  • chambered reissue= oximoron

  • deffintally great guitars but still not worth the price.. the reissues are pretty close just dont have the aged sound

  • The '59 is an absolute beast. Great playing. Dig the enthusiasm too!

  • I thought at first the link said moldy guitars.com

  • Im so fucking jealous.... most people dont know this... but if those two guitars belong to the guy on the right, the guy is already worth $1million. Holymotherfuckinshit.

  • why do you jerks have to ruin the damn video with the comments? long story short, he has 'em.....you don't....let him enjoy the damn thing!!! you don't like him don't watch!!!! GEEEEZE!!!

  • I wonder how long he's had those two bursts... I couldn't tell the two apart tone wise. Nice!

  • a goldtop burst 'hmm'

  • ....great playing....

  • Dude on the right.... Chill out

  • @CoverGuitarSongs well my friend an excessive dose of good blues and good Pauls can cause that.. ;)

  • Didn't your mother teach you, if you don't have anything good to say......Say nothing at all. Great quote man, My bitch of a wife's mother didn't know that one.

  • good stuff fellas

  • Ignore the nay sayers nice playing guys!!!!!!!

  • i hear some duane allman licks in there

  • Great lead tone, I'm curious how that Goldtop would sound on the lead.

  • Would rather see Marshalls...and hear them too.

  • This is really good. love this! great comparison!

  • i like this piece of music, it's smooth and cool

  • yawn give me the fuckin guitars i'll show you

  • @outtacastatv wow your cool, just because someone doesnt play judas priest or slayer shit makes them not good?

  • @outtacastatv yeah i'm sure your power chords are very exciting.

  • @beefcakebronze yeah wotever u borin cocksmoker

  • @outtacastatv Agree with everyone else. this is real music and real talent. lets see you do anything better than this. these are the greatest guitars ever built and they are meant for real players. you dont deserve to even look at this video

  • @NuclearSLaYer47 wow so ur saying i'm no good and you have not seen me play, think about that, how closed minded.

if i dont like these players thats my right ive watched and commrnted but you have not seen and you comment what a fuckin cunt you are

  • this music is way too boring for this old guy to be moving like that. I think he wants to think this video is a lot better than it really is.

  • i like the 1959...;-)

  • sure wish he was facing the camera more so we could see that burst better

  • the 59 sounds terrible (must be because its older and everybody knows IBANEZ RULEZ!!!) it sounds so bad that really you shouldnt be playing it,,,so,,,,,, you should just give it to me and Ill do my best to appreciate its qualities ,Im serious you should just throw it out and get rid of it and Im WILLING to take it for you, just trying to help, lol I hope everybody knows Im kidding the58 /59/60 LES PAUL is the perfect instrument, there is no equal, but ill still take it if you dont like it

  • hmmm interesting. I like the 59 over better than the 60 on the treble pickup, but the 60 better than the 59 when on the rhythm pickup. both bitchin' axes though.

  • I'd be so goddamned happy if u gave me one of any gear shown in this video

  • the younger guy looks like Davey Havok from AFI lol

  • I'm still trying to figure out, what's the difference in sound between the 1950's les pauls? its not that clear to me? say like between 54 or 57 or 59? esp 59 what makes it stand out above so many as a great guitar?

and compared to say a 59, how does a model today compare? how is the soudn different? I've seen ppl demonstrate 59 models on old amps and they sound amazing, and i can hear that old sound going.

finally, these guys are playing the whole song on pure sound no effects right?

  • @Campbell88guitar watch the vid that sould be linked on the ones that appear down the side of the page on this vid called "original 1959 gibson les paul and vintage dimarzio PAF36 pickup demo" this will give a good indication of the tonal differences between an original 59 an a new 59 reissue

  • sorry but that's some serious ear piercing tone, nice eye candy tho

  • @HackerGuitarist

That's the amp though... Blackface Fender.

  • the reason for so many haters is the title of the video ...these are not 59 or 60 year guitars they are r replicas and the title should state as such or expect negative replys

  • That goldtop is one amazing burst!

  • those amp sound terrible. whatever the EQ settings are, those guitars both sound like a brick hitting a dog.

  • sounds like a dealer jam

  • Its sad only one person is soloing here... and only one of those are bursts.. the other is a goldtop

  • only one of those lp's are bursts....the other is a goldtop

  • maybe it would sound better of that guy stopped bobbing his head....

  • @bobby2742 that s what happens when you sound good and you get into the groove

  • that guy needs to settle down on that guitar. Leave it to phil x

  • I've got an '06 les paul with '57 alnico re-issues....

The sound gets better EVERY time I play!

Lookin' forward to THIS guitar gettin' old!

    CHEERS!

  • @boagley1 I'm getting a distressed ESP Eclipse II and looking to change the pickups at some point. Are yours Gibson 57 Classics?

  • @DisasterBlaster500 I've got '57 alnico re-issues, but you can't get much closer without the "REAL DEAL" lol...

I've got a buddy who's NOW selling an ESP LTD Purple Pickle Finish Strat, for $350 CDN if you're interested...

  • @DisasterBlaster500 I've got '57 alnico re-issues, but you can't get much closer without the "REAL DEAL" lol...

    You mentioned ESP...

I've got a buddy who's NOW selling an ESP LTD Purple Pickle Finish Strat, for $350 CDN if you're interested...

  • nice mark watrous played with the racontuers!

  • '59 Burst vs. '60 Burst.....Eh, I'll take both please! :)

  • nice

wow, how in the fuck could anyone thumb this down?

  • @HammerQQ Because they're miserable twats who live up their own arses?

  • to me les pauls sound muddy. God this is so cheesy!

  • to me les pauls sound muddy.

  • Amazing guitars,amazin sound!!!!!

    Fuck the 9 dislikes!

  • mm guys you have to work on your right hand it is weak.and lame

  • @callasexperience youre an idiot.

  • Q\Wonderful video and skill. I wish you would've used the same amps for a better comparison. Still great to watch.

  • @MitchRulzWorld Never mind, just finished the video. Just ignore that little SNAFU.

  • Great video with REAL music. Love the LP's

  • I'm in the position of choosing a 50th anniversary 1960 Standard Les Paul vs. a 1959 VOS Standard Les Paul. Which one would you guys choose, and why?

  • err...epiphone sounds better?boy...u really dont know how great d real gibson lp is...

  • love that! thanks for sharing - great tone.........

  • nice

  • yeah, thyre so versitile that jazz musicians all the way to heavy metal playres play them

  • it´s sounds = but i feel the 59 have a brightertone

  • I also have an Epiphone plus top It`s very good but i still feel the need to have a gibson, trouble is i can`t find a good un, tried out a couple of studios but don`t like fat neck and build quality is not that good.

It`s hard to get the righ one but the tone of a LP is what i need....!

  • @Igotbadjoints go for a classic, it's never let me down!

  • @Igotbadjoints Well u tried only studio and Epiphone Les Paul... of course its tough for you o get the right one :P

  • I am sure you do, now go stuff your hot girlfriend.

  • Btw I upgraded my pickups, pots and caps!!!

  • @kingofskateop Why don't you post a video of that Epiphone and let everyone else decide if it sounds better than a 1959 or 1960 Les Paul?

  • @kingofskateop lol are you kidding me? Epiphone better than these guitars...? Wow kid go make another shitty cover of smell like teen spirit or sweet child o' mine or actually get some knowledge in guitars and then come back,..

  • @kevenharbour 1st don't be rude, 2nd I never said Epi is better or not... 3rd I prefer playing Jazz and 4th I have enough wood, binding, finishing, wiring, fretting knowledge to make a guitar... Btw I don't play with luxe furnitures like Les Pauls, I play with a real MAN axe which is a tele style plank guitar... Btw I prefer upgrading an Epi, not buying a 400K LP...

  • I know me too 400k LP is too much and sorry I didnt wanted to be rude i posted the wrong comments because I copied the wrong comment i wanted to post... Anyway i dont play with a luxe furnitures (but I'm saving for one lol XD) but Telecaster are awesome i dont deny it and your music style because i listen to all music style except techno... BTW One of my dream guitar is the Fender Andy Summers Telecaster, man this guitar rocks with the humbucker pickup in the neck postion and the preamp lol XD

  • @kevenharbour You can build your custom Andy body cheap from Warmoth.com, you can buy genuine fender neck and PUs from ebay and only your luthier will add a booster to the body... Btw my dream guitar is a La Cabronita tele...

  • @kingofskateop I know Warmoth already I might buy a tele body and do the stuff you said but i might ask a friend because I hurt myself in anything even golf... my friend hit me accidentaly with his driver XD

  • @kevenharbour No pain no gain :P

  • @kingofskateop Lol I'm actually came back from the gym lol that's so crazy or creepy... Are you the guy watching me taking a shower :P? I'm just kidding... but are you really this guy? XD

  • Dude on the right is rippin that guitar appart

  • sort of a pointless comparison if you're hooking them up to different amps.

  • whats the amp in the middle? deluxe reverb?

  • that was some tasty playing dudes, awesome axes

  • Comment removed

  • theres no match for the '59 LP

  • @hujucie Maybe an other '59 LP:)

  • lol true

  • f kicken

  • good comibination one is peaceful second is aggressive:)nice:)

  • wow! thats about as disgusting as a hot beautiful chick with an old ugly dude with money! what a waste!

  • 1959 is slightly brighter

  • the 59 but not by much, in defense of the dude, have any of you ever even held a real one, the closest I ve played was 55 blackbeauty with p90s then a 68 goldtop that my friend has with factory pafs(its not spsd to exisit) makes you nervous then giddy like a kid then jealous if not yours, plus the extra digits on the price makes you WANT TO BE VERY CAREFUL,plus vintage is not made for shred,Ive held $75K gretsch white penguin and played some $20k and up Dangelicos ,its always very exciting

  • cool my fathers owns a near mint condition 56 gibson acoustic...godly feel, shame i once had a chance to play a real 59' and i missed it...UGGGH

  • hey myoldguitars what did you think sounded better the 59 or the 60...cheers/

  • I don't understand why this video has haters. Big deal he's not some shredding babbling Drop C pinch harmonic crap machine. The guy is having a good time playing and showing you 2 ass guitars. Get over yourselves. Enjoy music and be open minded. Didn't your mother teach you, if you don't have anything good to say......Say nothing at all.

Thanks for the video! I Love LP's

  • I agree this guy is a bit sloppy, his phrasing is void of soul, and those typical blues box scales are enough for someone to run over and turn his amp off....but hey, this guys is in bliss. : )

  • I think this '59 is not so lucky that his player :-)

  • i agree, that guitar needs to run away to someone that would actually use it

  • i would agree with josha here, only bcause ive played many a git reissue there great but i recently purchased a 70 deluxe unfornutately for collectors its been modded to 59 specs sortof and my god the aged wood here. its night and day i mean i thought how much better can it be but bejesus such growl u dont know my freinds.

  • rockerdude, you couldnt be more wrong, the design, build quality, and wood were waay better in 59 making for a more solid guitar and as important are the effects of 50 years of aging. If you ever heard one in person you would be convinced

  • i dont know,i played a 2009 LP standard plus, and theres no possible way a 59 could sound much better,it was the best sounding guitar ive ever heard, bright, full, warm and fat,it was delicious.IMHO Id say the new Standard plus would be a better guitar, with all the improvements, more advanced pickups, locking tuners,straplocks,etc...maybe its just me,but try one out and youll see.

  • they both sound almost the same, but yet the 59' sounds a little bit better. anyway, great playng!

  • Both guitarssound great, but then, I think my 2009 Historic Les Paul Goldtop sounds as good as them

  • When comparing two guitars people should play the same licks as to be easier to compare. Both guitars sound very similar to my ears

  • 59 is creamy and delicious. more round tone.

    60 is a bit harsher

  • I choose the chambered 2006 model

  • Yeah, anyday!

  • No Vs. I'll take 'em both!

  • The Les Paul was perfected in the 59' model, but the 60' had seen more areas to be improved on so it does have some better sustain I guess but my choice would be te 59' if I couldn't have both (which I totaly would). R.I.P Les Paul.

  • the 1960 has a better tone! it has a treble bite thst i like, but still full at the same time! love the 1960

  • 59!!

  • It's splitting hairs but the 60 sounds a bit richer.. i wouldn't say no to either tho! ;o)

  • its a subtle difference, but i would choose the '59... more depth and characture

  • I honestly can't hear much of a difference, unless he had played the exact same thing with both guitars.

  • if you demo a les paul then you must use a marshall!!

  • @rama6maiden

No. A Dumble. Or an Orange. Or a VOX. Or, better yet, an original Gibson amp.

  • @rama6maiden fuck yes marshall is the only way to go for a les paul

  • @rama6maiden or a Vox dude..

these amps brings the soul of the guitar alive...

  • @rama6maiden If you look its a marshall cab ;)

  • @rama6maiden Says who?

  • 59 is soo smooth and just delicious

  • 59 all the wayyy!

  • 2 different amps not fair

  • first of all, both guitars are amazing. i think the 59 really shines with the distortion, the tone is ear grabbing and has a ton of personality

  • they all sound beutiful!!

  • nice sound and nice song! les paul '59 is still the best!

  • I heard Hendrix in the lead guitarist for a moment.

  • Its true. The guitars are really nice.

  • I don't mind being negged for that comment. Anyone who holds Hendrix in high esteem is okay with me.

  • You know what really sucks.

If i got one of those guitars id be the most miserable fucker on planet earth.

Im a left handed guitar player....

    T.T

Wonder how much a lefty 59 Vintage standard would run...

    2.4 mil?

  • make it hendrix style....turn it upside down :)

  • Its pointless to "compare" these two guitars, one may have a hotter set of pickups, so naturally they are going to sound differen, plus no two guitars have identical woods, every guitar is different. Its just a treat to hear the real thing, even if through amps that aren't all that well suited to PAFs. Would have much preferred a cranked Super Reverb or 50 watt vintage Marshall, to hear real classic tones....

  • You can tell the difference between the two guitars when there are two different players and two different amps? Wow. You must have some great ears on you.

  • no. the rythm player is playing the 2006 chambered '57 reissued (gold top).

the lead guitarist on the right is playing the original 59 and 60 gibson burst les pauls.

u can see where the vid was edited back and forth between the 59 burst and 60 burst. around 0:46, 1:18, etc etc. even the guitar info at bottom of vid indicates which one he is playin. the differences in tone however has alot to do with what his vol. and tone control knobs are set on and his pickup switch above the strings.

  • sometimes he has one on the bridge pickup and the other on the kneck. that changes alot how the guitar sounds too. if he had both on the very same level on the vol and tone control knobs and switch on the same pickup then it be dificult to tell unless u have an ear for it.

  • The 59 has much more attack and volume than the 60 LP. The 60 seems smoother on the neck pup, but I like that edgy tone of the 59. I've watched a lot of vids on 59s, and its amazing what a difference a single year makes in the tone of these LPs

  • do i detect a hint of jealousy mr? :-) dont worry - I'm sure when Peter Green or Jimmy Page want their strings changed they'll call you and maybe you can touch the real mcCoy... but then again - thats not really gonna happen is it - IDIOT!

  • No amount of Mom's money will ever give these players God given talent.

  • those 2 combined can buy a nice house wow

  • well, I would give my nice cosy house for one of these... then I would rent a small house and sleep with the guitar at night... Then when I came from work I would watch it and masturbate. Better than porn!

  • the 59 is better!

  • I have to had this.. I just tried the 59 50th anniversary and this guitar is the best sounding and playing LP I ever played period.. I'm very happy with the R0 I bought recently and it really was sounding better than a couple of R9 I tried but if I only had tried the 50th anniversary before...

  • i think pretty much everyone here agrees that the 59' is better. i love both

  • That playing was anything but cheesy. In fact, I'd called it classic, bluesy, tasteful and dripping with tone.

  • Oh, it's on!

  • And can you expand more on why it's cheesy guitar playing?

  • Out of 5 R9's LP I tried, I had to go with the R0. The sound of an R0 can be a little more twangy and a little more brighter. A good compromise for a the strat player a I was (since I can hardly put the R0 down). Off of these 2 originals, the 1960's a winner to me.. its just an opinion ; )

  • 59 wins!!

  • Goddamn, what fine playing guys. There's about 1250 excellent licks in there! LOL

That guitar demo beats the pants off almost any commercial CD out there, man.

  • BOTH! but 59 is a little bit better

  • 59' :) tone is more fat :) just awesome

  • i like the feel of the 60's neck better its nice and thing and very easy to play but the 59' id say sounds better and is cooler but i mean fuck that i'm not paying $400,000 for that guitar i mean.. you could buy a super nice house with that money id rather have a replica instead of paying that much but damn id be to scared to play it its so expensive

  • Uh... look, the guitar is just as much an investment as the house. So it's not money wasted, is it. If you don't have 400K you can't buy it - if you do, maybe it's good investment.

Scared to play it? Huh? Would you be scared to live in the house?

  • i mean like... you would be walking holding it and it would be like the one time ever that you would like trip holding a guitar haha

  • Well, light some some candles in that lovely 400K house, go put on some coffee, and when you come back, the house is burning down! LOL!

  • Ah, but if the floor caves in at your house, you can have it fixed and the renovation would increase the value of the home. If you break the headstock on your $400,000 1959 Les Paul and have it fixed, the value would go down big time. As much as I would love to own a real '59 burst, I would only buy one if I hit the lottery for $100,000,000! Until then, I'm happy with my cheapo $5,000 '59 Reissue.

  • Aha! But if I owned a real '59 I'd sure as hell have it properly insured... lol

Anyway, I'm perfectly happy with my R0. And I'm lefty so I can forget finding a suitable Burst! There are only 4 known lefty Bursts, 1 of which is owned by Paul McCartney - and one by John McEnroe!

  • you are totally right..buy a gibson for 2000$ that looks very very close and install the same pickups...and voila you have a 400,000$ guitar and a house

  • An excellent idea. Real 50's PAF's are going to be expensive so I'd pick the right guitar.

  • itd have to have the long neck tenon too...to Really the best thing is to completely build a 59 from scratch and get schematics for it...they have ones made from areal 1959..very easy to find actually. Much less costly than spending 2-5 grand for a gibson. the common is itd take about 700 bucks to make your own 1959. if youre adventurous you could drop the cash on real pafs though

  • @DuDe1040

    More like:

Searcha good Luthier and let him build one for you as vintage correct as possible. Let him add his Logo on the peghead and everyone is happy.

  • The 59' is much hotter but the 60' has that mellow blues tone. They both sound amazing!

  • 59"

  • in my opinion the 1960!

  • The '59 is in my opinion the better guitar. I also prefer the chunky 50's neck of the thin 60's neck.

  • That was waaay cool....

    The 59 for me

  • the 59 sounds way better imo.

  • i found a 60 paul burst for 200,0oo ...maybe i should sell my house lmao

  • There's a difference between showing emotion while playing and making yourself look stupid.
