@Doperwtje81 Yeah, I have a weird brain. I have taken an intelligence test at New Scientist and I am in the top 25% for most things and the bottom 10% for others. My brain just can't do some things. Stupid brain!
@MSMSValve 2, yes, absolutely. It's about as good as 1. Not really 3. 3's alright, but it was made for consoles. They added shitty stealth and platforming, and block-pushing puzzles, but it is alright.
@antisocialfatman In my opinion, Machinarium is great once you get into. It's so charming with it's art, characters, and story. I mean, it had a LOT of emotion. Especially considering the characters didn't speak, and the I found myself very attached to even minor characters. I strongly recommend it to any fan of adventure games.
The game is great with the graphics still, and it runs practically the same on an iPod Touch, though like you pointed out that the game is too generous on the hints, when I first played the game at first, I thought of before you posted this video on YouTube was that dumb hint system... Really, how they should've done it at least was if you were stuck you'd have to solve one thing before you would get one of the five hints instead of it all being thrown out at you like it was no tomorrow.
The thing is, it's "always" been possible to go online and almost-effortlessly find hints and walkthroughs for adventure games.
But you can't do so without clearly admitting to yourself "this game is getting the better of me", and not wanting to do that helps to buttress your willpower. But this logic is undermined if the game itself encourages you.
There are few more awesome pleasures than finally defeating a viciously obscure puzzle. (I have fond memories of "notpron", for instance.)
This remake is bad, they removed a lot of background and character animations and added those portraits instead, they removed many clickable hotspots too. The added Layton-like puzzles are crap and makes it obvious this is a Wii port (they were designed to be controlled with a wii-mote). They messed up the great intro of the original game. Play the original in ScummVM instead, this is a butchered version of the game.
Great review! Have you seen Myst? It's an adventure game too, though more inclined towards puzzle solving. It is known as the first game to feature a full 3D environment and fully rendered animations in real-time. The Masterpiece Edition has hints enabled, making it easier as you mentioned in the review.
I have never felt sorry that I subscribed to you - and this review confirms that once again.
But to have a dig at the best adventure game of all time, The Longest Journey, because of one or two puzzles, like the rubber ducky one, when overall the puzzles, story, characters and world are so amazing, devalues this review somewhat..
@antisocialfatman I'm sure thejake means that a review once a week from the Fatman is not enough. The week drags on until we finally see a video from antisocialfatman in our subscription box.
It kind of sounds like you're yelling at the mic in this review.

Yeah, I will never give a game with this kind of hint system a 5/5, no matter what.
