I know this is an old review but you should have covered the price point, this was a budget game to beging with when it came out its price tag was only 20 bucks, i got it for 5 after xmas. You cant expect too much for that kind of money.

This was a very short review. It sounded sensible and reasonable to a point, but you didn't really explain much about the game itself other than throwing in a simple comparison of the gameplay, to games that not everyone has played. I recommend explaining other features, such as options, collectibles, jumping; things that aren't entirely obvious to first-time viewers, the next time you make a review. Most people give it a lot of crap just because of the OPTIONAL point-and-shoot controls.

I love this game. Its easy to just pick up and play, and yet challenging enough to keep me wanting to get past stage 2 [damn mirror boss XD]. The only thing I found annoying was the targeting feature, which I switched to manual because it would sometimes get in the way. Overall I give it 7.5/10 and Its probably the best bargain bin buy at the moment.

I honestly wish they made this a sequal and added Pocky and Rocky. I have Pocky and Rocky for the SNES, and am waiting till I see number 2 for cheap on ebay. All in all, I think this game looks pretty good.

Where do you find half of these games? I have 2 game stores and a best buy in my town and they don't have most of the games you've reviewed.

I'm impressed by this title. it looks old school and I have a soft spot for old school games.

You can likely find it in bargin bins for the Wii or PS2. Amazon sells this one new for 15-20 dollars, and if you browse Ebay you can find a copy for as little as 9 dollars.

If you have the PS2 version, I don't think there is a targeting mode

No save feature, repetitious, and the snow level sucks because you have to search for snowy areas in snow in order to unlock stuff. Irritating! I returned it.

I saw this in gamestop at the queen's mall. I was wondering if I should buy it, but after reading this review, I decided not to and would at best rent it if I can find it at blockbuster. Thing is I already have No More Heroes, Monster Hunter 3, and Dead Rising on my list to buy and Dragon Quest to rent for the wii.

I have ps2 version and love this game despite the reviews, personally I think most bad reviewers sucked at it and couldn't get past 1st stage. if you keep dying and have to restart entire level make sure to go under options and give yourself maximum lives

This game was decent... I played it like twice with my gf.  One of our main problems was dieing and having to replay the same thing over and over xD.

the thing i'd like to know is: does the ps2 version also have good aiming? if you can do the same thing but with the right analog stick, it should probably be a lot of fun

the ps2 version has different aiming. you shoot the way you're running. it's still fun though. just buy cheap.

I've got this game, it's enjoyable for old timers like myself (I love 2D games).

It's not as good as I'd hoped, but hope someone continues to release games like this.

It's also better than Starfish's Monkey King game New Cloud Master. Shameful sequel to a PC Engine classic.

You're kidding yourself if you think Sony or Microsoft care more about "quality control" than Nintendo does. None of the companies stop third partys from releasing on their console unless there's an actual reason to (Like an AO rating, etc).

The PS2 had a slew of games released that were utterly horrible, unplayable even, and it got them because it was the system with the highest install base.

It happens, it's not like the Wii is the first system to get some shovelware.

Well, every now and then something pops up about Sony blocking a release. They gave Working Designs crap over trying to release the Growlanser games separately and they blocked Goemon on the PS2. There were also rumors about Tales of Destiny 2 being blocked by Sony. For one reason or another, the PS2 DDI games never were released in the states either. It seems like Sony's become at least a little more relaxed lately though.

I'm postive I used to play P&R and loved it. Which is why this looks really good to me (Very old school gamer, I have 147 VC games). But... I'd want a save and better SFX. Just out of curiosity, had this had a save and less annoying SFX, what would your score have been? 7? 8?

I think it only annoyed me because sometimes you were hard to hear when it was spiking. Still managed though and once again I really enjoyed it :)

I didn'tmind the no-save feature, it reminded me of the games of the Arcade/NES days where games like thisusually didn't had one.

Also you get a stage select option after you beat the game.

As for the SFX, doesn't the enemy dying sound sound like it was ripped from Sonic the Hedgehog?
