always* drumming. One word to describe him-- PROLIFIC......IN HIGH SCHOOL! He was amazing then, I can only imagine how good he was in the end.

Just found out today, almost a year later... sad day... the world was robbed of a great kat. So long buddy. :(

Didn't know the drummer's name, or that it was even the same guy in both bands, but was highly impressed by the drumming both times. I remember in 92 when he got his Slingerland Soprano snare, getting it as tight as he possibly could, his first Wuhan China boy - when he first started putting it vertical, he and I going to see bands nobody else in Atlanta knew about, scouring the used bins at Titan comics, blah blah blah. I followed his career after Atlanta and am proud that he did what he wanted with life and kept it real.

it looks crazier than it actually is. it's pretty simple from a drummers standpoint, it's using the bass drum for most of the notes that "sound insane" and then the one hand is just hitting quarter notes throughout the kit!
